    • Nolan Gorman gets day off Saturday amidst slump
Nolan Gorman is not in the lineup for Saturday’s game against the Brewers.

Advice: It doesn’t come as much of a surprise to see Gorman getting a break with lefty DL Hall on the mound for Milwaukee on Saturday afternoon following one of the worst performances of his career during Friday’s series opener when he went 0-for-5 with four strikeouts. It’ll be Brendan Donovan handling the keystone in his absence. Rotoworld 21 minutes ago

    • Nabs league-leading eighth save
Holmes gave up two hits in a scoreless ninth inning Friday to record his eighth save of the season in a 5-3 win over the Rays.

Advice: The veteran right-hander continued his fast start to the campaign. Holmes does have one blown save on his ledger due to some unearned runs, but through 10 innings he sports a 0.00 ERA to go along with his MLB-leading saves total. His 6:1 K:BB and 1.20 WHIP suggest that pristine ERA won't last much longer, however. With the 14-6 Yankees tied for the best record in the majors, save chances should remain plentiful for the team's undisputed closer. Rotowire.com Today, 7:42 am
    • Hits grand slam in defeat
Rutschman went 3-for-5 with a grand slam during Friday's loss to the Royals.

Advice: While the rest of Baltimore's lineup was unable to find consistent success against the Royals, Rutschman accounted for three of the team's eight hits, and his seventh-inning slam was the only way the Orioles were able to put runs on the board. The 26-year-old backstop is now 7-for-21 across his last five games and remains one of the more reliable offensive catchers in baseball. Rotowire.com Today, 6:17 am
    • Shohei Ohtani steals base, drives in run in loss
Shohei Ohtani went 1-for-4 with an RBI and stolen base Friday against the Mets.

Advice: That swipe is already the fifth of the season for Ohtani. The RBI came in the fifth inning on a run-scoring single. The two-time MVP has been just dandy with the bat in his first season with the Dodgers with a slash of .356/.400/.622 across 90 at-bats through the first 22 games of 2024. • Collects four hits
Carpenter went 4-for-5 with a double, two RBI and a run scored in Friday's win over the Twins.

Advice: Carpenter doubled and scored in the first inning before knocking three singles throughout the rest of the night. He's now 9-for-21 (.429) with five extra-base hits over his last five contests. This hot stretch has boosted his season slash line to .328/.371/.621 through 62 plate appearances. • Struggles in Philly
Crochet (1-3) took the loss Friday against the Phillies, allowing seven runs on five hits and two walks across three innings. He struck out three.

Advice: Crochet was done in by the home-run ball Friday -- he allowed a pair of three-run homers to Alec Bohm before Whit Merrifield led off the fourth with a solo shot, forcing Crochet out of the game. After an excellent start this year, the 24-year-old lefthander has now allowed 12 runs over 7.2 innings in his last two outings. Crochet's ERA is up to 5.61 despite an excellent 1.01 WHIP and 34:6 K:BB across five starts (25.2 innings). He'll look to bounce back in his next outing, currently scheduled for next week in Minnesota. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:45 pm
    • Stellar vs. White Sox
Turnbull (2-0) earned the win Friday against the White Sox, allowing one hit and two walks over seven scoreless innings. He struck out six.

Advice: Turnbull held Chicago without a hit through six innings, eventually allowing a lone one-out single to Gavin Sheets in the seventh en route to a 7-0 Phillies victory. Turnbull has been a revelation in Philadelphia so far this season, holding opponents scoreless in three of his first four starts. The 31-year-old right-hander lowered his ERA to 1.23 with a 0.77 WHIP and 22:7 K:BB across 22 innings. Turnbull is currently on track for a road matchup with the Reds in his next outing. • Adley Rutschman swats grand slam in loss to Royals
Adley Rutschman went 3-for-5 with a grand slam in a 9-4 loss by the Orioles to the Royals on Friday.

Advice: With the Orioles trailing 6-0, Rutschman got the Orioles back into the game with a bases-loaded blast off Will Smith in the seventh inning. The 26-year-old has now homered twice in 2024, and he’s up to 11 RBI over the first 18 games. Rutschman may never be an elite power option, but this is obviously not a dink-and-dunk hitter, either. • Clay Holmes escapes with save on Friday night
Clay Holmes walked the tightrope in the ninth inning on Friday night, but managed to slam the door on the Rays to protect a two-run lead and earn his eighth save of the season.

Advice: Holmes started his frame by allowing back-to-back singles to Ben Rortvedt and Yandy Diaz to bring the go-ahead run to the plate. He then got Randy Arozarena to hit into a strange fielder’s choice where the umpire had ruled that Aaron Judge caught his pop fly in the outfield, which led Rortvedt to head back to second base — and he was ultimately thrown out at third as the ball dropped in. Holmes then got Richie Palacios to line into a game-ending double play to escape with the lead intact. He has been terrific so far this season, compiling a 1.29 WHIP and 6/1 K/BB ratio over 9 1/3 innings of shutout baseball to go along with a win and eight saves. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:56 pm
