    • Pitches through illness
Hicks (4-1) allowed a run on three hits and a walk while striking out one over five innings to earn the win Sunday over the Rockies.

Advice: Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports Hicks threw up his pregame meal. The right-hander also experienced diminished velocity -- all of his pitches were down between 2.4 and 3.6 mph from his season averages in Sunday's start, so it's obvious he wasn't at full strength. He still landed 49 of 72 pitches for strikes and gave up just a first-inning home run to Ryan McMahon, while the Giants' bullpen picked him up with four hitless innings. Hicks has gone past five innings in just three of his 10 starts this year, but he's done well with a 2.38 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 40:17 K:BB over 53 innings. It's not odd that the Giants may be managing his innings carefully since he's never exceeded 77.2 innings in a major-league campaign. There's no reason to worry about Hicks missing his next projected start -- on the road versus the Mets -- at this time. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:01 pm
    • Swats fourth homer
Suwinski went 1-for-3 with a solo home run, two walks and a stolen base in Sunday's 3-2 win over the Cubs.

Advice: Suwinski had gone just 1-for-13 over his last five games, striking out eight times in that span. The outfielder is up to four homers, five steals, 13 RBI, 15 runs scored and a .172/.263/.299 slash line over 152 plate appearances. Suwinski remains firmly in a strong-side platoon role, and that's unlikely to change if he can't find more of a rhythm at the plate. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:24 pm
    • Drills 11th home run
Rooker went 2-for-5 with a three-run homer and two runs scored in Sunday's loss to Kansas City.

Advice: Rooker belted a three-run shot in the ninth inning, but it wasn't enough for the Athletics to mount a late comeback. It was his first homer since May 12, though six of his 11 long balls this year have come in May. Rooker is following up his 30-homer breakout season nicely, posting a .281/.358/.578 slash line with 18 extra-base hits and 32 RBI through 151 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:51 pm
    • Paul Sewald closes out Tigers on Sunday afternoon
Paul Sewald slammed the door on the Tigers on Sunday afternoon, working a scoreless ninth inning to preserve a two-run advantage.

Advice: The 33-year-old hurler picked up his third save of the season for his efforts. He made it look awfully easy in this one, needing just 10 pitches (nine strikes) to get Wenceel Perez on a fly ball, Spencer Torkelson on strikes and Javier Baez on a pop out to second base to end it. On the season, Sewald now holds a 1.80 ERA, 0.60 WHIP and a 5/1 K/BB ratio across his first five innings of work. Rotoworld Yesterday, 4:18 pm
    • Jordan Hicks’ velocity is way down in win
Jordan Hicks allowed one run on three hits in five innings in a win over the Rockies on Sunday.

Advice: The big news here is that Hicks averaged just 91.7 mph on his sinker after averaging 95.3 mph on the year. In fact, he was down 2.5 mph or more on every single one of his pitches in this start, which is part of the reason why he struck out just one batter. Of course, because he was facing the Rockies, he wasn’t saddled with that much damage. It will be interesting to hear what the Giants have to say about the performance or if it was just an off night for the oft-injured right-hander. Provided he’s healthy, he would have another good start lined up against the Mets next week. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:46 pm
    • Joining team in New York
Crawford (oblique) is set to join the Mariners ahead of their three-game series with the Yankees beginning Monday, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Crawford appears to be ready to rejoin the major-league roster after being placed on the 10-day injured list with a Grade 1 right oblique strain April 25. The shortstop went 1-for-5 with a run scored during his short two-game rehab assignment, which was cut short after he was hit in the hand by a pitch Wednesday. Crawford has struggled to a .198/.296/.302 slash line with two homers, nine RBI and 13 runs scored over 86 at-bats in 22 games with Seattle this season. His return will likely push Dylan Moore out of the starting lineup. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 2:55 pm
    • Brent Rooker hits three-run homer in loss
Brent Rooker went 2-for-5 with a three-run home run on Sunday in a loss to the Royals.

Advice: Rooker’s homer was his 11th of the season and he scalded this one at 111.7 MPH off the bat. There’s still a lot of swing and miss in his game, but a barrel rate right around 15% and hitting third in the surging A’s lineup has turned him into one of the best run producers in the league early this season. • Alec Bohm knocks in five to take over MLB lead
Alec Bohm had a three-run homer and two sac flies to lead the Phillies to an 11-5 win over the Nationals on Sunday.

Advice: Bohm has had four six-RBI games in his career, including one last month, but this is the first time he’s finished with exactly five. He’s now the major league leader with 42 RBI, giving him one more than Marcell Ozuna and José Ramírez. With a .330/.389/.528 line in 47 games, he’s on track to make his All-Star debut this summer. • Jack Suwinski goes deep in victory over Cubs
Jack Suwinski swatted his fourth home run of the season on Sunday, helping to power the Pirates past the Cubs.

Advice: Suwinski clobbered his 367-foot (99.8 mph EV) solo shot off of Jameson Taillon in the second inning, giving the Pirates an early 1-0 lead. He also drew a pair of walks and swiped a base in the contest, finishing the afternoon 1-for-2 officially. It’s been a very rough go for Suwinski at the plate this season, slashing a miserable .173/.265/.301 with four homers, 13 RBI and five stolen bases. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:07 pm
