He didn't start Friday, but he entered as a pinch hitter in the seventh inning and delivered with his ninth long ball of the campaign.       Yankees manager Aaron Boone told reporters after Friday’s extra-innings loss to the Dodgers that Juan Soto (forearm) wasn’t available.

      Advice: Soto left Thursday’s game with inflammation in his forearm, and there was some speculation that the outfielder could be available off the bench for Friday’s contest. Several possibilities passed where Soto could have entered, but Boone kept the outfielder on the bench.       CJ Abrams went 1-for-4 with a double, a run scored and a stolen base against the Braves on Friday.

      Advice: Abrams’ steal was his ninth of the season. After racking up 47 steals last year, fantasy managers sure would like to see him run more this year.     • Ryan allows two runs in loss Friday
      Joe Ryan allowed two runs in seven innings and took the loss against the Pirates on Friday night.



      Advice: Ryan gave up two hits, walked two and struck out eight. The runs against Ryan came on an Oneil Cruz solo home run and a sacrifice fly by Nick Gonzales. He pitched well but didn’t get any run support from the Twins lineup. Ryan had won three of his last five previous starts. His ERA is now 3.30 on the season. The 28-year-old right-hander is set to face the Rockies at home next week.

      Advice: The 25-year-old doesn't appear to be dealing with a severe injury and should be considered day-to-day. A quick return to the lineup this weekend is plausible, though Soto is certainly not guaranteed to see the field versus Los Angeles.
