  • Tyler Glasnow hit hard in three innings vs. Giants
    Tyler Glasnow was hit hard in no-decision against the Giants on Saturday night, surrendering five runs on seven hits in just three innings of work.

    Advice: The 30-year-old right-hander also issued a pair of walks in the contest while recording only one strikeout. The Giants scratched out a run against him on a sacrifice fly in the first inning. Then they piled on for five more in the third inning that included run-scoring knocks from Jorge Soler, Andrew Bailey and Matt Chapman. Glasnow generated seven swings and misses on only 61 pitches on the night, posting an underwhelming CSW of 21 percent.   • Grabs first career win
    Povich (1-2) allowed two runs on five hits and struck out three without walking a batter over five innings to earn the win Saturday over the Rangers.

    Advice: He gave up a couple of solo home runs, but Povich ended up earning his first career win after Heston Kjerstad put the Orioles ahead with a grand slam in the fifth inning. After allowing six runs in his debut, Povich has given up a total of six runs across his last four outings. He's at a decent 4.05 ERA with a 1.24 WHIP and 17:10 K:BB through 26.2 innings over five starts. The Orioles had discussed going to a six-man rotation before a rough stretch of pitching injuries in June, so it's unclear if Povich will stick around in the majors once Dean Kremer (triceps) returns from the injured list, which could happen next week.   • Michael Lorenzen gives up grand slam in loss to O’s
    Michael Lorenzen went five innings while allowing five runs in a loss to the Orioles on Saturday.

    Advice: Lorenzen gave up two homers in the loss, and one of those was a grand slam to Heston Kjerstad. The other was a solo shot, as you could probably guess if you are decent at math. The right-hander clearly didn’t have his best command, as he gave up the two roundtrippers and also issued four walks against three strikeouts.   • Cade Povich allows just two solo homers in win
    Cade Povich held the Rangers to two runs while working five innings in a victory Saturday.

    Advice: Both runs allowed by Povich came on solo homers. He gave up a shot to Corey Seager in the first before Seager left with a wrist injury, and another to Derek Hill in the fifth. Outside of that it was a strong outing for the 24-year-old rookie that saw him strike out three and not issue a walk. As long as Povich throws strikes, he’s got the stuff to succeed at the highest level. He has a friendly match-up scheduled for Friday against Oakland. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:15 pm
     
  • Mets option Tylor Megill to Triple-A Syracuse
    Mets optioned RHP Tylor Megill to Triple-A Syracuse.

    Advice: The 28-year-old hurler struggled in a no-decision against the Astros on Saturday, giving up four runs over 5 1/3 innings of work. On the season, he holds a disappointing 5.08 ERA, 1.44 WHIP and a 49/19 K/BB ratio across 39 innings over his eight starts. The Mets will utilize the roster spot to add a fresh arm to their bullpen and will then likely utilize either Christian Scott or Jose Butto to fill the void in their rotation next week against the Nationals.   • Sent to Triple-A
    The Mets optioned Megill to Triple-A Syracuse on Saturday, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

    Advice: Megill started Saturday's 9-6 loss to Houston, allowing four runs on five hits and three walks with six strikeouts across 5.1 innings. He didn't factor into the decision. As the Mets maneuver around Edwin Diaz's 10-game suspension, they're expected to call up a reliever to fill Megill's spot and eat innings in the coming days before having Christian Scott or Jose Butto brought up to start in Megill's regular rotation slot.     Valdez allowed six runs on 10 hits and three walks while striking out five over 4.2 innings in a no-decision versus the Mets on Saturday.

    Advice: Valdez struggled in the second and third innings, but the Astros were able to rally back to help him avoid a loss. Over six outings in June, he allowed 16 runs across 37.2 innings, though 11 of those runs came in two starts. The southpaw is still struggling compared to his usual level of performance with a 4.11 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 68:29 K:BB over 85.1 innings through 14 starts this year.     Gallen (6-4) allowed a hit and a walk while striking out seven over six shutout innings to earn the win over the Athletics on Saturday.

    Advice: Gallen returned from a hamstring injury that cost him nearly a month and took full advantage of a soft matchup. This was the fourth time this season he's gone six innings in a start without allowing a run. He's also posted five quality starts in his last six outings, the lone exception being the May 30 start that ended with the aforementioned hamstring injury before he could record an out. The right-hander is now at a 2.83 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 67:16 K:BB through 63.2 innings over 12 starts. Gallen threw 77 pitches (50 strikes) Saturday, so he should be good for a full workload his next time out, which is tentatively projected for a road outing at San Diego.     Harris (1-2) allowed three runs on 10 hits and a walk while striking out three over 3.1 innings to take the loss Saturday versus the Diamondbacks.

    Advice: Just two of the 10 hits against Harris went for extra-bases, but he put too much traffic on the bases in each of the first four innings. The Athletics offered next to nothing in terms of offense, tallying two hits and a walk in the 3-0 loss. Harris had gone at least five innings in each of his previous five outings since he was recalled to the majors May 30. He's now at a 3.18 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 31:14 K:BB through 39.2 innings over eight appearances (six starts) this season.
