    • Logs second steal
Cronenworth went 2-for-4 with a double, a walk, one stolen base and one run scored in Wednesday's 6-4 win over the Rangers.

Advice: Cronenworth notched his first multi-hit effort since June 21 and his first steal since May 6 with a strong performance Wednesday. The infielder hit .250 with eight extra-base hits and 15 RBI over 27 contests in June. For the year, he's at a .260/.325/.437 slash line, 12 home runs, two steals, 53 RBI and 45 runs scored across 85 games. He's played fairly well, but he may slip out of an everyday role once Xander Bogaerts (shoulder) returns from the injured list later in July. Bogaerts had played primarily at second base prior to his injury, though Cronenworth or Luis Arraez could ultimately share first base and designated hitter to keep both of their bats in the lineup. • Brent Rooker collects three hits, homers vs. Angels
Brent Rooker went 3-for-4 with a solo homer in the Athletics’ 5-0 win over the Angels on Wednesday.

Advice: Rooker knocked a base hit in the third inning, then led off the sixth with a solo blast off Davis Daniel. He added another single in the seventh for his third hit of the game. The 29-year-old slugger is hitting .269/.343/.530 with 17 homers, 49 RBI, and three steals across 300 plate appearances. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:04 pm

    • Colin Rea blanks Rockies over seven innings in win
Colin Rea tossed seven scoreless innings with four strikeouts in a win over the Rockies on Wednesday.

Advice: Rea made his most impressive start of the season on Wednesday, holding the Rockies scoreless in Colorado across seven frames. He scattered six hits and struck out four batters with no walks, tossing 67-of-97 pitches for strikes. The 34-year-old right-hander will take a 3.34 ERA, 1.20 WHIP, and a 66/28 K/BB ratio across 94 1/3 innings into a start against the Pirates in Milwaukee on Tuesday. • Miles Mikolas rebounds Wednesday with quality start
Miles Mikolas struck out four and allowed two runs over six innings on Wednesday in a no-decision against the Pirates.

Advice: Mikolas was long gone before this one was decided in extra innings, but he still managed to get through six frames without any major implosions, unlike his last time out when he was torched for 10 runs (nine earned) over 4 1/3 innings against the Reds. The 35-year-old veteran righty will aim to keep the momentum going on Monday when he faces off against the Nationals in a road matchup. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:47 pm
    • Brayan Bello whiffs seven in victory over Marlins
Brayan Bello recorded seven strikeouts and surrendered one run over 6 2/3 innings on Wednesday in a win over the Marlins.

Advice: Bello served up a run-scoring single to Jesús Sánchez in the opening frame, but managed to settle in shortly afterwards, keeping Miami off the scoreboard until the late innings of this one before turning things over to Boston’s bullpen with two outs in the seventh inning. It was a much-needed rebound performance for the 25-year-old righty after getting knocked around for seven runs over 2 1/3 innings his last time out against the Blue Jays. He’ll bring a pedestrian 5.19 ERA, 1.45 WHIP and 71/30 K/BB ratio across 78 innings (15 starts) into an extremely favorable home matchup on Tuesday in his penultimate outing prior to the All-Star break. • Cole Irvin removed from Orioles’ starting rotation
Orioles’ manager Brandon Hyde told reporters on Wednesday that Cole Irvin will work out of the team’s bullpen going forward.

Advice: Someone needed to get the boot with Dean Kremer returning on Wednesday, and with Cade Povich and Albert Suarez pitching well and Irvin struggling recently, the writing had been on the wall. The 30-year-old hurler will settle into a long-relief role until another injury strikes the O’s rotation or they require an extra starter. Rotoworld Yesterday, 5:56 pm

    • Relegated to bullpen
Manager Brandon Hyde said Wednesday that Irvin will pitch out of the bullpen going forward, Andy Kostka of TheBaltimoreBanner.com reports.

Advice: The decision to move Irvin to the bullpen comes after he allowed five runs in 3.2 innings during his most recent start Sunday against the Rangers, giving him a 10.22 ERA over 12.1 innings across his last three starts. Hyde noted there is still a possibility that the 30-year-old southpaw returns to the rotation at some point, but he would likely need to string together several solid performances out of the bullpen before that happens. • On bench Wednesday
Abreu is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against Miami.

Advice: Abreu will get the day off Wednesday after making six straight starts in right field. Rob Refsnyder, Jarren Duran and Tyler O'Neill will fill the outfield from left to right. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 12:08 pm

    • Takes loss against Guardians
Kopech (2-7) allowed one hit and one earned run across 0.2 innings and took the loss Tuesday against the Guardians.

Advice: Kopech entered the game in the ninth inning with the score tied at 6-6. He allowed a leadoff single and threw a wild pitch to put the runner on third base before allowing a sacrifice fly to bring in the game-winning run for Cleveland. Kopech has each of the White Sox's last two saves and should remain the team's primary closer despite a 4.50 ERA and 1.39 WHIP in 36 innings this season. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:03 am
