    • Nursing ankle issue
Red Sox manager Alex Cora said Abreu twisted his right ankle in the dugout during Sunday's loss to the Tigers and is receiving treatment, Mac Cerullo of the Boston Herald reports.

Advice: The 24-year-old went 1-for-4 with a run scored before he suffered the injury and was replaced by a pinch hitter during the ninth inning. Abreu will have Monday's team off day to aid in his recovery before the start of a two-game series versus Atlanta on Tuesday. Rotowire.com 6 minutes ago

    • Wilyer Abreu getting treatment on his ankle
Red Sox’ manager Alex Cora told reporters after Sunday’s loss to the Tigers that Wilyer Abreu is getting treatment on his ankle.

Advice: The 24-year-old outfielder slipped down the dugout steps late in the game and appeared to roll his ankle. He stayed in the game though, until he was pinch-hit for against left-hander Andrew Chafin in the ninth inning. It doesn’t sound like it’s anything serious, but still something that fantasy managers should take note of heading into next week. Rotoworld 29 minutes ago

    • Not yet swinging
Muncy (oblique) said Sunday he's been shut down from swinging for the past 7-to-10 days after he felt a "twinge" around his rib cage, Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Timesreports.

Advice: The 33-year-old landed on the injured list in mid-May with the oblique strain and doesn't appear to have made significant progress in his recovery. Per David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports, Muncy was able to field groundballs Sunday but is shut down from most baseball activities, so he's likely not particularly close to rejoining the Dodgers. • Raisel Iglesias earns 15th save
Raisel Iglesias pitched a clean ninth inning on Sunday against the Athletics to earn the save.

Advice: Iglesias grabbed another save, but once again did not strike a batter out. His 18.6 K% entering play Sunday is by far the lowest for any reliever with at least 10 saves and should give some concern moving forward. Rotoworld 57 minutes ago
    • Gerrit Cole will need at least two rehab starts
Yankees’ manager Aaron Boone told reporters on Sunday that Gerrit Cole (elbow) will need at least a couple of minor league rehab starts before he’s ready to make his 2024 debut.

Advice: Cole will make his first minor league rehab start at Double-A Somerset on Tuesday. His next turn will come five days after that. If he needs just two starts, his regular season debut would likely come against the Red Sox at some point during their series starting on June 14. If he needs a third tune-up in the minor leagues, it’s likely that his debut would come the following week against the Braves. As long as he avoids any setbacks, his return appears to be imminent. • Beginning rehab stint Tuesday
Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Sunday that Cole (elbow) will begin a rehab assignment Tuesday with Double-A Somerset, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.

Advice: The 33-year-old has thrown multiple sessions of live batting practice over the past couple weeks and has now been cleared to pitch in minor-league games. Cole will require multiple outings in the minors before being ready to join the Yankees, but he's on track to make his season debut during the second half of June. Rotowire.com Today, 11:30 am

    • Still no timetable for Muncy’s (oblique) return
Max Muncy (oblique) told reporters Sunday that he remains without a timetable to return to the Dodgers.

Advice: Muncy felt something while swinging a bat around a week ago and has been shut down from all baseball activities. The 33-year-old has been on the injured list with an oblique strain May 17 with some hope that it’d be a short-term stint, but obviously that wasn’t/isn’t the case. Stay tuned for further updates on Muncy’s status to get a better idea of when the slugger could return. Rotoworld Today, 11:29 am

    • Gerrit Cole (elbow) starting Tuesday in Double-A
Gerrit Cole (elbow) will make a rehab start for Double-A Somerset on Tuesday.

Advice: Cole threw a 43-pitch simulated game Thursday, and now he’ll get a chance to face minor-league hitters as the next stop in his progression. The 33-year-old has missed all of 2024 thus far with his elbow injury, but assuming there are no setbacks, it’s likely the 2023 Cy Young winner will be back in action in the middle of June. • Out against righty Sunday
Gimenez is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Nationals.

Advice: Gimenez took a seat Saturday against southpaw Mitchell Parker, but the lefty-hitting infielder will remain on the bench for the series finale versus the Nationals even while a right-hander (Jake Irvin) takes the bump for Washington. The Guardians may have just been looking to get an extended break for Gimenez, who had started in every game dating back to May 10 before his back-to-back absences. Daniel Schneemann was called up from Triple-A Columbus earlier Sunday and will pick up his first MLB start in place of Gimenez at the keystone. Rotowire.com Today, 10:33 am
