    • Launches first career homer
Wood went 2-for-5 with a double, a home run and five RBI in Saturday's 14-6 rout of the Cardinals.

Advice: It was a huge day for the Nationals' young offense, and Wood was at the center of the eruption, crushing an opposite-field three-run home run off Lance Lynn in the second inning. It took the 21-year-old only six MLB games to launch his first homer, and Wood hasn't had much trouble adjusting to big-league pitching since his promotion, batting .304 (7-for-23) with a 4:6 BB:K. • Nick Lodolo (finger) throws bullpen session
Nick Lodolo (finger) threw a bullpen session Saturday.

Advice: Lodolo has been on the injured list since June 25 while dealing with a blister issue. The southpaw hurler has completed two sessions over the last week, and he’s eligible to come off the list Tuesday. There’s no timetable for when he’ll actually return, and there’s a chance that we won’t see Lodolo until after the All-Star break, but it’s at least positive that he’s able to throw right now. • Completes side session Saturday
Lodolo (finger) threw a bullpen session Saturday, MLB.com reports.

Advice: The throwing session was Lodolo's second in four days, as he had previously tossed 20 pitches to hitters in live batting practice Wednesday. Given that he's been on the injured list only since June 25 with a left finger blister, Lodolo will likely be able to bypass a minor-league rehab assignment, though it's not immediately clear if he'll be activated from the IL during the final week before the All-Star break. The Reds have already announced their starters through Wednesday, so Thursday's series finale versus the Rockies would likely be the earliest date that Lodolo might be activated. • Carries offense in loss
Diaz went 3-for-3 with a walk, a double and a three-run home run in Saturday's 4-3 loss to the Rangers.

Advice: His seventh-inning shot off Jacob Latz gave the Rays a brief lead, but the bullpen immediately squandered it in the bottom of the frame. Four of Diaz's eight homers on the season have come in his last 14 games, a stretch in which he's slashing .311/.344/.574 with four doubles and 12 RBI -- although curiously, the only runs he's scored during that time have come on his own home runs, despite the fact that he's consistently batting leadoff for Tampa Bay. • Goes deep again
Ozuna went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and a double in Saturday's 5-1 win over the Phillies.

Advice: Ozuna has homered in back-to-back games, and Saturday saw him produce his first multi-hit effort since June 23. The designated hitter has lost some consistency at the plate after hitting well early in June, but he's still a major power threat. Ozuna is slashing .298/.379/.571 with 23 homers, 72 RBI, 51 runs scored and 19 doubles across 87 contests this season. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:26 pm

    • Takes third loss
Suarez (10-3) allowed five runs on six hits and two walks while striking out seven over five innings to take the loss versus Atlanta on Saturday.

Advice: Only three Atlanta batters got hits in the contest, but they each had two against Suarez. Ozzie Albies and Marcell Ozuna each homered and combined to drive in all five runs. Suarez has allowed 15 runs (13 earned) across 15.2 innings over his last three starts, accounting for three of the four times he's given up at least four runs this year. He's at a 2.58 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 106:23 K:BB through 108 innings over 18 starts. Suarez will look to end his early-summer swoon in a favorable home start versus the Athletics next week. • Returning from rehab assignment
Nootbaar (oblique) said he has finished his rehab assignment with Triple-A Springfield and is heading to St. Louis, Rob Rains of StLSportsPage.com reports. It's unclear if Nootbaar will join the Cardinals in Washington D.C. or wait for the team to return Tuesday.

Advice: Nootbaar had a postgame phone call with Cardinals manager Oli Marmol on Saturday to determine whether or not the outfielder was ready to return from his assignment, which resulted in Nootbaar being brought back from Springfield. The Cardinals are finishing up a road series with the Nationals on Monday before returning to St. Louis for a five-game homestand. However, it's unknown at this point if Nootbaar will join the team before they return home. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:00 pm

    • Marcell Ozuna slugs two-run homer in win Saturday
Marcell Ozuna slugged a two-run homer in the opening inning on Saturday, helping to power the Braves to victory over the Phillies.

Advice: Ozuna tattooed a first-pitch curveball from Ranger Suárez for a 414-foot (106.0 mph EV) two-run shot that increased the Braves’ early edge to 3-0 and proved to be the difference in the ballgame. He also smacked a double in the ballgame, finishing the night 2-for-4. On the season, the 33-year-old slugger is now hitting .298/.379/.571 with 23 homers and 72 RBI on the season. • Ranger Suárez struggles in loss to Braves Saturday
Ranger Suárez had his second straight rough outing in Saturday’s loss to the Braves, surrendering five runs on six hits over his five innings of work.

Advice: The 28-year-old southpaw racked up seven strikeouts on the night while issuing a pair of free passes. Most of the damage done against him came via the long ball, with Marcell Ozuna clubbing a two-run homer to cap off a three-run first inning and Ozzie Albies smacking a two-run homer in the fifth. Suárez got 13 swings and misses on 91 pitches on the night, registering a CSW of 27 percent. This was the third straight rough start for Suárez who has seen his impeccable 1.75 ERA swell to 2.58. He’ll look to get back on track and finish the first half strong when he takes on the Athletics at home on Friday. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:24 pm
