    • Holmes picks up 18th save against Twins
      Clay Holmes tossed a scoreless inning and picked up the save against the Twins on Thursday.

      Advice: The save was Holmes’ 18th of the season. He has allowed an earned run in only one of 28 appearances this year. Holmes has been fabulous with a 1.32 ERA and 28 strikeouts on the season. Rotoworld Thursday, 8:24 pm
       
    • Gray allows three in loss Thursday
      Sonny Gray allowed three runs in 4 2/3 innings and took the loss against the Rockies on Thursday.



      Advice: Gray gave up two hits, walked four and struck out five. It was an uneven start for Gray, who threw 89 pitches. He had two wild pitches, one of which allowed a run to score. Gray also had a pitch clock violation. While his ERA increased to 3.21 on the year, his xFIP is much lower at 2.64.     • Hangs on for fourth save
      Garcia earned the save Thursday against the Orioles despite allowing two runs on a hit in the ninth inning. He struck out two.

      Advice: Garcia had Baltimore down to their final out before hitting Austin Hays with a pitch and subsequently surrendering a two-run homer to Ryan O'Hearn, cutting Toronto's lead to 6-5. However, Garcia would then strike out Kyle Stowers for the final out, securing his fourth save this season. The 33-year-old Garcia has converted both of Toronto's save chances since Jordan Romano (elbow) was placed on the IL on June 1. While he's allowed three runs in his last three innings, Garcia still sports a solid 2.16 ERA with a 0.72 WHIP and 33:7 K:BB across 25 innings this year. Rotowire.com Thursday, 3:10 pm
       
    • Yimi Garcia picks up save despite allowing two runs
      Yimi Garcia was credited with a save even after allowing two runs Thursday to the Orioles.

      Advice: Garcia was handed a three-run cushion, and he needed it. He allowed a two-run homer to Ryan O’Hearn, but was able to limit the damage to just that roundtripper while picking up his fourth save of the year. He also struck out two, and Garcia’s ERA is still an outstanding 2.16 even with the homer. Rotoworld Thursday, 12:37 pm
       
    • Kyle Bradish won’t make scheduled start on Friday
      Orioles manager Brandon Hyde said that the entire rotation for the upcoming series against the Rays is “TBD,” meaning Kyle Bradish will have his start pushed back.

      Advice: Hyde was quick to say that “there are no health concerns for Kyle Bradish,” but the decision was “just about giving him extra rest.” The right-hander was hit hard in his last start against the Rays last week but has a strong 3.18 ERA in 28 1/3 innings since coming back from an elbow injury. There is no word yet on when Bradish will pitch, but if the Orioles decide to have him skip the entire series then he would face the Braves next week. Rotoworld Thursday, 10:13 am
       
    • No health concerns, but start TBD
      Orioles manager Brandon Hyde said Thursday that the decision to push Bradish's next start back isn't related to health concerns, Matt Weyrich of The Baltimore Sun reports.

      Advice: Cade Povich was called up from Triple-A Norfolk to start Thursday versus the Blue Jays in what would have been Bradish's turn, but the move was designed simply to give Bradish extra rest. Hyde wasn't ready to commit to when Bradish would make his next start, however, as the Orioles haven't confirmed any of their four starters for their upcoming series with the Rays that begins Friday. Bradish could take the ball one of those days, but having his turn skipped entirely is also a possibility. The right-hander has been excellent overall since coming off the injured list in early May, but he stumbled his last time out, allowing five runs over just 2.2 innings in a no-decision against the Rays last Saturday.       Garcia (2-0) picked up the win Wednesday over the Orioles, striking out two in a perfect ninth inning.

      Advice: The right-hander needed only 10 pitches (eight strikes) to dispatch Baltimore's 6-7-8 hitters in the ninth, and Garcia got rewarded when Isiah Kiner-Falefa hit a walk-off single in the bottom of the frame. Garcia has recorded a win (one), save (one) or hold (five) in seven of 10 appearances over the last month, posting a 2.53 ERA, 0.94 WHIP and 15:4 K:BB in 10.2 innings during that stretch.       Yimi García was credited with a victory after pitching a scoreless top of the ninth in a tie game Wednesday versus the Orioles.

      Advice: García is the clear favorite for saves in the Toronto pen with Jordan Romano sidelined, but the Jays didn’t hold him back for the 10th or 11th tonight. He now has two wins and three saves to go along with his 1.50 ERA in 24 innings. Rotoworld Wednesday, 8:18 pm

      The Orioles are considering pushing Bradish's next scheduled start back a day to Friday in Tampa Bay, Danielle Allentuck of TheBaltimoreBanner.com reports.

      Advice: Cade Povich will join Baltimore's taxi squad and looks in line to be called up from Triple-A Norfolk to start against the Blue Jays on Thursday, which had been Bradish's turn. Bradish doesn't seem to be battling any physical issue, but rather the team is simply looking to give him a little extra rest.
