    • Rockies option Riley Pint back to Triple-A
Rockies optioned RHP Riley Pint for Triple-A Albuquerque.

Advice: The 26-year-old hurler appeared in just one game during his time with the Rockies, giving up two runs on two hits and a walk in just 2/3 of an inning. He’ll continue to refine his craft at the Triple-A level. Peter Lambert was recalled from Triple-A Albuquerque in a corresponding move on Wednesday to replace Pint in the Rockies’ bullpen. • Requires rehab stint
Garcia (elbow) will throw a bullpen session Wednesday and will need at least one minor-league rehab appearance before being activated, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Advice: If all goes well, Garcia would be sent out for a rehab assignment following Wednesday's bullpen session. While it's unclear exactly how many appearances he'll need in the minors, manager John Schneider indicated Garcia would need more than one outing before rejoining the active roster. Once he's healthy, Garcia could take over closing duties considering Jordan Romano (elbow) will be shut down from throwing for at least six weeks. Rotowire.com Today, 1:27 pm

    • Jordan Romano (elbow) has arthroscopic surgery
The Blue Jays announced Wednesday that Jordan Romano underwent arthroscopic surgery to repair an impingement in his right elbow.

Advice: Jays’ manager John Schnieder told reporters that he’ll be shut down completely for the next six weeks before he’s able to resume throwing. That means there’s no certainty that he’ll be able to return before the end of the 2024 season. Fantasy managers in redraft leagues without IL spots can safely cut bait on the 31-year-old closer. Expect Chad Green to continue holding down the fort in the ninth inning for the time being. Rotoworld Today, 1:16 pm

    • Undergoes elbow surgery
Romano underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right elbow Tuesday to repair an impingement and will be shut down from throwing for at least six weeks, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports.

Advice: The 31-year-old has been unavailable due to elbow issues since late May, and it's now unclear whether he'll be able to pitch again this year. Romano missed the first couple weeks of the season with elbow problems and never looked himself in the six weeks he was available with a 6.59 ERA in 15 appearances. Chad Green has stepped up as Toronto's closer with Yimi Garcia (elbow) also on the injured list. Rotowire.com Today, 1:15 pm

    • Phil Bickford elects free agency on Wednesday
Phil Bickford has elected free agency.

Advice: The 28-year-old right-hander was designated for assignment over the weekend and passed through waivers unclaimed, but rather than accepting an outright assignment to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, he’ll peddle his wares on the open market instead. Bickford holds a 2.93 ERA over 22 appearances at Triple-A this season, so it shouldn’t take him long to find a new gig. Rotoworld Today, 1:01 pm

    • Described as pain-free
Yamamoto is no longer feeling pain in his right shoulder, but he hasn't yet started throwing, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Yamamoto was diagnosed with a right rotator cuff strain two days after being able to complete only two innings in his most recent start June 15. While the rookie right-hander is now pain-free, he isn't yet throwing, and manager Dave Roberts indicated that there's no clear timeframe for when the hurler will pick up a ball again. The organization figures to be cautious with Yamamoto, and he almost certainly won't return to action until after the All-Star break. Rotowire.com Today, 12:55 pm
    • Heads back to Triple-A
The Rockies optioned Pint to Triple-A Albuquerque on Wednesday.

Advice: Pint made his 2024 debut Saturday, allowing two runs across two-thirds of an inning against the White Sox and will return to the minors without making another appearance. The 26-year-old will yield his spot on the active roster to Peter Lambert. Pint owns a 3.18 ERA across 17 innings with Albuquerque this season. Rotowire.com Today, 12:50 pm

    • Elects free agency
The Yankees released Bickford on Wednesday.

Advice: Bickford cleared waivers after being removed from the 40-man roster but has elected free agency rather than accepting an outright assignment. The veteran reliever should be scooped up by some team, but he might have to go to the minors first. Rotowire.com Today, 12:49 pm

The Rockies recalled Lambert from Triple-A Albuquerque on Wednesday

Advice: After making the Rockies' Opening Day roster, Lambert has bounced between Colorado and Albuquerque and has spent the last month at Triple-A. He'll take the spot of Riley Pint on the active roster. Lambert owns a 6.47 ERA across 32.0 innings with the Rockies this season. Rotowire.com Today, 12:46 pm
