    • Belts fifth long ball in victory
Conforto went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and an additional run Monday in a 5-2 win against the Mets.

Advice: Conforto scored San Francisco's first run after singling in the second inning, and he accounted for the team's final tally with a solo shot to right field in the sixth. The performance snapped a nine-game stretch during which the veteran batted just .171 and failed to register a multi-hit effort. Despite that cold snap, Conforto has started the season well, posting a .271/.311/.506 slash line with five homers, 16 RBI and 13 runs through 90 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:44 pm
    • Collects three hits
Cruz went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBI on Monday against the Brewers.

Advice: Cruz hit eighth in the order for the third straight game against a right-handed pitcher as the Pirates seek to get him on track at the plate. He showed some reasons for optimism with his three-hit performance, highlighted by a two-RBI single in the sixth inning that gave the team some insurance runs. Most importantly, Cruz struck out only once after punching out multiple times in seven of his previous 10 games. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:07 pm

    • Fans eight in victory Monday
Cease (3-1) earned the win over Colorado on Monday, allowing one run on one hit and no walks while striking out eight batters over seven innings.

Advice: Cease dominated the Rockies' lineup, yielding just one hit -- a fourth-inning Charlie Blackmon leadoff double that Colorado converted into its only run. The veteran hurler has notched a win in each of his past three starts, giving up just two earned runs and five hits while striking out 22 batters over 19 frames during that stretch. Cease's lack of free passes Monday was also a positive development after he had issued multiple walks in each of his first four starts of the campaign, including five in his previous outing. Cease's season ERA now sits at a sterling 1.82, which is tied for 10th in MLB among qualified starters. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:53 pm
    • Logan O’Hoppe goes 3-for-4 in loss to Angels
Logan O’Hoppe went 3-for-4 against the Orioles on Monday to raise his average to .318.

Advice: Angels manager Ron Washington actually had O’Hoppe hit cleanup once last week, but the catcher has been listed at sixth, eighth and seventh in the three games since. There’s good reason to think O’Hoppe will remain one of the Angels’ better hitters, but the lineup placement is holding him back, especially given how poorly the rest of the bottom of the order has hit. • Dylan Cease limits Rockies to one hit in victory
Dylan Cease allowed one run and one hit over seven innings for the win Monday as the Padres topped the Rockies 3-1.

Advice: This was shaping up as a no-decision when Cease exited a 1-1 game, but the Padres scored twice in the top of the eighth to put him in line for the victory. Cease struck out eight and walked none in improving to 3-1 with a 1.82 ERA. He’ll face the Phillies next. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:19 pm
    • Jackson Merrill goes 2-for-3, drives in run
Jackson Merrill singled twice and drove in one of the Padres’ three runs Monday against the Rockies.

Advice: Merrill made it a 3-1 game with a grounder in the eighth that really should have been handled by Ryan McMahon at third. Of course, it was ruled a hit anyway. Merrill’s MLB career is off to a nice start, as he’s hitting .317/.378/.415 in 90 plate appearances. Statcast thinks his average should be a little lower, but it also believes his slugging percentage should be higher, since he has six barrels and just one homer. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:18 pm
    • Likely headed for IL
Kelly (shoulder) is expected to require a stint on the 15-day injured list, Theo Mackie of The Arizona Republic reports.

Advice: The D-Backs were initially hopeful that Kelly would be able to avoid a 15-day shutdown, but skipper Torey Lovullo stated after Monday's matchup that the right-hander is "most likely" headed to the IL to rehab from a shoulder strain. Arizona will likely wait until Tuesday to make the move official. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:47 pm
    • Oneil Cruz knocks in two in win against Brewers
Oneil Cruz went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBI in Monday’s 4-2 win against the Brewers.

Advice: Cruz had his first game without a strikeout since April 9 and made sure to capitalize with his second three-hit game of the season. The 25-year-old shortstop hasn’t put together a great start to the season but it was encouraging to see him get back on track. His two RBI came in the sixth inning when he hit a blooper into shallow left field off Hoby Milner that scored Connor Joe and Jack Suwinski to extends the Bucs’ lead. • Maikel Garcia goes deep in loss to Blue Jays
Maikel Garcia hit a two-run homer on Monday in the Royals’ loss to the Blue Jays.

Advice: Garcia has cooled off considerably after coming out of the gate on fire to open the regular season, but he managed to take Blue Jays lefty Yusei Kikuchi deep in the sixth inning for his first round-tripper since April 3. The 24-year-old infielder is batting .178 (16-for-90) with 10 runs scored, four homers, 15 RBI and four steals through 22 contests. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:18 pm
