    • Mason Miller whiffs two in All-Star Game outing
      Mason Miller recorded a pair of strikeouts in a scoreless inning during Tuesday’s MLB All-Star Game at Globe Life Field.

      Advice: Miller’s flawless frame also included an eye-popping strikeout of Shohei Ohtani on a nasty 89 mph slider on the heels of a 101.8 mph fastball. He also delivered a sizzling 103.6 mph fastball, the fastest pitch in All-Star Game history in the Statcast era, prior to striking out Trea Turner. Fantasy managers are looking at arguably the best closer in baseball right now. The hard-throwing 25-year-old righty talked earlier this week about potentially returning to the starting rotation in the future, which would be a pretty significant development for his fantasy appeal.     • Ketel Marte to lead off for NL All-Star squad
      Ketel Marte will lead off for Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo in the NL All-Star lineup.

      Advice: It’s a defensible choice, though Shohei Ohtani is right there, and Trea Turner and Christian Walker also might have been better options. Marte will be followed by Ohtani, Turner, Bryce Harper, William Contreras, Yelich, Alex Bohm, Teoscar Hernández and Jurickson Profar. Rotoworld Monday, 1:15 pm
       
    • Homers as part of three hit day
      Guerrero went 3-for-5 with a solo homer, a double and two runs scored in Sunday's 8-7 win over the Diamondbacks.

      Advice: After surrendering a 7-0 lead in the fifth, Guerrero swung the momentum back in the Blue Jays direction with a monstrous solo home run to center field in the seventh to put his team back up 8-7 and the score would hold there. The home run was his first this month and his eighth three-hit performance of the year. After a blistering end to June, Guerrero has cooled off a bit in July and is slashing .229/.250/.354 with his one homer, eight RBI and seven runs scored in 50 plate appearances.     • Completes second rehab outing
      Blackburn (foot) worked two-thirds of an inning in his rehab outing with Triple-A Las Vegas on Sunday, allowing a hit and a walk while recording a strikeout. He also hit a batter.

      Advice: Blackburn's busy outing featured 23 pitches due to his subpar control, with the right-hander locating 14 of those offerings for strikes. He was originally slated to remain with Single-A Stockton for Sunday's rehab appearance after an even poorer outing that also lasted two-thirds of an inning Tuesday. However, that plan was apparently altered in recent days, and Blackburn may now remain with Las Vegas for the duration of his rehab assignment. Given how his first two minor-league appearances have unfolded, Blackburn will likely remain on the farm for at least another couple of outings before he's reinstated from the 60-day injured list.       Yates picked up the save Sunday against the Astros, allowing one run on a hit and a walk with no strikeouts across one inning.

      Advice: While Yates advanced to 16-for-16 in save opportunities this season, he snapped his streak of eight consecutive scoreless innings. The 37-year-old walked Jon Singleton and yielded a single to Jeremy Pena to start the ninth frame, with Singleton eventually coming around to score on a groundout by Joey Loperfido.       Advice: As a team, the Rangers logged only three hits Sunday. Two of those came off Smith's bat, and each wound up in the stands for the 26-year-old's first career multi-homer game.     • Vladimir Guerrero Jr. powers Jays past D’Backs
      Vladimir Guerrero Jr. clobbered a go-ahead solo homer in the seventh inning on Sunday, leading the Blue Jays to an 8-7 victory over the Diamondbacks.

      Advice: The two sides traded seven-run rallies in the fourth and fifth inning on Sunday, then Guerrero Jr. swung the game back in the Jays’ direction with a 438-foot (109.9 mph EV) go-ahead solo shot off of Kevin Ginkel in the seventh. He also singled and doubled in the ballgame, finishing the day 3-for-5 with a pair of runs scored. On the season, the 25-year-old slugger is now hitting .288/.359/.456 with 14 long balls and 55 RBI.       Ketel Marte blasted a grand slam homer on Sunday afternoon, but it wasn’t enough to power the Diamondbacks to victory over the Blue Jays.

      Advice: Marte got the Diamondbacks’ offense started with a monstrous 443-foot (109.8 mph EV) grand slam as part of a seven-/run uprising off of Yusei Kikuchi in the fifth inning. He also had a pair of singles in the ballgame, finishing the day 3-for-5. The All-Star second baseman finishes the first half hitting .292/.362/.515 with 19 homers, 57 RBI and six stolen bases.       Josh Smith went 2-for-4 with two two-run homers in a 4-2 win over the Astros.

      Advice: Smith was the Rangers’ offense in this one. His first inning home run produced their only runs, only hard-hit ball, and one of just two hits in total off Astros’ starter Ronel Blanco. Then his eighth inning long ball gave Texas their only insurance. Smith has been one of the surprise performers of the first half with 10 homers, five stolen bases, and an .861 OPS.
