• Kyle Muller lands on IL with shoulder injury
Athletics placed LHP Kyle Muller on the 15-day IL with left shoulder tendinitis.

Advice: Muller has been solid in his first season as a reliever, pitching to a 3.48 ERA and 1.19 WHIP but also does have just 24 strikeouts in 33 2/3 innings. There’s no indication yet of how long Muller will be out. The team recalled LHP Hogan Harris from Triple-A Las Vegas in a corresponding move. Rotoworld Thursday, 7:14 am

  • Shut down with shoulder injury
The Athletics placed Muller on the 15-day injured list Thursday with left shoulder tendinitis.

Advice: Muller looked to be a potential candidate to fill the opening in the Oakland rotation Thursday in Tampa Bay, but his shoulder injury will end up thwarting those plans. The Athletics called up lefty Hogan Harris from Triple-A Las Vegas in a corresponding move, and he could factor into the team's pitching plans for Thursday's series finale. • Outrighted to Triple-A
Curtiss cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Albuquerque by the Rockies on Wednesday.

Advice: Curtiss had been designated for assignment after allowing two runs and recording just one out in his lone appearance with the Rockies. While he's no longer on the 40-man roster, it appears he will remain in the organization at Albuquerque as relief depth. Rotowire.com Thursday, 6:41 am

  • Cleared to start Friday
Urena (lower leg) said that he's been cleared to start Friday against the Marlins, Jeff Wilson of RangersToday.com reports.

Advice: Urena departed his most recent start last Friday versus the Twins after being struck in the left foot/ankle area by a comebacker. He checked out fine, though, and isn't expected to have any limitations Friday against one of his former clubs. Urena has been surprisingly solid since sliding into the Texas rotation, holding a 2.78 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 14:5 K:BB over 22.2 innings covering four starts. That said, with Nathan Eovaldi returning from the injured list Tuesday and with Jon Gray (groin) potentially set to be activated next week, Urena wouldn't appear to be guaranteed any starts beyond Friday. • Giovanny Gallegos about to begin rehab assignment
Giovanny Gallegos, who is on the IL with a shoulder impingement, is expected to begin a rehab assignment later this week.

Advice: Probably in part because of his early struggles, the Cardinals have gone a little more slowly with Gallegos than they might have a couple of years ago. It could be a quick rehab assignment if he looks strong right away, but given that he had a 12.00 ERA in 13 appearances before going down, a lengthier minor league stint might be deemed necessary. • Picks up save No. 3
Stanek earned the save in Tuesday's 4-2 win over the Astros after pitching a perfect ninth and striking out two.

Advice: Stanek got the call for the save opportunity with Andres Munoz unavailable having worked the previous two days. The former Astro would go on to strike out Alex Bregman and Jake Meyers before getting Jon Singleton to fly out to end the game. It was Stanek's third save of the year and his first since April 12 and he's now struck out six batters over his last three innings. For the year, the 32-year-old owns a 4.26 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 21:6 K:BB in 19 innings. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 4:47 am

  • Ryan Stanek notches third save for Mariners
Ryne Stanek picked up his third save with a perfect ninth Tuesday against the Astros.

Advice: Andrés Muñoz worked the previous two days, so he had this one off. Stanek has a 4.26 ERA and a 21/6 K/BB in 19 innings as the primary fallback in the Seattle pen. Rotoworld Tuesday, 11:01 pm

  • Rehab assignment on tap
Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol said Tuesday that a decision on where Gallegos (shoulder) will begin a rehab assignment will be made Wednesday, John Denton of MLB.com reports.

Advice: The right-hander threw a live bullpen session over the weekend and had another bullpen session Tuesday, clearing him to begin a minor-league rehab assignment. Gallegos landed on the shelf with a pinched nerve in his shoulder in early May, and he should be able to rejoin the Cardinals after a short stay in the minor leagues. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 1:56 pm
  • Shelby Miller (elbow) starts rehab assignment
Shelby Miller (elbow) will make a minor league rehab appearance on Tuesday for Triple-A Toledo.

Advice: Miller has been on the shelf since mid-May recovering from a hydro dissection procedure to alleviate nerve inflammation in his right elbow. The 33-year-old veteran righty should be ready to return to Detroit at some point in early June after a couple minor league rehab tune-up appearances. Rotoworld Tuesday, 1:21 pm
