    • Notches fourth steal
Witt went 2-for-4 with a stolen base and a run scored in a 4-2 win over the White Sox in the first game of Wednesday's doubleheader.

Advice: Witt also went 1-for-4 in the nightcap. He's hit safely in five of the last seven games, batting .333 (10-for-30) in that span. The shortstop is off to another strong start in 2024 with a .321/.369/.628 slash line, four home runs, four steals, eight RBI, 18 runs scored, six doubles and three triples across 84 plate appearances. He's also striking out at a 22.6 percent clip, a bit higher than the 17.4 percent mark he had last year, but that's a fair trade-off for more contact. Rotowire.com Today, 10:35 am
    • Goes deep Wednesday
Santander went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 4-2 win over the Twins.

Advice: Santander has gone 3-for-18 over his last five contests. That's not a great stretch, but so far, he's in little danger of losing playing time as manager Brandon Hyde gets creative to keep Colton Cowser in the lineup. Santander is batting .203 with four homers, 15 RBI, nine runs scored, two doubles and no stolen bases through 74 plate appearances as the Orioles' primary right fielder. Rotowire.com Today, 10:17 am
    • Smacks fifth homer
Alvarez went 2-for-5 with a solo home run and two runs scored Wednesday against Atlanta.

Advice: Alvarez took lefty Max Fried deep in the first inning to tally his fifth homer of the season. He had been quiet with the bat in seven games prior, during which he tallied no extra-base hits and hit just .136. Overall, Alvarez's line looks quite similar to expectations, as he's maintained a .289 batting average and .526 slugging percentage across the first 88 plate appearances of the campaign. • Blows save Wednesday
Robertson gave up a run on two hits and a walk over 1.1 innings Wednesday, getting charged with his second blown save of the season in a 5-4 win over the Tigers. He struck out one.

Advice: The veteran right-hander entered the game with one on and one out in the seventh inning to protect a 4-3 lead, and while he escaped that small jam, Robertson couldn't stop Detroit from tying things up in the bottom of the eighth. It's only the second run he's allowed this season, and the 39-year-old has been busy to begin the year, posting a 1.69 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 10:4 K:BB through 10.2 innings. Despite those strong ratios, he's 0-for-2 in converting save chances while adding a win and six holds in his 10 appearances, while Kirby Yates seems to be strengthening his grip on the closer role for Texas. • Potential save becomes win
Yates (2-0) picked up the win in Wednesday's 5-4 victory over the Tigers. He walked one and struck out four over 1.1 scoreless innings.

Advice: The Rangers had a 4-1 lead entering the bottom of the sixth inning but allowed Detroit to score single runs in the next three frames to tie the game. Yates entered to get the final out of the eighth inning and was the pitcher of record when Josh Smith doubled in the go-ahead run in the top of the ninth. Yates, who has not allowed a run over 7.1 innings, has become the closer following the removal of Jose Leclerc from that role. Rotowire.com Today, 6:13 am
    • Goes 5.1 innings in no-decision
Stroman did not factor into the decision Wednesday against Toronto, allowing two runs on six hits and two walks over. 5.1 innings. He struck out two.

Advice: Daulton Varsho's two-run homer in the second inning accounted for the only runs against Stroman, but the Yankees couldn't take the lead until the ninth, leaving the right-hander with a no-decision. Stroman hasn't earned a win since his first start of the year against Houston -- overall, he's 1-1 with a 2.42 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 19:9 K:BB through his first four starts (22.1 innings). Stroman's currently slated to face the A's at home in his next start. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:47 pm
    • Marcus Stroman lasts 5 1/3 frames vs. Blue Jays
Marcus Stroman surrendered two runs over 5 1/3 innings on Wednesday in a no-decision against the Blue Jays.

Advice: Stroman was tagged for six hits with a second-inning homer by Daulton Varsho accounted for all of the damage against him in this one. He notched only two strikeouts and also issued a pair of walks. He’ll bring a solid 2.42 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 19/9 K/BB ratio across 22 1/3 innings (four starts) into an extremely tasty home matchup on Tuesday against the rebuilding Athletics. • David Robertson charged with blown save in eighth
David Robertson took a blown save after giving up a run in the eighth against the Tigers on Wednesday.

Advice: Robertson came in with a man on in the seventh and retired back-to-back batters to preserve a one-run lead then. He then got the first out of the eighth, only to give up a run on a single, a groundout that advanced the runner and another single that barely eluded Corey Seager. It went as his second blown save. He’s allowed just two runs in 10 2/3 innings, and he remains a threat for saves in the Texas pen, but it seems like manager Bruce Bochy prefers Kirby Yates right now. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:24 pm
    • Kirby Yates gets win in relief for Rangers
Kirby Yates struck out four of the five batters he faced and was credited with a win Wednesday against the Tigers.

Advice: Yates came on in the eighth after David Robertson gave up the tying run and got out of the jam then. He then got the win after the Rangers went back ahead in the top of the ninth. Yates still hasn’t given up a run this season, and he’s up to nine strikeouts in 7 1/3 innings. It looks like he’ll get most of the save chances over Robertson for now. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:24 pm
