• Shifts to 60-day injured list
Story (shoulder) was transferred to the 60-day injured list Thursday, Gabrielle Starr of the Boston Herald reports.

Advice: The move was strictly procedural, as Story has already been ruled out for the rest of the 2024 season. The transaction opened a 40-man roster spot for the newly acquired Vladimir Gutierrez. Rotowire.com Today, 7:26 pm

  • Orelvis Martinez stays hot with solo homer at AAA
Blue Jays INF prospect Orelvis Martinez went 2-for-5 with a solo homer on Thursday for Triple-A Buffalo.

Advice: Martinez is off to a hot start so far, batting .305 (18-for-59) with three homers and 11 RBI through 15 games. Perhaps the most impressive element of his early-season performance is that he’s cut back on the strikeouts, fanning just 13 times in 64 plate appearances. If he’s able to sustain this run, he could finally make his Toronto debut at some point in the near future. Rotoworld Today, 6:20 pm

  • Launches homer in win
Heim went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run in Thursday's 9-7 win over Detroit.

Advice: Heim extended a hit streak to six games with a second-inning homer to put the Rangers up, 4-0. The catcher has launched three home runs with 15 RBI (third on team) over 17 games. Heim's batting .348 (8-for-23) with runners in scoring position. Rotowire.com Today, 6:19 pm

  • Heston Kjerstad connects for eighth homer at AAA
Orioles OF prospect Heston Kjerstad went 3-for-3 with a solo homer and also stole a base on Thursday for Triple-A Norfolk.

Advice: It’s early, but Kjerstad continues to tear the cover off the ball this season. The 25-year-old slugger is up to eight round-trippers through 18 games for Triple-A Norfolk and boasts a stratospheric 1.151 OPS to date. Rotoworld Today, 6:18 pm
  • Everson Pereira homers twice on Thursday at AAA
Yankees OF prospect Everson Pereira went 3-for-4 with two homers and four RBI on Thursday for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Advice: Pereira struggled last year in a brief 14-game cameo with the Yankees, but has always flashed some big-time power upside. The 23-year-old outfielder still needs to curb his propensity to swing an miss if he’s going to make an impact at the highest level. He certainly looks like a Quad-A masher at the moment, but could easily make the leap into a quality big-league contributor if his plate skills take a step forward. Rotoworld Today, 6:16 pm
  • Shuttled to Las Vegas
Hernaiz was optioned to Triple-A Las Vegas on Thursday, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Hernaiz had started seven of the last eight games for the Athletics, though he went just 3-for-20 with six strikeouts in that span. It's very likely that he'll be back in the majors at some point in 2024, though there's no indication of how long the team plans to keep him in the minors. The move should give Nick Allen the starting job at shortstop while creating a roster spot for Brent Rooker (ribs) to be activated off the injured list. Rotowire.com Today, 6:12 pm

  • Triple, stolen base vs. Guardians
Duran went 1-for-4 with a two-run triple, two runs scored and a stolen base in Thursday's 5-4 loss to Cleveland.

Advice: Duran drew a walk to lead off the home half of the first inning before swiping his seventh bag of the year. The speedy outfielder would then drive in a pair of runs with a triple in the sixth inning, his first three-bagger this season. Duran is now 5-for-17 with three extra-base hits in his last four contests. He's off to a nice start following a promising 2023 campaign, slashing .301/.366/.422 with a home run, 12 runs scored and nine RBI through his first 20 games. Rotowire.com Today, 5:53 pm

  • Homers Thursday
Garcia went 2-for-5 with a solo home run in Thursday's 9-7 win over Detroit.

Advice: Garcia put the Rangers ahead 5-4 in the third inning, blasting a solo shot off Kenta Maeda, his fifth of the year. Garcia had cooled off a bit after a torrid start this season, going 2-for-12 in four games prior to Thursday's contest. The 31-year-old outfielder is now slashing .311/.361/.568 with 18 RBI, 14 runs scored and four steals through his first 20 games on the campaign. Rotowire.com Today, 5:45 pm
