      Advice: Tatis set the tone for a big offensive game by the Padres with his first-inning solo homer. The long ball extended his hitting streak to 13 games, during which he was slashed .434/.474/.660 with three home runs, seven RBI, nine runs and a stolen base.       Irvin (6-2) picked up the win Friday in a 6-3 victory over the Rays, giving up three runs (two earned) on eight hits over 5.2 innings. He struck out six without walking a battter.

      Advice: Three straight singles in the sixth inning kept Irvin from recording his fifth quality start of the season, but the southpaw did tie his season high in strikeouts. He hasn't allowed more than three earned runs in any of his last 10 appearances (eight starts) dating back to April 15, posting a 1.88 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 36:7 K:BB through 52.2 innings over that stretch.     • Fernando Tatis Jr. goes deep in lopsided victory
      Fernando Tatis Jr. crushed his 11th homer of the season on Friday in the Padres’ blowout win over the Diamondbacks.

      Advice: Tatis delivered a tone-setting 415-foot solo shot off Arizona starter Brandon Pfaadt in the opening frame, which led to a 10-run, 14-hit explosion for San Diego’s struggling lineup.       Allen allowed two runs on four hits and three walks over six frames in a no-decision Friday. He struck out three during the loss to Miami.

      Advice: Allen served up back-to-back solo homers to Bryan De La Cruz and Josh Bell in the third inning but otherwise kept Miami's offense fairly quiet. It was a needed bounce-back after Allen was tagged with seven runs through 1.2 innings in his last appearance. He posted a 6.26 ERA in six May starts despite two of them being scoreless outings.     • Ozuna smacks two doubles in loss Friday
      Marcell Ozuna went 2-for-4 with a run scored and two doubles against the Nationals on Friday.

      Advice: On a night when the Braves offense had only four hits against Nationals starter Jake Irvin, Ozuna managed to double off Irvin twice.     • Logan Allen surrenders two runs to Marlins
      Logan Allen yielded two runs through six innings Friday in a no-decision against the Marlins.

      Advice: Allen bounced back after getting lit up by the Rockies last time out. He’s one out shy of having four quality starts in five tries (3 ER in 5 2/3 IP vs. the Angels on May 24), but there’s nothing much to get excited about here.       Cole Irvin allowed three runs (two earned) in 5 2/3 innings and got the win in the Orioles’ 6-3 victory over the Rays on Friday.



      Advice: Irvin gave up eight hits, walked none and struck out six. The win was his sixth of the season. Irvin hasn’t allowed more than three earned runs since his second start of the year back on April 10th. His ERA on the season is now 2.87, though his 4.19 xFIP tells a different story. The 30-year-old left-hander will see if he can keep it going against the Braves at home next week.

    • Big improvement over Wednesday
      Beeks picked up five outs for the Rockies in Thursday's 3-2 win over the Cardinals, striking out two while allowing no hits or walks between the eighth and ninth innings.

      Advice: This was a major improvement on Beeks' outing Wednesday, in which he allowed five earned runs and blew the save in a loss to the Reds. The negative news for Beeks managers, however, is that the Rockies brought in Tyler Kinley to get the final out and record the save Thursday. Beeks does lead the Rockies with six saves, but the team's closing situation is as muddled as it has been at any point this season.       Ozuna went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and an additional run in a 5-2 win against Washington on Thursday.

      Advice: Ozuna gave Atlanta some breathing room with his two-run, eighth-inning blast that extended his team's lead from one run to three. It was the slugger's 18th long ball of the campaign, moving him into fourth place in the majors.
