• Red Sox send reliever Campbell back to minors
Red Sox optioned RHP Isaiah Campbell to Triple-A Worcester.

Advice: Campbell was just promoted on Monday after posting a 2.19 ERA, 0.97 WHIP, and 18/3 K/BB ratio in 12 1/3 innings at Triple-A. However, he was lit up for three runs on three hits in 1/3 of an inning in his only appearance this week. He’ll try to figure things out at Triple-A; although, that hasn’t helped so far this season. LHP Bailey Horn is allegedly being called up to take his place. Rotoworld Today, 10:08 am
  • Getting spot start Thursday
Kuhl will start Thursday's game against Atlanta at Guaranteed Rate Field.

Advice: Kuhl had started in 11 of his 13 appearances at Triple-A Charlotte prior to being called up June 14, but his first three outings with the big club have come out of the bullpen. However, Kuhl covered 4.1 innings and 99 pitches in long relief while mopping up in Sunday's 11-2 loss to the Tigers, so even though he'll be pitching on three days' rest, he should be able to provide the White Sox with a decent amount of length in a starting role. Unless he impresses against Atlanta to earn himself a longer stay in the rotation, Kuhl will likely be moved back to the bullpen or sent to the minors after Thursday's start. • Testing open market
Andrews elected free agency Wednesday in lieu of accepting an outright assignment.

Advice: Last week, the Yankees moved Andrews off their 40-man roster for the second time this season. Andrews accepted an outright assignment to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre upon clearing waivers back in April, but he won't do the same this time around and will instead look to join an organization that can present him with a clearer path to the big leagues. The lefty reliever made 20 appearances this season at Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, posting a 5.84 ERA, 1.53 WHIP and 28:22 K:BB in 24.2 innings. Rotowire.com Today, 9:43 am
  • Sent back to minors
The Yankees optioned Gomez to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Thursday.

Advice: Gomez was sent out after he mopped up in Wednesday's 12-2 loss to the Mets, covering two innings while allowing five earned runs on four hits and three walks. The Yankees will replace him on the 26-man active roster with a fresh bullpen arm in Jake Cousins, who was called up from Triple-A. Rotowire.com Today, 9:37 am
  • Summoned to big leagues
The Yankees recalled Cousins from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Thursday.

Advice: After right-handed reliever Yoendrys Gomez worked two innings in Wednesday's 12-2 loss to the Mets, the Yankees will move him off the 26-man active roster for a fresh bullpen arm in Cousins. The 29-year-old has previously made two relief appearances for the Yankees but has otherwise spent the entire 2024 campaign at Triple-A, covering six innings while giving up two earned runs and striking out eight batters. • Sent back to Triple-A
The Red Sox optioned Campbell to Triple-A Worcester on Thursday, Jen McCaffrey of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Campbell's stay with the Red Sox lasted for just three days, with the right-handed reliever getting tagged for three earned runs while recording just one out in his lone appearance in Monday's 7-6 win over the Blue Jays. The 26-year-old has been effective in his 11 appearances with Worcester this season, logging a 2.19 ERA and 0.97 WHIP in 12.1 innings. Despite his lack of success in the big leagues this season, Campbell should still rank near the top of the list for a call-up when the Red Sox require an extra bullpen arm. • Outrighted to Triple-A
The Yankees outrighted Andrews to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Wednesday.

Advice: It's the second time since April that Andrews has been outrighted after departing the Yankees' 40-man roster. Whether he accepts the assignment and remains in the organization or elects free agency is not yet known. Rotowire.com Today, 6:33 am
  • Another rehab start Thursday
Orioles manager Brandon Hyde said that Kremer (tricep) will make another rehab start Thursday at Triple-A Norfolk, Matt Weyrich of The Baltimore Sun reports.

Advice: Kremer struggled in his second rehab outing this past Saturday with Norfolk, allowing five runs while recording just two outs. He got his pitch count to 59 in his first rehab start but was pulled from the second outing after throwing just 39 pitches due to a stressful first inning. It's possible Kremer will be ready to return from the 15-day injured list next week, though that decision depends on how he looks Thursday and how much he can get stretched out. The righty has been out since late May with a right triceps strain. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 1:51 pm

  • Gavin Williams (elbow) to make another rehab start
Gavin Williams (elbow) will make another minor league rehab start on Wednesday.

Advice: Williams got his pitch count up to 66 during his most recent rehab outing last Friday for Double-A Akron when he struck out four and allowed one run over five innings and now appears to be getting close to making his season debut. The 24-year-old former top pitching prospect has been on the shelf since spring training recovering from a right elbow injury. Rotoworld Tuesday, 5:10 pm
