• Hits first home run of season
Springer went 1-4 with a solo home run and an additional run scored during Thursday's win over the Rays.

Advice: Springer kicked off the Blue Jays' scoring Thursday, delivering a solo homer off Zach Eflin in the fourth inning for the team's first run. While he wouldn't get another hit, Springer was walked in the seventh and eventually came around to score on a Bo Bichette double. Batting atop a stacked Toronto lineup once again this season, Springer should provide ample fantasy value from the outfield position. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:53 pm
  • Goes six innings in opener
Eovaldi didn't factor into the decision Thursday, allowing two runs on four hits over six innings versus the Cubs. He struck out three.

Advice: Eovaldi was efficient Thursday, needing just 88 pitches to get through six innings, recording a quality start in the season opener. The 34-year-old right-hander went 12-5 last season with a 3.63 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 132:47 K:BB across 25 starts. The Rangers will rely on Eovaldi to anchor their rotation with Max Scherzer (back) and Jacob DeGrom (elbow) both out until at least midseason. Eovaldi's tentatively lined up for a road start next week in Tampa Bay. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:33 pm
  • Drives in four
Santander went 1-for-4 with a home run and four RBI on Thursday against the Angels.

Advice: Santander drove in Baltimore's first run of the season on a fielder's choice in the first inning. However, he did his biggest damage three frames later, when he took Jose Suarez yard for a two-run homer -- his first of the season. Santander has hit at least 28 home runs in each of the last two campaigns and should remain an excellent source of counting stats in 2024. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:39 pm
  • Struggles in no-decision
Keller allowed five runs (four earned) on seven hits and two walks over 5.2 innings during Thursday's Opening Day win at Miami. He struck out three.

Advice: Keller threw 61 of his 85 pitches for strikes but he was not sharp as the Miami bats seemed to have a beat on him all game. The Pittsburgh righty who signed a five-year contract extension in the offseason left with a three-run deficit, but the Pirates were able to grind their way back into the game, eventually earning the victory and taking Keller off the hook. Expect Keller to rebound in his next start, scheduled to take place mid-week in Washington against the Nationals. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:18 pm
  • Optioned in advance of Opening Day
The Mets optioned Martinez to Triple-A Syracuse on Monday.

Advice: Since Martinez didn't sign with the Mets until last week, he didn't have sufficient time to complete his hitting progression in spring training, so he'll be left off the 26-man active roster ahead of Friday's season opener versus the Brewers. The Mets haven't indicated if Martinez will immediately report to Syracuse for the start of its season Friday, or if he'll continue to see live at-bats at the Mets' spring training facility in Florida. Either way, Martinez will join the Mets and serve as their everyday designated hitter once he spends around 10 days in the minors compiling at-bats, according to Joel Sherman of the New York Post. • Nathan Eovaldi throws six solid in no-decision
Nathan Eovaldi didn’t factor in the decision Thursday against the Cubs after allowing two runs over six innings with one walk and three strikeouts.

Advice: Eovaldi gave up an early run with a sac fly off the bat of Dansby Swanson in the second, but settled down nicely over the next few frames. He did allow an RBI double in the sixth to Cody Bellinger, but outside of that the right-hander had a solid — if unspectacular — outing against the Chicago lineup. Eovaldi was nails for Texas for the majority of the 2023 season, and he’ll be counted on to be the ace of the staff while several Rangers’ starters look to recover from injury. He’ll likely start again early next week against the Rays. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:12 pm
  • Launches first homer
Freeman went 2-for-3 with a two-run homer and an additional RBI in Thursday's 7-1 win over St. Louis.

Advice: Freeman got the scoring started Thursday with an RBI single in the first inning before cranking a two-run homer off Miles Mikolas in the third. The 34-year-old Freeman is coming off a stellar 2023 campaign where he slashed .331/.410/.567 with 29 home runs and 102 RBI. He has a chance to be even more productive this year, batting in the third spot behind Mookie Betts and Shohei Ohtani in a star-studded Dodgers lineup. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 6:57 pm
  • Mitch Keller struggles in no-decision vs. Marlins
Mitch Keller was charged with five runs (four earned) over 5 2/3 innings on Thursday in a no-decision against the Marlins.

Advice: Keller was touched up for seven hits, but managed to keep the ball in the yard, which was enough to give the Pirates’ bullpen a shot in an eventual extra-inning marathon win. He finished with just three strikeouts and also issued a pair of walks. He’ll face off against the Nationals on Tuesday in a road matchup. Rotoworld Yesterday, 5:13 pm
  • Freddie Freeman homers, knocks in three runs
Freddie Freeman contributed a two-run homer, an RBI single and a walk against the Cardinals on Thursday.

Advice: After going without an RBI in South Korea, Freeman drove in runs in his first two at-bats today. The homer in the third inning came after Shohei Ohtani walked on a 3-1 pitch that was very much a strike. Mookie Betts had already homered in the frame, and the top three in the Dodgers order combined to go 5-for-7 with four walks in the contest. Rotoworld Yesterday, 4:06 pm
