    • Nearing return
Jones (back) is expected to be recalled from his rehab assignment following Sunday's game with Triple-A Albuquerque, MLB.com reports.

Advice: Jones has appeared in three games with Albuquerque, starting twice in left field and once at designated hitter. He's lined up for a fourth appearance Sunday and will rejoin the big-league club as it travels to Oakland. Assuming all goes according to plan, it appears that Jones will be activated for the first game of the series on Tuesday. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:43 pm

    • Belts big three-run blast
Contreras went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run Saturday in a 4-2 victory versus Houston.

Advice: Contreras provided the biggest hit of the game with a three-run, fourth-inning homer that broke a 1-1 tie and sent Justin Verlander to the showers. The long ball was the backstop's second in his past three games and extended his current on-base streak to 25 contests. During that stretch, Contreras is batting .347 with three homers, 17 RBI, 22 runs, two stolen bases and a 14:16 BB:K. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:46 pm
    • Crumbles in fifth frame Saturday
Verlander (2-2) took the loss against Milwaukee on Saturday, allowing four runs on four hits and two walks while striking out three batters over 4.2 innings.

Advice: Verlander made it through four innings without giving up a run, but things fell apart for him in the fifth. In that frame, he put the first three batters on base via a single and two walks before allowing his first run on a sacrifice fly. Verlander got another out to nearly escape the jam without further damage, but William Contreras sent him to the showers with a three-run blast to center field. Verlander was coming off his best start of the season with seven scoreless innings against Detroit his last time out, though that was preceded by a seven-run, five-inning blowup against the Yankees his previous trip to the mound. He'll try to get back on the right track in his next appearance, which is tentatively lined up to take place in Oakland. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:41 pm
    • Walks it off with sac fly
Harper went 1-for-4 with a run, an RBI and a stolen base in Saturday's 4-3 extra-inning win against Washington.

Advice: Harper singled, stole a base and came home on a double-play groundout in the fourth inning for Philadelphia's first run. He was retired his next two times at the plate before driving home the winning run with a walk-off sacrifice fly in the bottom of the 10th frame. Harper is batting .321 with four homers, 15 RBI, 14 runs and two stolen bases through 15 contests in May. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:15 pm

    • William Contreras hits three-run blast vs. Astros
William Contreras connected on a three-run homer to help the Brewers to a 4-2 win over the Astros on Saturday.

Advice: Contreras absolutely shellacked a Justin Verlander offering to center — travelling an estimated 428 feet — to give the Brew Crew a 4-1 lead. The 26-year-old backstop has been sensational in 2024 with seven homers, 37 RBI and an OPS of .990. That’s a star level of offense even before you consider that he’s doing it as a catcher. • Justin Verlander allows four in loss to Brewers
Justin Verlander gave up four runs in 4 2/3 innings while receiving a loss to the Brewers on Saturday.

Advice: Verlander has essentially alternated strong starts with poor ones since coming off the injured list, and this one goes on the ineffective side. The right-hander allowed four hits and two walks, and the big blow was a three-run homer allowed to William Contreras. He’ll be back on the mound Friday against the Athletics. • San Diego-Atlanta game postponed
Darvish and the Padres will not play Saturday after their game in Atlanta was postponed due to inclement weather.

Advice: The game will be made up as part of a doubleheader Monday. Darvish will be pushed back a day to start Sunday, which would also mean delaying Joe Musgrove's (elbow) return from the injured list to Monday. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 6:03 pm

    • Return delayed multiple weeks
Jung (wrist) still appears to be at least six weeks from returning to the lineup, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Advice: Jung has yet to pick up a bat after undergoing surgery on his right wrist April 2 and is expected to be reevaluated in another 10-to-14 days before being cleared to start taking swings. The initial timeline for his return was 6-to-8 weeks, which was later adjusted to 10-to-12 weeks, and he now appears to be tracking toward the latter end of that estimation, if not later. The repair of his fractured wrist proved to be trickier than initially anticipated, and Texas will likely be cautious in its approach with the budding star at third base, so fantasy managers shouldn't expect him back until late June or early July. • Report: Josh Jung (wrist) six weeks from returning
Josh Jung (wrist) is at least six weeks away from returning, reports Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News.

Advice: Ugh. Original post-surgery estimates put Jung’s potential return sometime around 10-12 weeks from the early-April procedure, but he’s progressing slower than originally anticipated. The 26-year-old slugger resumed throwing, fielding ground balls and running earlier this week, but has yet to resume swinging a bat. The -year-old third baseman is seven weeks removed from surgery, and while he hasn’t suffered any setbacks, isn’t likely to return until at least late June or early July.
