  • Smith's homer helps Dodgers get by Cardinals
Will Smith homered and went 2-for-4 with a solo homer on Saturday in a victory over the Cardinals.

Advice: Smith got the party started for the Dodgers with a blast in the first off Jordan Montgomery; one of three homers that Los Angeles would hit off Montgomery. It's been an outstanding season for the 27-year-old backstop, as he's up to 23 homers, 84 RBI and a solid .264/.352/.476 slash with a couple weeks left. Yesterday, 9:15 pm
  • Raleigh time: Cal homers, drives in three in win
Cal Raleigh homered, doubled and drove in three runs off the bench in a 6-5 win Saturday over the Royals.

Advice: Raleigh didn't start this one, but he made a big impact once he came in the game. Big impact is an understatement; he absolutely clobbered a two-run homer to right to tie the game at 5-5 after pinch-hitting for Curt Casali. The backstop also doubled in the go-ahead run in the ninth to score Jarred Kelenic, and it gave the Mariners a much-needed victory as they look to hang onto the final playoff spot. Raleigh has been a very bright spot for Seattle, and is up to 25 homers in his first full season of MLB action. Yesterday, 7:38 pm
  • Omar Narvaez has two hits, RBI as Brewers top Reds
Omar Narvaez went 2-for-4 and drove in a run on Saturday night as the Brewers topped the Reds in Cincinnati.

Advice: Narvaez delivered a run-scoring single off of Reds starter Graham Ashcraft in the fourth inning -- extending the Brewers lead to 3-1. With the two-hit effort, the 30-year-old backstop is now slashing a disappointing .216/.299/.320 with four homers and 23 RBI in 281 plate appearances on the season. Yesterday, 7:09 pm
  • Sánchez homers, plates four in win over Angels
Gary Sánchez homered and drove in four runs Saturday in a win over the Angels.

Advice: Sánchez drove in three of his runs with a three-run blast off of Mike Mayers in the sixth inning; the 15th time he's gone deep this season. He also had a sac fly in the first. Sanchez hasn't really shown much offensive upside in 2022 despite the homers with a borderline unplayable slash of .209/.279/.380. Yesterday, 7:05 pm
  • Contreras swats 20th homer in win over Phillies
William Contreras went 3-for-4 with a solo homer in Saturday's win against the Phillies.

Advice: Phillies starter, Bailey Falter, got the 24-year-old to swing and miss in the first but later answered with a 403-foot bomb to right center field to give Atlanta a 2-0 lead in the top of the third inning. He would smack a single to center field, bringing home Orlando Arcia and extending the Braves' lead by six runs. Contreras and Travis d'Arnaud have been splitting time behind the dish and when not catching, the youngster has been the Braves designated hitter. Fantasy managers should expect the same timeshare as both players are expected to be on Atlanta's starting roster going into next year. Yesterday, 7:00 pm
  • Yadier Molina (knee) sits again Saturday
Yadier Molina (knee) remained out of the Cardinals starting lineup on Saturday night against the Dodgers.

Advice: The 40-year-old will miss his fourth straight game as he is dealing with soreness in his right knee. Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol told reporters Saturday that the veteran will catch Adam Wainwrights's start against the Dodgers Sunday. Andrew Knizner will be Jordan Montgomery's batterymate for Saturday's contest against the NL West-leading Dodgers. Yesterday, 3:28 pm
  • Ruiz (groin) set to play winter ball in Venezuela
Keibert Ruiz (groin) plans to play winter ball in Venezuela this off-season.

Advice: The 24-year-old told reporters that he needs another three weeks or so to recover from a testicular contusion but expects to see some at-bats during the offseason in Venezuela. While many fantasy managers were hoping for more over-the-fence power, Ruiz's .251/.313/.360 slash line has been respectable for a catcher. He should be ready for full-time at-bats this spring. Yesterday, 3:04 pm
  • Ford Proctor recalled from Triple-A
Giants recalled C/INF Ford Proctor from Triple-A Sacramento.

Advice: The Giants are just playing out the string and call upon Ford Proctor for the last week of the season. Proctor can play everywhere around the diamond and will give the Giants and manager Gabe Kapler another pawn to move in his game of MLB chess. Yesterday, 2:47 pm
  • Raleigh takes a seat Saturday against the Royals
Cal Raleigh is not in the Mariners' starting lineup in Saturday's game against the Kansas City Royals.

Advice: Raleigh is getting the night off as the Mariners face southpaw Kris Bubic but the 25-year-old is still dealing with a thumb issue. The 25-year-old's batting average is not great but his 24 homers have given fantasy managers plenty to smile about. He should return for Sunday's finale in Kansas City. Yesterday, 1:17 pm
