    • MJ Melendez heads to IL with left ankle sprain
Royals placed OF MJ Melendez on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to July 15, with a left ankle sprain.

Advice: Melendez suffered the ailment during Sunday’s first-half finale against the Red Sox and is most likely going to wind up missing a couple weeks coming out of the All-Star break. The 25-year-old corner outfielder posted an underwhelming .642 OPs with 11 homers, 29 RBI and two steals in 85 games prior to the Midsummer Classic. Rotoworld Tuesday, 12:31 pm

    • On 10-day IL
The Royals placed Melendez on the 10-day injured list Tuesday.

Advice: Melendez suffered a sprained left ankle during Sunday's 5-4 loss to the Red Sox and will miss at least the Royals' first six games coming out of the All-Star break before he's eligible for activation July 26. While Melendez is sidelined, Dairon Blanco and Garrett Hampson should see action in left field. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 12:22 pm

    • Late addition to All-Star Game
Finnegan was named to the National League All-Star team Monday.

Advice: Finnegan wasn't initially named an All-Star, but he'll be available to make his first appearance in the Midsummer Classic after being added as a replacement on the roster for Ryan Helsley. The 32-year-old has the third-most saves in baseball (25) and has recorded a 2.45 ERA across 40.1 innings. Rotowire.com Monday, 2:28 pm

    • Lifts 15th homer
Happ went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and a double in Sunday's 8-3 win over the Cardinals.

Advice: Happ has enjoyed a productive July so far, going 15-for-46 (.326) with four homers and 13 RBI over 13 games. The outfielder is up to 15 homers, 57 RBI, 53 runs scored, 23 doubles and seven stolen bases while slashing .243/.352/.548 through 92 contests. Happ has maintained his starting role in left field even through cold stretches, so there's little risk of him losing playing time once this hot streak ends. Rotowire.com Sunday, 3:55 pm

    • Should be back after All-Star break
Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo said Sunday that he feels good about Montgomery's (knee) chances of returning from the 15-day injured list for the first turn through the rotation coming out of the All-Star break, Alex Weiner of ArizonaSports.com reports.

Advice: Montgomery threw a two-inning, 40-pitch simulated bullpen session Friday and apparently responded favorably. Though he won't have the opportunity to head out on a minor-league rehab assignment during the upcoming week due to the All-Star break, the southpaw should be able to push up his pitch count with another simulated game in Arizona. Lovullo didn't specify whether Montgomery was likely to start in the Diamondbacks' first series of the second half next weekend in Arizona or the following series in Kansas City, but the club already opened up a spot in the rotation for the 31-year-old when they optioned Slade Cecconi to Triple-A Reno on Thursday. • José Ramírez goes hitless in loss
José Ramírez went 0-for-4 with a strikeout in a loss to the Rays on Sunday.

Advice: Ramírez was up in the ninth inning with two runners on, nobody out, and the Guardians down by two, but he popped up to the infield. The All-Star is now 11-for-51 in July (.216 average) with no home runs and just one RBI. It’s been a pretty brutal month, but there’s nothing much to do about it from a fantasy perspective. Ramírez is still having a solid all-around season, so you need to just keep him in your lineup and hope the All-Star break helps. Rotoworld Sunday, 1:02 pm
    • Lifted with ankle sprain
Melendez was removed in the top of the fourth inning of Sunday's game against the Red Sox due to a left ankle sprain.

Advice: Melendez went hitless with an RBI in two at-bats on the afternoon and appeared to suffer the injury while he was running out a groundball. Though he reached base on a fielder's choice, Melendez was immediately lifted for a pinch runner. The severity of the ankle sprain isn't known, but Melendez could be sent in for an MRI over the All-Star break if the Royals fear that the injury is more than a minor concern. • MJ Melendez diagnosed with left ankle sprain
MJ Melendez has been diagnosed with a left ankle sprain.

Advice: Melendez suffered the injury while beating out a potential double-play grounder Sunday against the Red Sox. It’s unclear if he’ll require a stint on the injured list, but the Royals can wait to see how he recovers during the All-Star break. Rotoworld Sunday, 12:33 pm

    • MJ Melendez exits game with apparent injury
MJ Melendez exited Sunday’s game against the Red Sox with an apparent injury.

Advice: Melendez beat out a potential double-play grounder before suffering what appeared to be a foot or ankle injury. The Royals should provide an official update soon. Rotoworld Sunday, 11:54 am
