    • Makes history with walk-off homer
Merrill went 2-for-4 with two solo home runs in Wednesday's 5-4 win over the A's.

Advice: The rookie center fielder took Hogan Harris deep in the fifth inning, setting the stage for Merrill to play hero by ripping a slider from Mason Miller down the right-field line in the bottom of the ninth for his first career walk-off homer. In the process, Merrill become the youngest player in Padres history with a walk-off blast, and the youngest player in MLB history with a two-homer game that included a walk-off shot. The 21-year-old snapped a 26-game homer drought with the performance, but he's been heating up in June, batting .355 (11-for-31) over the last eight contests with four doubles, two steals, four RBI and five runs. • Collects another win
Suarez (4-0) picked up the win in Wednesday's 5-4 victory over the A's, giving up a hit in a scoreless ninth inning and striking out one.

Advice: For the second straight game, Suarez benefited from a Padres walk-off homer, with Wednesday's coming off the bat of Jackson Merrill. The right-hander has been tagged for a run in only one of his 26 appearances since the beginning of April, and on the season Suarez sports a sparkling 0.61 ERA, 0.68 WHIP and 28:6 K:BB through 29.1 innings. • Lifts homer in loss
Walker went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 8-3 loss to the Angels.

Advice: Walker has gone 10-for-45 (.222) with two homers and eight RBI over 11 contests in June. The first baseman is up to 13 long balls, 42 RBI, 40 runs scored, 12 doubles, two stolen bases and a .255/.340/.458 slash line through 68 games this season. Walker's power is a bit down from the last two years, but that's at least partially due to bad luck -- entering Wednesday, he had a 50.0 percent hard-hit rate and a 15.1 percent barrel rate this season, up from 40.4 percent and 11.4 percent, respectively, in 2023. • Secures eighth victory
Gray (8-4) earned the win over Pittsburgh on Wednesday, allowing one run on four hits and one walk while striking out nine batters over seven innings.

Advice: After allowing the first two batters he faced in the outing to reach base, Gray retired the next 12 hitters to step up against him. The Pirates managed a fifth-inning run on a pair of hits, but that was the only tally they were able to push across the plate. Gray finished with his first quality start since May 3 -- a span of seven appearances -- and snapped a personal two-game losing streak. The right-hander allowed seven runs across 9.2 innings during that two-game stretch, but with Wednesday's excellent outing he improved his overall season ERA to 3.01. • Christian Walker goes yard in loss to Angels
Christian Walker went 2-for-4 with a solo home run against the Angels on Wednesday.

Advice: The Diamondbacks were held without a run through seven innings before Walker led off the eighth with a solo blast off Jose Soriano. Walker is up to 13 homers while slashing .255/.340/.458 with 40 runs scored and 42 RBI across 291 plate appearances. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:33 pm

    • Sonny Gray fans nine in defeating Pirates
Sonny Gray pitched seven innings of one-run ball and struck out nine Wednesday against the Pirates.

Advice: Coming off a down stretch that saw him post a 5.46 ERA in his previous six starts, Gray tonight turned in his first quality start since May 3. He’s now 8-4 with a 3.01 ERA overall. He’s somehow received decisions in all of his starts to date, and he’s the only pitcher qualified for the ERA title who can say that. So far this year, starters have qualified for a decision in 62% of their starts, getting the win 29% of the time and the loss 33% of the time. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:21 pm

    • Earns 10th save
Jansen earned a save against the Phillies on Wednesday, allowing one run on one hit and a walk with one strikeout.

Advice: Tasked with protecting a three-run lead in the ninth inning, Jansen allowed Bryce Harper to score after a leadoff double but was able to lock up his first save since May 26. While it was a long stretch between save chances, Jansen is now 10-for-11 on the season and has not blown a save since April 16. He currently owns a 2.91 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 30:11 K:BB in 21.2 innings. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:56 pm
    • Three hits in win
Duran went 3-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored in Wednesday's 8-6 win over the Phillies.

Advice: Duran singled in the third inning, hit an RBI single and scored in the fifth then doubled in the sixth. Duran has been stellar through 10 games in June, hitting .357 with six extra-base hits, five RBI and four steals. He is doing a bit everything in 2024, hitting .269 with five home runs, 28 RBI, 44 runs scored and 15 steals while hitting leadoff for the Red Sox. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:55 pm

    • Kenley Jansen notches first save of June
Kenley Jansen recorded his 10th save after allowing one run in the ninth Wednesday against the Phillies.

Advice: A softly hit double, a balk and a sac fly produced the run. Fortunately, Jansen entered with a three-run cushion, and he recorded his first save since May 26. It’s not at all his fault; the Red Sox just aren’t generating many save chances these days. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:37 pm
