• Sent back to minors
The Giants optioned Burgos to Triple-A Sacramento on Tuesday, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Advice: Burgos' contract was selected from Triple-A on Monday, and he'll now head back to Sacramento after spending just 24 hours in the big leagues. He gave up an earned run on three hits and a walk over one inning in his MLB debut. The 25-year-old southpaw has turned in a 1.64 ERA and 0.82 WHIP through 22 frames in the minors, however, so a return to San Francisco later in the year is definitely possible. Mason Black was recalled in a corresponding move. Rotowire.com Today, 3:29 pm

  • Hoby Milner draws first career start on Tuesday
Hoby Milner will serve as the Brewers’ opener for Tuesday’s game against the Rangers.

Advice: This is pretty cool. Milner will make his first career start, technically, on Tuesday night after 269 relief appearances in the big leagues since 2017. It’ll be Bryse Wilson following him for a bulk relief outing afterwards. Rotoworld Today, 2:44 pm

  • Opening Tuesday
Milner will start Tuesday's game against the Rangers, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

Advice: The left-hander will make the first start of his MLB career Tuesday before turning things over to primary pitcher Bryse Wilson after an inning or two. Milner has struggled in his past six outings with nine earned runs allowed after posting a 2.87 ERA in his first 30 appearances of the campaign. Rotowire.com Today, 2:44 pm

  • Strong showing in live BP
Santos (lat) came away from his live batting practice session Saturday feeling very encouraged after deploying his sinker/slider combination, MLB.com reports.

Advice: Santos faced rookies Ryan Bliss and Tyler Locklear before Saturday's game in Miami and flummoxed both players consistently, not allowing either to put the ball in play over the quick 10-pitch session. Santos is slated to throw another bullpen session during the Mariners' current three-game series at Tropicana Field against the Rays, with another live batting practice a possibility in the days following. Assuming he continues free of setbacks through those sessions, Santos would then be set to begin a fairly lengthy rehab assignment. Rotowire.com Today, 9:48 am

  • Selected by San Francisco
The Giants selected Burgos' contract from Triple-A Sacramento on Monday.

Advice: The move corresponds with the Giants designating Trenton Brooks for assignment. In nine games with Sacramento this season, Burgos has a 1.64 ERA, 0.82 WHIP and 23:2 K:BB over 22 innings. The 25-year-old southpaw will work out of the Giants' bullpen, likely as a multi-inning reliever. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 3:02 pm

  • Notches 24th save
Clase pitched a scoreless inning, allowing a hit and walk while striking out a batter on his way to a save in Sunday's 6-5 win over the Blue Jays.

Advice: Clase was called upon to protect a 6-5 lead in the top of the ninth inning, and he worked around a pair of baserunners for his 24th save of the season. The right-hander is as elite as it gets at closer, going 24-for-27 on save opportunities in 2024, while he has now converted his last 11 chances. On the season, Clase owns a microscopic 0.72 ERA and 0.64 WHIP with 38 strikeouts over 37.1 innings in 38 appearances out of Cleveland's bullpen. Rotowire.com Sunday, 8:01 pm
  • Escapes with save
Scott allowed two hits and a walk in a scoreless inning Sunday, striking out one and earning a save over the Mariners.

Advice: Scott loaded the bases with two outs but managed to finish off the 6-4 win unscathed. He tossed 16 of 22 pitches for strikes and notched his first save since Jun 11. He blew his last save chance June 13 but has since turned in five straight scoreless innings. Scott has nine saves with a 1.64 ERA and a 35:23 K:BB through 33 innings. Rotowire.com Sunday, 7:39 pm
  • Shifts rehab to Triple-A
Otto (shoulder) has given up three earned runs on one hit and four walks while striking out four across three innings between his two appearances since shifting his rehab assignment to Triple-A El Paso on Tuesday.

Advice: Otto has 33 big-league starts on his resume, but given that he hasn't covered more than two innings in any of his five rehab appearances between Triple-A and the rookie-level Arizona Complex League thus far, the Padres look to be preparing him for a relief role upon his return from the 15-day injured list. The right-hander has been on the shelf all season with a right teres major strain. Rotowire.com Sunday, 6:12 pm

  • Drawing another start
Chirinos is slated to start Tuesday's game against the Royals in Kansas City.

Advice: He'll make another turn through the Miami rotation after he acquitted himself well in his Marlins debut this past Wednesday against the Cardinals, striking out six while allowing two runs on eight hits and no walks over five innings in a no-decision. With the Miami pitching staff having been decimated by injuries of late, Chirinos should have the opportunity to stick in the rotation beyond Tuesday if he continues to perform reasonably well.
