    • Sitting against left-hander
Busch is not in the lineup for Friday's game versus the Marlins.

Advice: With southpaw A.J. Puk toeing the slab for the Marlins, the left-handed hitting Busch will receive a day off. Garrett Cooper will handle the first base position for the Cubs on Friday. Rotowire.com Today, 8:44 am

    • May not return this weekend
Rangers manager Bruce Bochy said Wednesday that Lowe will need "about 30 [at-bats], could be more" during his minor-league rehab assignment before returning from the 10-day injured list, Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Advice: After kicking off his rehab assignment at Double-A Frisco last Friday, Lowe looked as though he could be ready to rejoin the Rangers by the weekend. However, Bochy's comments suggest that the Rangers are planning for Lowe to have a more extended stay in the minors to get his timing back at the plate before reinstalling him as their everyday first baseman. Lowe has since shifted his assignment to Triple-A Round Rock and has gotten in 16 at-bats over five total minor-league games, recording just one hit (a home run) while drawing two walks. If Bochy sticks to his estimate of Lowe needing about 30 at-bats before being activated, the 28-year-old seems poised to remain with Round Rock through the weekend before rejoining the Rangers for the start of their homestand next Tuesday. • Improves to 2-0
Blackburn (2-0) allowed three runs on six hits and five walks over 5.2 innings in a win over the Cardinals on Wednesday. He struck out seven.

Advice: Blackburn struggled with his command out of the gate, surrendering a leadoff single to open the game before walking two batters in the first inning. He then went 1-2-3 through the next two innings, even striking out the side in the second, but was tagged for three runs in the fourth after allowing three consecutive hits to begin the frame. The right-hander had not allowed a run through his first three starts coming into Wednesday's matchup, while it also marked the first time this season in which he failed to make it through at least six innings. Blackburn also recorded a season-high seven strikeouts in the win and currently holds a 1.08 ERA on the season, though he's now issued seven walks over his last two starts. • Notches seventh save
Holmes earned the save in Wednesday's 6-4 win over the Blue Jays, allowing one hit in a scoreless ninth inning.

Advice: Holmes has yet to allow an earned run through nine appearances this year and he improved to 7-for-8 in save chances, tying Kyle Finnegan and Ryan Helsley for the league lead. The 31-year-old Holmes is establishing himself as one of the better closing options in baseball, earning a firm grasp on the ninth-inning job in New York after pitching to sub-3.00 ERAs in each of his previous two campaigns. • Continues hot streak
Turner went 3-for-5 with a solo home run and an additional run scored during Wednesday's 7-6 win over Colorado.

Advice: Turner went back-to-back with Kyle Schwarber in the first inning for solo home runs off Ryan Feltner, marking the shortstop's second long ball of 2024. He's been on a tear during the Phillies' last two series, going 12-for-29 (.413) at the plate with six extra-base hits and seven runs scored over seven games. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 6:53 pm

    • Trea Turner a triple short of a cycle Wednesday
Trea Turner went 3-for-4 with a home run and two runs scored on Wednesday against the Rockies.

Advice: Turner followed Kyle Schwarber’s first-inning leadoff homer with one of his own, taking Ryan Feltner deep for his second home run of the season. He added a base hit in the second inning and doubled to lead off the fifth before scoring on a groundout. The 30-year-old shortstop is slashing .333/.390/.493 with the pair of homers, four steals, and 12 runs scored across 82 plate appearances. Rotoworld Wednesday, 6:08 pm

    • Clay Holmes quiets Blue Jays for seventh save
Clay Holmes tossed a scoreless ninth inning on Wednesday against the Blue Jays to collect his seventh save of the season.

Advice: Holmes got the call to protect a two-run lead in the bottom of the ninth inning after New York’s lineup erased a two-run deficit in the top of the frame with a four-run explosion. The 31-year-old stopper gave up a one-out single to Kevin Kiermaier, but managed to escape with the lead intact. He’s allowed three unearned runs with a 6/1 K/BB ratio across nine innings (nine appearances) and has converted seven of his eight save opportunities this season. Rotoworld Wednesday, 3:30 pm

    • Paul Blackburn hurls 5 2/3 frames in win over Cards
Paul Blackburn allowed three runs over 5 2/3 innings on Wednesday in a win over the Cardinals.

Advice: Blackburn was all over the place in this one, finishing with a season-high seven strikeouts, while also handing out a staggering five free passes. The 30-year-old’s remarkable season-opening three-start scoreless streak came to an end in the fourth inning when Willson Contreras delivered a run-scoring double. He’s emerged as a viable streaming option for fantasy managers at the outset of the year, but there’s obviously some regression looming from a run-prevention standpoint. He’ll bring a spectacular 1.08 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 18/8 K/BB ratio across 25 innings (four starts) into a challenging road tilt on Tuesday against the Yankees. Rotoworld Wednesday, 3:09 pm
    • Used before ninth inning Tuesday
Munoz recorded his third hold in a win over the Reds on Tuesday, firing 1.1 scoreless innings during which he allowed a hit and a walk while recording three strikeouts.

Advice: Munoz relieved Logan Gilbert with two outs in the seventh inning and a man on, and after issuing a walk to Elly De La Cruz, he surrendered a hit to Nick Martini but was bailed out when De La Cruz was thrown out at third base on a stellar outfield assist by Julio Rodriguez. Munoz was exponentially more effective in the eighth inning while recording swinging strikeouts against all three batters he faced to preserve Seattle's 3-1 lead, and he then saw Ryne Stanek entrusted with the ninth inning until Stanek worked himself into trouble and was bailed out by Tayler Saucedo. The Mariners' closer role therefore appears to be somewhat in flux, but Munoz has four straight scoreless appearances during which he's picked up his most recent save, a win and back-to-back holds.
