      Mariners placed INF Jorge Polanco on the 10-day injured list with a strained right hamstring.

      Advice: Polanco aggravated the hamstring Sunday in his fifth appearance back after an eight-day absence due to the same injury. He’s hitting just .195/.293/.302 this season, so the break might be best for everyone. The Mariners will use Dylan Moore and Ryan Bliss at second base for now.       Volpe went 1-for-3 with a walk, a steal and a run scored in Sunday's loss to the Padres.

      Advice: Volpe extended his hitting streak to 19 games with a single in the sixth inning. He would then steal second and come around to score off a Juan Soto double to open up the scoring and force Joe Musgrove out of the game. His hit streak is the longest by a Yankee since Derek Jeter in 2012. Volpe is currently tied for sixth in the American League with 61 hits and tied for fifth with 11 steals. The 23-year-old has been thriving in the leadoff spot for the majority of the season and is now slashing .282/.355/.435 with 18 extra-base hits, 23 RBI, 36 runs and a 22:52 BB:K in 244 plate appearances.       Carroll went 1-for-3 with a walk, a triple and a run scored in Sunday's 3-1 loss to Miami.

      Advice: Arizona's offense couldn't get anything going until Carroll tripled and scored in the bottom of the eighth inning. It was the outfielder's fourth triple of the season, all coming within the last eight games.       Advice: McMahon popped his 10th home run of the season in the first inning, and half of those long balls have come in his last 10 starts. In that span, he's scored 10 runs and driven in 11 while hitting .268.       Miller (shoulder) gave up three earned runs on four hits and two walks while striking out four over three innings Sunday in his first rehab start for Single-A Rancho Cucamonga.

      Advice: Miller's lack of effectiveness prevented him from building up much from the 51-pitch simulated game he logged Tuesday, as he threw only 55 pitches (38 strikes) in his first rehab start.       Corbin Carroll tripled, walked and scored a run as the Diamondbacks fell to the Marlins on Sunday afternoon in Miami.

      Advice: The 23-year-old outfielder smacked a one-out triple off of Calvin Faucher in the eighth inning and dashed home with the Diamondbacks’ first run on a ground ball off the bat of Lourdes Gurriel Jr. While Carroll’s bat has perked up over the past couple of weeks, he’s still slashing an anemic .188/.274/.284 on the season to go along with two homers, 17 RBI and nine stolen bases.       Advice: McMahon is having one of the least-talked-about strong seasons of any player in baseball. The 29-year-old is slashing .294/.377/.500 with 10 home runs and 32 RBI on the year.       Bobby Miller (shoulder) threw 55 pitches over three innings in his first minor league rehab start at Single-A Rancho Cucamonga on Sunday.

      Advice: All that really matters is that the right-hander made it through the start healthy and feeling good. The 25-year-old hurler did allow three runs on four hits and a pair of walks in the ballgame while punching out four. He generated 12 swings and misses on the afternoon.       Jorge Polanco will undergo an MRI exam on his injured left hamstring on Monday.

      Advice: Mariners’ manager Scott Servais told reporters after Sunday’s game that the club will have a better idea on his availability after that exam. The Mariners would probably be best served putting him on the injured list this time around and giving him the proper time to heal, but that’s not the path that they took while allowing him to sit out most of last week on a day-to-day basis.
