• Added to roster
The Orioles selected McKenna's contract from Triple-A Norfolk on Friday.

Advice: McKenna will provide manager Brandon Hyde with an outfield option against lefties, although he figures to operate mostly in a reserve role. The 27-year-old is a career .221/.299/.318 hitter over parts of three major-league seasons and can handle all three outfield spots. Rotowire.com 4 minutes ago

  • White Sox select Tommy Pham
White Sox selected the contract of OF Tommy Pham.

Advice: Pham signed a minor league deal with the White Sox earlier this month and now joins the active roster. The 36-year-old veteran played four games at the Triple-A level where he went 5-for-17 with a double. He’ll look to give Chicago any sort of spark on offense as the team is off to their worst 25-game start in franchise history with a 3-22 record. Rotoworld 9 minutes ago

  • White Sox designate Kevin Pillar for assignment
White Sox designated OF Kevin Pillar for assignment.

Advice: The 35-year-old outfielder has struggled this season slashing .160/.290/.360 in his 32 plate appearances and will head to the minors as the team brings up Tommy Pham. Rotoworld 10 minutes ago

  • Designated for assignment
The White Sox designated Pillar for assignment Friday, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports.

Advice: The 35-year-old posted a .160/.290/.360 slash line through 32 plate appearances, and he'll lose his place on Chicago's 26-man and 40-man rosters to make room for Tommy Pham. Pillar could elect to become a free agent if he passes through waivers unclaimed. Rotowire.com 11 minutes ago

  • Added to big-league roster
The White Sox selected Pham's contract from Triple-A Charlotte on Friday, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Signed to a minor-league contract on April 15, Pham has been knocking some rust off at Charlotte, where he went 5-for-17 with one double, two stolen bases and a 3:1 K:BB. The 36-year-old should receive regular playing time in the outfield for the White Sox, with most of it likely to come between center and right field. Pham had a .774 OPS with 16 homers and 22 steals in 2023 and makes for a viable pickup in five-outfielder leagues. Rotowire.com 12 minutes ago

  • Three hits in Thursday's loss
Meneses went 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI in Thursday's loss to the Dodgers.

Advice: It's the third multi-hit performance in the last five games for Meneses, who's started seven straight contests while batting .360 (9-for-25). The 31-year-old is still looking for his first homer of the season an d has only two doubles, but with Lane Thomas (knee) on the shelf and Joey Gallo needed in right field, Meneses' playing time looks secure as he flips between first base and DH. On the season, he's slashing .257/.337/.284 with 10 RBI but only two runs scored in 20 games. Rotowire.com 28 minutes ago
  • Nabs fifth steal
Abrams went 1-for-4 with a run scored and a stolen base in Thursday's loss to the Dodgers.

Advice: The 23-year-old shortstop saw a nine-game hitting streak end on Wednesday, but he wasted no time getting going again. Over his last 14 contests since returning from a minor finger injury, Abrams is slashing .293/.349/.638 with four of his six homers and two of his five steals on the season. • Could still see consistent work
Adams might still see regular playing time even with Keibert Ruiz back from the injured list, Mark Zuckerman of MASN Sports reports.

Advice: "We're definitely going to use him," Nationals manager Dave Martinez said Thursday. "One, let him catch. And two, we can also DH Keibert like we've done in the past and let him continue to catch. He's done a great job. He's learned a lot over the years. He's really coming into his own." Adams started 11 of 13 games while Ruiz was sidelined by an illness, batting .270 (10-for-37) with a homer and four doubles while winning the trust of the pitching staff, and he'll retain fantasy value in deeper two-catcher formats if he's seeing action three or four times a week.
