• Kershaw solid again in victory over Cardinals
Clayton Kershaw struck out seven over six innings of two-run baseball Saturday to get a win over the Cardinals.

Advice: Kershaw, 34, scattered seven hits with one walk. The only damage on the scoreboard was a two-run homer by Nolan Arenado. Outside of that, it was another strong performance for the future Hall of Famer that saw him improve his record to 10-3 and see his ERA rise only slightly to 2.42. The Dodgers could start messing with the rotation to adjust for the postseason, but he's lined up to face the Rockies in his next outing.  NBCSportsEDGE.com Yesterday, 9:20 pm
  • Montgomery gives up three homers in loss to LAD
Jordan Montgomery gave up six runs in four innings Saturday in a loss to the Dodgers.

Advice: Montgomery couldn't keep the ball in the park on Saturday. Or rather, he couldn't keep it in the park enough, anyway, as he allowed three homers to the potent Los Angeles lineup. He allowed seven hits in total, and the southpaw struck out three with just one walk. Montgomery will have a chance to rebound against the lowly Pirates next Saturday.  NBCSportsEDGE.com Yesterday, 9:17 pm
  • Drew Hutchison gives up two runs in win Saturday
Drew Hutchison picked up his third victory of the season on Saturday night, limiting the White Sox to two runs on four hits over his five innings of work.

Advice: The 32-year-old hurler walked two and struck out one on the evening. The only scoring done against him came on back-to-back solo homers by Eloy Jiménez and Gavin Sheets in the fourth inning. Hutchison got six swings and misses on 77 pitches in the ballgame, posting a CSW of 27 percent. He'll tote a 4.54 ERA and 1.46 WHIP into Friday's matchup against the Twins. • Davis Martin posts quality start in loss to Tigers
Davis Martin posted a quality start in Saturday's loss to the Tigers, surrendering three runs on seven hits over his six frames.

Advice: The right-hander punched out four on the night while issuing one free pass. Most of the damage done against him came in the opening inning on a two-run blast by light-hitting infielder Harold Castro. Castro then added a run-scoring single in the fifth inning. Martin got 11 swings and misses on 93 pitches in the ballgame, posting a CSW of 27 percent. NBCSportsEDGE.com Yesterday, 8:53 pm

  • Darvish whiffs eight while getting win vs. Rockies
Yu Darvish gave up two runs in six innings of work Saturday to get a win over the Rockies.

Advice: Darvish struck out eight in the strong outing, and he walked two while allowing five hits. Somewhat quietly, the 36-year-old has been putting together plenty of quality -- literally and figuratively -- starts in the 2022 campaign, and this one lowers his ERA to 3.05 with a 0.93 WHIP that ranks among the best in baseball. Darvish will be back on the bump on Friday in a showdown with the White Sox.  NBCSportsEDGE.com Yesterday, 8:35 pm
  • Kuhl so-so in loss Saturday vs. Rockies
Chad Kuhl allowed three runs in 5 2/3 innings in a loss on Saturday to the Rockies.

Advice: Kuhl gave up a pair of runs in the third and another in the fifth. The right-hander issued a pair of walks, but did strike out five in a start that was probably better than the numbers suggest. Doesn't help managers who were hoping for a win, however, as he falls to 6-10 with a 5.45 ERA. It should go without saying, but he's obviously someone to avoid against the Dodgers next weekend.  NBCSportsEDGE.com Yesterday, 8:34 pm

  • Cal Quantrill gives up one run in win over Rangers
Cal Quantrill was terrific in Saturday night's victory over the Rangers, surrendering only one run on five hits over six stellar frames.

Advice: The right-hander walked three and struck out four on the evening. He made just one mistake in the game -- serving up a solo homer to Marcus Semien in the third inning -- but that would be the only tally against him. Quantrill got nine whiffs on 83 pitches in the contest, posting a CSW of 23 percent. He now sits at 14-5 on the season with a 3.49 ERA and 1.24 WHIP across 175 1/3 innings. He'll look to replicate this fine effort when he squares off against the Royals on Friday. NBCSportsEDGE.com Yesterday, 8:32 pm

  • Glenn Otto pitches well in no-decision on Saturday
Glenn Otto pitched well in a no-decision against the Guardians on Saturday night, giving up just one run on three hits over 5 2/3 innings of work.

Advice: The 26-year-old hurler walked one and struck out three on the night. The only damage done against him came on a solo homer that he served up to Óscar González in the fifth inning. Otto generated seven swings and misses on 73 pitches in the game, registering a CSW of 25 percent. He'll carry an uninspiring 4.73 ERA and 1.34 WHIP into Friday's matchup against the Angels in Los Angeles. NBCSportsEDGE.com Yesterday, 8:32 pm

  • Cobb struggles over five, takes loss to D-Backs
Alex Cobb struggled while allowing five runs in five innings in a loss Saturday to the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Cobb allowed five hits, walked two and struck out three. He had pitched well in his previous two starts, but this was an ineffective outing that saw him fail to miss bats and give up a good deal of traffic in the process. Cobb takes a 3.67 ERA into Thursday's start against the Rockies.  NBCSportsEDGE.com Yesterday, 8:15 pm
