• Swats solo shot Monday
Alonso went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Monday's loss to the Giants.

Advice: Alonso accounted for the Mets' first run with a fifth-inning solo blast to left field. The long ball snapped a seven-game homerless drought for the slugger, and he had gone just 4-for-26 with one RBI during that stretch. Alonso still leads the team -- and is tied for third in the majors -- with seven homers on the campaign, though he's knocked in just 12 runs. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:38 pm
  • Pete Alonso hits seventh homer against Giants
Pete Alonso went 2-for-4 and homered against the Giants on Monday.

Advice: Unfortunately, Alonso couldn’t come through again in the ninth, when the Mets scored once off Camilo Doval but still fell three runs short. Alonso is tied for third in the majors with seven homers. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:16 pm
  • Mark Canha homers, knocks in two in win over Rays
Mark Canha went 3-for-4 with a solo home run, two RBI and scored two runs in Monday’s 7-1 win against the Rays.

Advice: Canha got the scoring started in the first frame when he hit a sinker from Zack Littell high in the zone that had 38 degrees of launch angle and went about six or seven rows deep into left field. In the fifth inning, the 35-year-old took advantage of another high pitch from Littell and dropped an RBI single into shallow left field to extend the Tigers’ lead to five. He only has a .247 batting average but he’s coming up clutch when men are on base with a .875 OPS — which if the season ended today, would be his highest mark since the 2018 season when he was with Oakland. There’s plenty of baseball to be played, so fantasy managers shouldn’t expect this type of consistent output, but it’s encouraging nonetheless. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:34 pm

  • Homers, doubles in season debut
Clemens went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run and a double during Monday's 7-0 win over the Reds.

Advice: Clemens filled the role of Bryce Harper (personal) rather admirably, earning the start at first base and contributing two extra-base hits. Following his double in the fourth, Clemens capped his day with a three-run homer over the wall in right center on a full count offering in the ninth to help rubber stamp the Phillies' win. Despite the performance, Clemens is not expected to remain in Philly for too much longer as Harper should return from the paternity list in a few days, likely signaling Clemens' return to Triple-A. • Elehuris Montero goes 0-for-3 in loss
Elehuris Montero finished 0-for-3 with a strikeout versus the Rockies on Monday.

Advice: In spite of a greatly reduced strikeout rate, Montero hasn’t experienced any success in the early going, having hit .210/.250/.226 in 68 plate appearances. If he doesn’t pick it up, there’s the chance the Rockies could DFA him after Kris Bryant returns, though it seems more likely that they’ll just send down Michael Toglia or Sean Bouchard. They still might want to try Hunter Goodman in Montero’s place later. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:18 pm
  • Paul Goldschmidt hits second homer in Cards’ win
Paul Goldschmidt went 2-for-4 with his second home run of the season on Monday in the Cardinals’ win over the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Goldschmidt snapped a 20-game homerless drought with a game-tying solo shot off Arizona reliever Scott McGough in the seventh inning. It was his first round-tripper since Opening Day back on March 28. The 36-year-old veteran first baseman is batting just .195 (16-for-82) with eight runs scored, two homers and nine RBI through 22 games. It’s not what you want. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:37 pm
  • Tossed in eighth inning
Sheets was ejected for arguing balls and strikes in the top half of the eighth inning Monday against the Twins, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Advice: Sheets was unhappy with a called strike three and let the umpire know about it before exiting for the clubhouse. The 28-year-old went 1-for-4 with a pair of strikeouts prior to getting ejected. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 6:56 pm

  • Homers among three hits
Canha went 3-for-4 with a home run, two RBI and two runs scored in Monday's win over the Rays.

Advice: Canha opened the scoring Monday night with a 392-foot solo shot off Zack Littell in the first inning. The 35-year-old veteran later added a second RBI via a single in the fifth inning. Canha has become quite comfortable with his new Detroit team, generating four homers with 11 RBI and 11 runs while slashing .247/.396/.479 over 91 plate appearances. • Kody Clemens blasts three-run home run versus Reds
Kory Clemens went 2-for-4 with a double and a three-run home run on Monday against the Reds.

Advice: Not bad for being the substitute for Bryce Harper. Clemens started at first base Monday night after Harper was placed on paternity leave and made the most of his opportunity when he took one deep against Casey Legumina in the eighth inning to extend Philadelphia’s lead to seven. It’s a nice baseball story, but for fantasy managers with Harper, you’re likely using another player on your roster than scooping up Clemens for a couple games. Rotoworld Yesterday, 5:58 pm
