  • Another rehab start on tap
Cabrera (shoulder) allowed two runs (one earned) on one hit and one walk with four strikeouts across three innings at Triple-A Jacksonville on Wednesday. He's scheduled to pitch again Tuesday, Daniel Alvarez-Montes of ElExtraBase.com reports.

Advice: Although Cabrera was pegged for the loss Wednesday, he turned in a quality showing in his first minor-league rehab appearance. The 26-year-old is expected to throw four innings or roughly 60 pitches Tuesday as the Marlins work to get Cabrera stretched out and ready to rejoin the big-league rotation. It's unclear if he'll require another appearance at Jacksonville before being activated. Rotowire.com 55 minutes ago

Yankees designated LHP Victor Gonzalez for assignment.

Advice: Gonzalez had a 3.86 ERA in 27 appearances with New York, but the Yankees had a bit of a roster crunch and need a fresh arm after the 17-5 laugher that necessitated nearly eight full innings from the bullpen on Thursday. The Yankees will have seven days to either trade Gonzalez or place him on waivers. Rotoworld Today, 12:42 pm
  • Back in bullpen
The Yankees recalled Gomez from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Friday.

Advice: Gomez fanned the side in his lone appearance with the Yankees earlier this season. He's been used as a starter in the minors but figures to settle in as a long reliever in the majors this time around. Rotowire.com Today, 12:25 pm
