• Phillies select Chris Devenski from Triple-A
Phillies selected the contract of RHP Chris Devenski from Triple-A Lehigh Valley.

Advice: Devenski will take Brad Hand's place on the active roster after Hand was placed on the injured list with elbow tendinitis. The 31-year-old right-hander was signed to a minor league contract late last month after missing the better part of the last two seasons after undergoing Tommy John surgery. To make space on the 40-man roster, Johan Camargo was designated for assignment.  NBCSportsEDGE.com 16 minutes ago
  • Brad Hand (elbow) lands on 15-day injured list
Phillies placed LHP Brad Hand on the 15-day injured list with left elbow tendinitis.

Advice: The move is retroactive to September 22. Hand struggled in his last outing, giving up four runs while recording just one out against the Red Sox. The 32-year-old left-hander has been otherwise excellent this season, posting a 2.80 ERA with five saves over 45 innings. Chris Devenski was activated in the corresponding move to take Hand's place in the bullpen.  NBCSportsEDGE.com 19 minutes ago

  • Scott Alexander will open for Giants Sunday
Scott Alexander will be the opener for the Giants in Sunday's finale against the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Scott Alexander will take the ball first in Sunday's finale against the Diamondbacks. Jakob Junis, the scheduled starter, will fill in as the bulk innings pitcher. In theory, should give the Junis a better chance of a win but this move indicates the team's lack of faith in the 33-year-old as a traditional starter. NBCSportsEDGE.com Yesterday, 9:10 pm
  • Drew Hutchison gives up two runs in win Saturday
Drew Hutchison picked up his third victory of the season on Saturday night, limiting the White Sox to two runs on four hits over his five innings of work.

Advice: The 32-year-old hurler walked two and struck out one on the evening. The only scoring done against him came on back-to-back solo homers by Eloy Jiménez and Gavin Sheets in the fourth inning. Hutchison got six swings and misses on 77 pitches in the ballgame, posting a CSW of 27 percent. He'll tote a 4.54 ERA and 1.46 WHIP into Friday's matchup against the Twins. • Davis Martin posts quality start in loss to Tigers
Davis Martin posted a quality start in Saturday's loss to the Tigers, surrendering three runs on seven hits over his six frames.

Advice: The right-hander punched out four on the night while issuing one free pass. Most of the damage done against him came in the opening inning on a two-run blast by light-hitting infielder Harold Castro. Castro then added a run-scoring single in the fifth inning. Martin got 11 swings and misses on 93 pitches in the ballgame, posting a CSW of 27 percent. NBCSportsEDGE.com Yesterday, 8:53 pm
  • Kuhl so-so in loss Saturday vs. Rockies
Chad Kuhl allowed three runs in 5 2/3 innings in a loss on Saturday to the Rockies.

Advice: Kuhl gave up a pair of runs in the third and another in the fifth. The right-hander issued a pair of walks, but did strike out five in a start that was probably better than the numbers suggest. Doesn't help managers who were hoping for a win, however, as he falls to 6-10 with a 5.45 ERA. It should go without saying, but he's obviously someone to avoid against the Dodgers next weekend.  NBCSportsEDGE.com Yesterday, 8:34 pm

  • Emmanuel Clase closes out Rangers again Saturday
Emmanuel Clase closed out the Rangers for the second consecutive night on Saturday, allowing a run but escaping with a two-run lead intact.

Advice: The right-hander served up a one-out solo homer to Sam Huff, but was able to avoid any further trouble. He has now recorded saves in each of the last three ballgames, which makes it unlikely that he'd be used in the ninth inning on Sunday should a save situation arise. On the season, Clase boasts an outstanding 1.46 ERA, 0.75 WHIP and 68/10 K/BB ratio over 67 2/3 innings while recording his league-leading 39 saves. NBCSportsEDGE.com Yesterday, 8:32 pm
  • Cal Quantrill gives up one run in win over Rangers
Cal Quantrill was terrific in Saturday night's victory over the Rangers, surrendering only one run on five hits over six stellar frames.

Advice: The right-hander walked three and struck out four on the evening. He made just one mistake in the game -- serving up a solo homer to Marcus Semien in the third inning -- but that would be the only tally against him. Quantrill got nine whiffs on 83 pitches in the contest, posting a CSW of 23 percent. He now sits at 14-5 on the season with a 3.49 ERA and 1.24 WHIP across 175 1/3 innings. He'll look to replicate this fine effort when he squares off against the Royals on Friday. NBCSportsEDGE.com Yesterday, 8:32 pm
  • Moronta picks up save against former club Giants
Reyes Moronta pitched a scoreless inning to pick up a save Saturday against the Giants.

Advice: Revenge game? Moronta started his career as a Giant, and the burly right-hander looked good against his former employer. He struck out two while not allowing a hit, and threw 10-fo-13 pitches for strikes. He could see a few more save chances in the final few weeks, but it's far from a guarantee.  NBCSportsEDGE.com Yesterday, 8:16 pm
