      Chisholm went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and a stolen base in Thursday's loss to the Mets.

      Advice: Chisholm gave the Marlins a 2-0 lead with his seventh inning solo shot, but the Mets ultimately rallied for the victory on a J.D. Martinez walk-off blast. The long ball was Chisholm's 10th of the season, and he notched his 13th stolen base in the contest as well.       Fairbanks earned a save against the Cubs on Thursday, allowing one walk in a scoreless ninth inning.

      Advice: Entering with a 3-2 lead in the ninth inning, Fairbanks walked Michael Busch with one out but induced a game-ending double play to secure the save. Since returning from injury on May 11, Fairbanks is six-for-six in save chances and has not allowed an earned run in 14 innings of work.     • Chisholm homers, steals base in loss Thursday
      Jazz Chisholm Jr. went 2-for-4 with a home run and a stolen base against the Mets on Thursday.

      Advice: The home run was his 10th and the stolen base was his 13th. He hit a solo shot off Mets reliever Drew Smith in the seventh inning, which gave the Marlins a 2-0 lead. Chisholm is now hitting .254 on the season with 33 RBI. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:55 pm

      Steele did not factor into the decision in Thursday's 3-2 loss to Tampa Bay, allowing three hits and one walk while striking out five over six scoreless innings.

      Advice: Steele cruised through five innings then ran into some trouble in the sixth, but he escaped a bases-loaded jam and departed with a 2-0 lead at 93 total pitches. Steele earned his third quality start in his past four outings, but he is still winless on the season after the bullpen allowed three runs. Despite the tough luck, Steele's 3.22 ERA and 1.09 WHIP through nine starts are actually lower than his ratios last season, when he finished fifth in NL Cy Young voting.       Pete Fairbanks tossed a scoreless ninth inning and picked up the save against the Cubs on Thursday.

      Advice: The save was Fairbanks’ ninth of the season. He walked Michael Busch with one out before getting Nico Hoerner to ground into a double play to end the game. Fairbanks has now converted on six consecutive save opportunities. The last time he blew a save chance was April 17th. His ERA is now 3.00 on the season. Fairbanks already has four saves in June.     • Steele tosses six scoreless in no-decision
      Justin Steele threw six shutout innings and got a no-decision against the Cubs on Thursday.



      Advice: Steele gave up three hits, walked one and struck out five. He was in line for his first win of the season before the bullpen blew the lead. Steele lowered his ERA to 3.22 with the effort. After missing all of April due to injury, he’s now completed at least five innings and had at least five strikeouts in six consecutive starts. Steele finished fifth in the National League Cy Young award voting last year and appears to have regained that form this year. The 28-year-old left-hander is set to face the Giants at home next week.

    • Nearly ready to take swings
      Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol said Thursday that Nootbaar (oblique) continues to take part in "rotational work" and could resume swinging a bat this weekend, John Denton of MLB.com reports.

      Advice: The Cardinals will presumably ease Nootbaar into swinging by having him hit off a tee or hit soft-toss throws before he eventually gains clearance to hit against higher-velocity pitching. In addition to being able to hit without discomfort, Nootbaar, who has been on the injured list since May 31 with a left oblique strain, will also need to prove that the injury doesn't compromise him when he runs the bases or plays the outfield. He still appears to be at least a couple weeks away from being a realistic option to rejoin the Cardinals, and Nootbaar will presumably need to go out on a minor-league rehab assignment prior to being activated.       Neto went 3-for-5 with a solo home run, a double, one additional RBI and two total runs scored in Wednesday's 8-3 win over the Diamondbacks.

      Advice: Neto hit a solo shot in the second inning and an RBI double in the sixth for his second multi-hit effort in June. The shortstop has gone 8-for-35 (.229) this month, though five of those hits have gone for extra bases, and he's added eight RBI over 10 contests.       Miller allowed two hits and two walks while striking out eight over seven scoreless innings in a no-decision versus the White Sox on Wednesday.

      Advice: Miller rebounded from his worst start of the year by producing his third scoreless outing in 2024. Two of those scoreless efforts have come over his three starts in June. The 25-year-old has a 3.48 ERA, 0.98 WHIP and 80:24 K:BB over 82.2 innings through 14 starts this season as he continues to impress as part of the Mariners' strong rotation.
