    • Andrés Giménez drives in pair in win over Boston
Andrés Giménez went 2-for-5 with two RBI to help the Guardians to a victory over the Red Sox on Thursday.

Advice: Giménez had a pair of run-scoring singles Thursday, the first of which came in the third to tie the score at 1-1. His second RBI knock came in the fifth to extend Cleveland’s lead to 3-1, and it gives the 25-year-old 11 runs driven in over the first 19 games. He’s not showing much power, but Giménez has still slashed a solid .293/.360/.387 to open the 2024 campaign. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:20 pm

    • Belts third homer
Marte went 1-for-5 with a two-run home run in Wednesday's win over the Pirates.

Advice: The veteran outfielder took Bailey Falter deep in the third inning to get the Mets on the board. Marte has been healthy to begin the season and appears to be back in 20-20 form, slashing .267/.321/.413 through 18 games with three homers, three steals, six RBI and 12 runs. • Working on mechanics
Diaz attributes his early-season velocity drop to his mechanics being a little off after he missed the entire 2023 season with a knee injury, Will Sammon and Tim Britton of The Athletic report.

Advice: The right-hander has averaged 96.6 mph with his four-seam fastball through his first seven appearances this season, down from the 99.1 mph he averaged in 2022 and even the 98.1 mph he averaged in April 2022. Diaz indicated Monday that he was pulling a bit to the first-base side with his delivery, something that seems like he should be able to correct fairly quickly. The velocity drop hasn't impacted his performance, as Diaz has converted all four of his save chances with an impressive 1.29 ERA, 0.57 WHIP and 10:2 K:BB through seven innings. • Collects fifth save
Iglesias walked one in a scoreless 10th inning Wednesday to record his fifth save of the season in a 5-4 win over the Astros.

Advice: After Atlanta grabbed the lead in the top of the 10th, Iglesias walked Kyle Tucker on five pitches to lead off the bottom of the frame and set up a double play, and the right-hander got one from Jeremy Pena to end the game. Iglesias is still looking for his peak velocity -- he topped out at 94.6 mph with his sinker Wednesday, below last season's 95.0 mph average -- and he has just a 3:1 K:BB through his first 6.1 innings. However, the 34-year-old is 5-for-5 in converting save chances and sports a 2.84 ERA and 0.95 WHIP. His job as Atlanta's closer remains secure. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 6:31 am
    • Slugs first homer
Garver went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk in a win over the Reds on Wednesday.

Advice: Garver finally connected on his first round tripper of the season in the sixth inning, snapping a 1-1 tie with a 393-foot shot to left field off Andrew Abbott. The veteran's blast also served as his fourth extra-base hit overall (out of eight total hits), but he's still sporting an ugly .160/.283/.280 slash line through his first 60 plate appearances. • Notches seventh save
Holmes earned the save in Wednesday's 6-4 win over the Blue Jays, allowing one hit in a scoreless ninth inning.

Advice: Holmes has yet to allow an earned run through nine appearances this year and he improved to 7-for-8 in save chances, tying Kyle Finnegan and Ryan Helsley for the league lead. The 31-year-old Holmes is establishing himself as one of the better closing options in baseball, earning a firm grasp on the ninth-inning job in New York after pitching to sub-3.00 ERAs in each of his previous two campaigns. • Goes 5.1 innings in no-decision
Stroman did not factor into the decision Wednesday against Toronto, allowing two runs on six hits and two walks over. 5.1 innings. He struck out two.

Advice: Daulton Varsho's two-run homer in the second inning accounted for the only runs against Stroman, but the Yankees couldn't take the lead until the ninth, leaving the right-hander with a no-decision. Stroman hasn't earned a win since his first start of the year against Houston -- overall, he's 1-1 with a 2.42 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 19:9 K:BB through his first four starts (22.1 innings). Stroman's currently slated to face the A's at home in his next start. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 7:47 pm
    • Mitch Garver belts first home run in win over Reds
Mitch Garver belted his first home run as a member of the Mariners in Wednesday afternoon’s victory over the Reds.

Advice: The 33-year-old slugger belted a go-ahead 393-foot (105.4 mph EV) solo shot off of left-hander Andrew Abbott in the sixth inning, putting the Mariners ahead to stay. That was his only hit in three at-bats on the day, though he did draw a walk as well. The first couple of weeks of the season have been a real struggle for Garver, who is still hitting just .160/.283/.280 with a homer and four RBI. Rotoworld Wednesday, 4:33 pm

    • Clay Holmes quiets Blue Jays for seventh save
Clay Holmes tossed a scoreless ninth inning on Wednesday against the Blue Jays to collect his seventh save of the season.

Advice: Holmes got the call to protect a two-run lead in the bottom of the ninth inning after New York’s lineup erased a two-run deficit in the top of the frame with a four-run explosion. The 31-year-old stopper gave up a one-out single to Kevin Kiermaier, but managed to escape with the lead intact. He’s allowed three unearned runs with a 6/1 K/BB ratio across nine innings (nine appearances) and has converted seven of his eight save opportunities this season. Rotoworld Wednesday, 3:30 pm
