    • Stanton back in the lineup Friday
Giancarlo Stanton is back in the lineup, batting fifth for the Yankees against the White Sox on Friday.

Advice: Stanton had a routine day off on Thursday with the Yankees playing a day game after a night game. He’s past his prime at this point of his career, but the 34-year-old has still managed to blast nine home runs and 22 RBI in 144 at-bats this year. Rotoworld Friday, 12:16 pm

    • Giancarlo Stanton gets a day off on Thursday
Giancarlo Stanton is not in the lineup for the Yankees on Thursday against the Twins.

Advice: With Aaron Judge at designated hitter on Thursday, the Yankees will give Stanton a day off and let Trent Grisham patrol centerfield. While Stanton is striking out 37 percent of the time in 11 games in May, he’s also hitting .267 with three home runs and six RBI during the month. It’s just a routine day off. • Hitting bench in series finale
Stanton is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Twins.

Advice: Stanton will get a breather for the day game after a night game, ceding his spot in the lineup to Trent Grisham, who will man center field while Aaron Judge slots into Stanton's usual role at designated hitter. After making 33 starts in the corner outfield in 2023, Stanton has been deployed exclusively at DH through the first quarter of the 2024 season. Given Stanton's lengthy injury history, the Yankees will likely look to keep him in a non-defensive role so long as the likes of Judge, Juan Soto and Alex Verdugo all maintain health. • Jackson Chourio swats 441-foot homer in blowout
Jackson Chourio went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer on Wednesday in the Brewers’ blowout win over the Pirates.

Advice: Chourio obliterated a 441-foot no-doubter to left field off Pirates veteran lefty Martín Pérez in the sixth inning for his fifth round-tripper of the season. The 20-year-old top prospect has undoubtedly been scuffling at the plate recently, but this was the type of moonshot that could potentially get him going again. It was his first time leaving the yard since April 20. He’s still a work in progress, but he’s shown flashes of immense five-category fantasy upside so far in his Brewers debut. It’s only a matter of time before he makes the leap to superstardom. Rotoworld Wednesday, 12:56 pm

    • Back on bench Wednesday
Merrifield is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Mets.

Advice: With Bryce Harper (migraine) and Kyle Schwarber (back) both missing time in recent days, Merrifield was one of the main beneficiaries. He started in seven of the previous eight games while manning three different positions, but Merrifield provided just three hits over 32 at-bats over that stretch to bring his batting average down to .188. Both Harper and Schwarber are simultaneously in the lineup for the first time since last Friday, so Merrifield will retreat to the bench and will most likely be in store for a reduction in playing time moving forward. • Gets fourth straight start
Chourio will start in left field and bat eighth in Wednesday's game against the Pirates.

Advice: Chourio was on the bench for a stretch of four straight games from last Wednesday through Saturday, but he's now picked up starts in each of the subsequent four contests. Though he's reached base only twice over his last nine contests and carries a weak .579 OPS for the season into Wednesday's game, Chourio could nonetheless continue to see near-everyday playing time while Jake Bauers sees less time in the corner outfield and fills in at first base for the injured Rhys Hoskins (hamstring). Additionally, the struggling Blake Perkins -- who sat against right-handed starting pitchers both of the previous two days -- seems to have moved into more of a fourth-outfielder role of late. • Power trending up
Arozarena went 1-for-5 with a solo home run and two runs scored Tuesday against the Red Sox.

Advice: Arozarena slugged his eighth home run of the season and fifth in his last 11 games. He's also stolen three bags in that span. While his counting stats have been trending positively, Arozarena has still struck out at a 31.5 percent clip in May, leading to a .205 batting average for the month. • Riley Greene sits, Kerry Carpenter starts vs. LHP
Riley Greene is getting a scheduled day off Wednesday, with Kerry Carpenter starting in right field against a lefty.

Advice: It’s the first time all season that Carpenter has been in the lineup against a southpaw and only the second time Greene has been rested. As great as Greene has been against righties this season, he’s hitting a mere .189/.268/.378 against southpaws, Rotoworld Wednesday, 7:30 am

    • Smacks sixth homer
Joe went 1-for-3 with a walk, a solo home run and two runs scored Tuesday against the Brewers.

Advice: Joe returned to the lineup after sitting Monday and has started nine of Pittsburgh's 12 games in May. He's hit .294 with three home runs, seven runs scored and seven RBI in that span, and he lifted his sixth long ball of the season Monday. Joe should continue to get regular run at both first base and in right field as one of the Pirates' more productive hitters. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 7:18 am
