  • Mitchell Parker can’t keep the ball in the yard
    Mitchell Parker allowed five earned runs across six innings on Wednesday against the Mets. He struck out five without walking a batter in this no-decision.

    Advice: The shortest home run the Mets hit off Parker was 413 feet by Tyrone Taylor and all five of their hits went for extra-bases. They clearly had a plan to attack Parker and there wasn’t much he could do about it. One fun adjustment, Parker was throwing his splitter two ticks harder and it maxed out at 89.4 MPH.   • Christian Scott falls just short of quality start
    Christian Scott allowed four earned runs in 5 2/3 innings on Wednesday against the Nationals in his return to the big leagues. He struck out two and walked two in a no-decision.

    Advice: Scott’s night was ruined by a three-run home run from Luis García Jr. off a hanging sweeper with two outs in the sixth inning. Otherwise, this was a positive return to the show from the young right-hander. The Nationals stuffed their lineup with seven lefties to combat Scott’s fastball-sweeper combo and he responded by throwing a season-high 18% splitters to combat them. It was nice to see that adjustment, improved fastball command, and the Mets’ willingness to let him get up to 99 pitches.   • Tigers recall Keider Montero to start on Wednesday
    Tigers recalled RHP Keider Montero from Triple-A Toledo.

    Advice: The 23-year-old right-hander will take the place of the injured Casey Mize (hamstring) in the team’s rotation. He’ll start on Wednesday night against the Twins. Montero has already made two appearances with the Tigers this season, registering a 9.35 ERA, 1.62 WHIP and an 11/4 K/BB ratio over 8 2/3 innings.   • Recalled ahead of start Wednesday
    The Diamondbacks recalled Mena from Triple-A Reno on Wednesday.

    Advice: Mena was in the Diamondbacks' clubhouse Tuesday, and manager Torey Lovullo noted that the right-hander, if officially called up, would deserve the opportunity to start Wednesday, per PHNX Diamondbacks. Mena was part of the package acquired by the Diamondbacks from the White Sox in the Dominic Fletcher trade in February. Mena has spent the entire year in Reno, and over his 16 minor-league starts, the 21-year-old is 3-2 with a 4.90 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 89:38 K:BB over 82.2 innings.     Advice: The 21-year-old right-hander will be thrown right into the fire, making his big-league debut on Wednesday night against the Dodgers. Mena registered a 4.90 ERA, 1.49 WHIP and an 89/38 K/BB ratio over 82 2/3 innings in 16 starts at Triple-A Reno. He’s certainly not a recommended streaming option for fantasy purposes.   • RHP Dean Kremer activated from 10-day IL
    Orioles activated RHP Dean Kremer from 10-day injured list.

    Advice: Kremer is set to start Wednesday’s game against the Mariners opposite Logan Gilbert. Kremer is returning from a triceps injury. He is 3-4 with a 4.32 ERA on the season. Kremer could be a streaming option in deeper formats. Rotoworld Yesterday, 11:43 am
     
  • Activated ahead of start
    The Orioles activated Kremer (triceps) from the 15-day injured list Wednesday.

    Advice: Kremer will rejoin the Orioles' rotation with a start Wednesday against the Mariners. He missed six weeks of action with a right triceps strain and did not pitch well on a rehab assignment, posting an 11.42 ERA and 9:4 K:BB over 8.2 innings.     The Tigers recalled Montero from Triple-A Toledo on Wednesday, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports.

    Advice: Montero will draw the start Wednesday in Minnesota. While he's technically filling in for Jack Flaherty (back) on Wednesday, Montero will receive multiple turns as a replacement for Casey Mize (hamstring), per manager A.J. Hinch.
