• Planning to play next season
McCutchen indicated earlier this week that he plans to continue his playing career after this season, Jason Mackey of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

Advice: "In my mind, this isn't my last year," McCutchen said. McCutchen will turn 38 in October and is basically a full-time designated hitter at this point. He's been productive this season, however, particularly since being moved into the Pirates' leadoff spot, where he's slashed .273/.359/.459 with nine homers in 195 plate appearances. Mackey writes that he was told by owner Bob Nutting last season that McCutchen "will remain a Pirate for as long as he wants," so it would seem the team would be amendable to a new deal after this season. • Four hits in win
Tatis went 4-for-5 with a solo homer and two runs scored in Thursday's win over the Brewers.

Advice: Tatis recorded hits in each of his first four trips to the plate, including a solo home run in the bottom of the fifth to extend San Diego's lead to 5-3. It was the star outfielder's 14th long ball on the campaign and his fifth this month, during which he's now batting .370 with seven RBI, two stolen bases and 13 runs scored. It also marked Tatis' second four-hit performance this season, both of which have come in June. Rotowire.com Today, 7:47 am
  • Goes yard again Thursday
Winker went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Thursday's loss to the Diamondbacks.

Advice: For the second straight game, Winker went yard in the sixth inning, this time taking Ryne Nelson deep. While those are the veteran outfielder's only two long balls in June, he's otherwise putting together an impressive month, slashing .389/.484/.519 through 17 games with nine runs and 10 RBI. • Pops eighth homer
Thomas went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Thursday's loss to the Diamondbacks.

Advice: The 28-year-old outfielder took Ryne Nelson deep in the third inning to give the Nationals an early lead that quickly slipped away. Thomas had a tough start to the season due to injuries, but he appears healthy now and back in his 2023 form. He's hit safely in 11 of the last 13 games, slashing .292/.345/.667 over that stretch with five of his eight homers on the year and 12 of his 23 runs. Rotowire.com Today, 6:41 am
  • Delivers two in win
Grichuk went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI in Thursday's 5-2 win over the Nationals.

Advice: Grichuk lined a two-out double that plated Arizona's eventual winning run as part of a three-run fourth inning. He's been productive in a part-time role, mainly starting against left-handers, and is batting .304/.360/.464 through 46 games. His .824 OPS is a career-high. Rotowire.com Today, 5:53 am
  • Three hits, three RBI in win
Donovan went 3-for-4 with a home run, a double and three RBI in Thursday's win over the Giants.

Advice: Donovan continued to rake Thursday, posting his fourth three-hit game of the campaign and his third multi-hit performance in his last four contests. The outfielder's two-run blast in the first inning gave the Cardinals an early 3-0 lead, while his two-out, RBI single in the fifth added what would prove to be a pivotal insurance run. Donovan is now up to seven long balls on the season, with three coming this month and two coming over his last three games. He's batting .299 in June with 11 RBI and seven runs scored. • Fernando Tatis Jr. goes 4-for-5, hits 14th homer
Fernando Tatis Jr. went 4-for-5 with a homer versus the Brewers in Thursday’s victory.

Advice: Tatis had the two hardest-hit balls in the game with his 112-mph homer and 111-mph single. It’s been a month since his last multi-RBI game on May 19, but that’s not really his fault. Rotoworld Yesterday, 11:17 pm
  • Report: Astros to recall Joey Loperfido on Friday
KPRC 2 Houston’s Ari Alexander reports the Astros are recalling top prospect Joey Loperfido for Friday’s series opener against the Orioles.

Advice: No surprise here as the injury-depleted Astros find themselves desperate for some extra offensive firepower. The 25-year-old slugging prospect boasts big-time over-the-fence pop, but still has some strikeout issues to address. There might be a clearer path to regular at-bats at first base moving forward with veteran José Abreu no longer in the picture, but he doesn’t have a ton of experience at the cold corner. There’s some mixed-league fantasy potential here if he becomes a mainstay in Houston’s offensive nucleus, but that probably won’t happen overnight. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:14 pm

  • Brendan Donovan leads Cardinals to win over Giants
Brendan Donovan went 3-for-4 with a two-run homer and three RBI on Thursday, powering the Cardinals to a 6-5 victory over the Giants at historic Rickwood Field in Birmingham, Alabama.

Advice: Donovan served as the Cardinals’ primary offensive catalyst in this one as the Alabama native took Giants starter Keaton Winn deep in the opening frame for his seventh big fly of the season. He also plated a key insurance run with a fifth-inning RBI single against Giants lefty reliever Taylor Rogers. The three-hit effort raises his batting average to a solid .258 mark to go along with 33 runs scored, seven homers, 36 RBI and one steal over 69 games. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:08 pm
