• Bo Bichette collects two hits in win
Bo Bichette went 2-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored in the Blue Jays’ Opening Day win over the Rays.

Advice: Bichette had a well-hit single to continue the Blue Jays’ rally in the sixth inning and then knocked in two runs with a double to left in the seventh inning. Nothing jumps off the page when you look at the box score, but he hit three balls 95 mph or over and continues to hit third in a solid Blue Jays lineup, which will allow him to rack up runs and RBIs throughout the season. • Maikel Garcia homers in Opening Day loss
Maikel Garcia went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in the Royals’ loss to the Twins on Opening Day on Thursday.

Advice: Garcia got the fun started in the bottom of the first inning with a 398-foot home run off Pablo López that left the bat at 99.2 mph. Despite not getting another hit in the game, he also had a 105.2 mph lineout and a 101.2 mph fly out that went 395 feet, so he was seeing the ball incredibly well on Thursday. Now set as the leadoff hitter for the Royals, Garcia could be in for a breakout season.

  • Correa has three hits in Twins’ Opening Day win
Carlos Correa went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBI in a win over the Royals on Opening Day on Thursday.

Advice: Correa’s double was 105.1 mph off the bat against Ragans in the third inning and scored Manuel Margot for the team’s second run of the day. He also singled on a well-hit ball in the 8th innings before racking up his other RBI on a softly hit infield single in the 9th. The veteran is hitting fourth in a solid Twins lineup which should continue to give him a good chance to rack up runs and RBIs, provided everybody can stay healthy.

  • Debuting Thursday
Alexander will bat seventh and serve as Arizona's designated hitter Thursday against Colorado.

Advice: A strong spring earned Alexander a spot on the D-backs' Opening Day roster, and he'll now be making his MLB debut against left-hander Kyle Freeland with Joc Pederson in the dugout. The 24-year-old Alexander slashed .291/.408/.457 with eight home runs and 52 RBI across 305 plate appearances at Triple-A Reno last season. Rotowire.com Today, 1:25 pm

  • Moves to IL
The Yankees placed Peraza (shoulder) on the 10-day injured list Thursday.

Advice: Peraza is facing an expected recovery timeline of 6-to-8 weeks for a right shoulder strain, an injury that first cropped up in late February. Per MLB.com, manager Aaron Boone said last week that Peraza was expected to resume hitting soon, but it's unclear if the 23-year-old has advanced to that portion of his recovery program. Regardless, Peraza be sidelined until around late April or early May, which likely gives Jahmai Jones a multi-week run on the active roster as a utility player. Rotowire.com Today, 12:29 pm

  • On bench after late arrival
Berti is not in the lineup for Thursday's opener in Houston, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.

Advice: After the Yankees acquired him from the Marlins on Wednesday, Berti hopped a flight to Houston but didn't land until 2 a.m. local time, so Yankees manager Aaron Boone elected to start Oswaldo Cabrera over Berti at third base. Both players should see at-bats at the hot corner until DJ LeMahieu (foot) is ready to return from the injured list. Rotowire.com Today, 11:20 am

  • At third base for opener
Cabrera will start at third base and bat ninth in Thursday's season opener in Houston.

Advice: New acquisition Jon Berti was a late arrival in Houston, which is why Cabrera is getting the nod at the hot corner in place of the injured DJ LeMahieu (foot). The Yankees could lean on something of a timeshare at third base between Cabrera and Berti until LeMahieu is ready to return from the injured list. Rotowire.com Today, 11:17 am

  • Reds transfer Matt McLain (shoulder) to 60-day IL
Reds transferred 2B/SS Matt McLain to the 60-day injured list.

Advice: It’s not completely unexpected as the Reds previously stated that they are hoping to get him back at some point this season after the promising 24-year-old underwent left shoulder surgery earlier this week. There is no timetable for his return at the moment. Rotoworld Today, 11:14 am
