      Advice: Altuve had a productive day from the leadoff spot that included the go-ahead RBI in the seventh inning. He also stole his seventh base of the season and third in his last two contests.       Bibee (2-1) took the loss Friday against the Angels after giving up six earned runs on eight hits and a walk while striking out four batters across five innings.

      Advice: Coming off an incredible seven-inning shutout performance against Atlanta in his last start, Bibee turned in one of his worst performances of the season against an injury-riddled Angels lineup. He gave up a solo homer to Nolan Schanuel in the third inning before allowing four more runs to score in the fifth, capped off by a three-run shot from Mickey Moniak.       Alzolay (1-4) allowed three runs on four hits while retiring just a single batter to take the loss Friday against the Brewers.

      Advice: Alzolay came on with one out in the eighth inning and promptly got into trouble, allowing a couple of quick singles before recording an out. The Brewers also ran freely on Alzolay, stealing three bases while he was on the mound. It's been a rough start to the season for the righty, as he's saddled with a 5.54 ERA and has been removed from the closer's role in favor of Hector Neris.     • Tanner Bibee struggles in loss to Angels on Friday
      Tanner Bibee struggled in a losing effort against the Angels on Friday night, allowing six runs on eight hits over his five innings of work.

      Advice: Bibee walked one and struck out four in the contest. The 25-year-old right-hander followed up one of his best starts of the season with an absolute dud against a depleted Angels’ squad on Friday night. The bulk of the damage came via the long ball, with Nolan Schanuel clubbing a solo homer in the third inning and Mickey Moniak adding a three-run blast in the fourth. Bibee generated nine swings and misses on 91 pitches on the night, posting an underwhelming CSW of only 23 percent.       Jose Altuve went 1-for-4 with an RBI single in a win Friday over the Mariners.

      Advice: Altuve hit a perfect safety squeeze to knock in his 12th run of the game and give Houston a 4-3 lead in the seventh inning. The steal was the seventh of the season and 300th of his career. Altuve has been sensational thus far in 2024, and is playing near — if not at — the MVP level he reached not all that long ago.       Cruz went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Friday's 3-2 loss to the Rockies.

      Advice: The 25-year-old shortstop had gone 17 straight games without a homer coming into Friday and nearly made it 18. but he got hold of a Jalen Beeks changeup in the ninth inning to make things close for the Pirates. It was Cruz's fourth long ball of the season and his first off a southpaw, and the RBI were his first since April 22. While the performance was encouraging, he still sports a disappointing .240/.287/.364 slash line through 33 contests with three steals, nine runs and 10 RBI. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:40 pm

    • Oneil Cruz hits fourth homer versus Rockies
      Oneil Cruz hit a two-run homer to provide the only scoring for the Pirates against the Rockies on Friday.

      Advice: Unfortunately, the Pirates were down three in the ninth at the time. To go along with his 111.7-mph homer, Cruz also had a 111-3 mph line drive, that unfortunately was hit right at the center fielder, and a 103.3-mph groundout.     • Adbert Alzolay gives up three runs to take loss
      After coming in with a 1-0 lead in the eighth, Adbert Alzolay gave up three runs on four hits to take a loss to the Brewers on Friday.

      Advice: All four hits were singles, and three of them were soft, coming in at 80 mph or less. Two were grounders perfectly placed in between Dansby Swanson and Nico Hoerner up the middle. To be fair, Alzolay was missing his spots, and he hurt his cause by paying no attention to the baserunners and giving up three steals. Obviously, this won’t help his chances of seeing saves again anytime soon.       Altuve went 3-for-5 with a run, an RBI and two stolen bases in an 8-2 victory versus Cleveland on Thursday.

      Advice: Altuve continued his recent stretch of hot hitting, notching his third multi-hit effort over his past four contests. The veteran second baseman added a pair of thefts Thursday, and he's now swiped six bags over his past 15 games after failing to record a steal across his initial 16 contests of the campaign.
