    • Montgomery set to throw off flat ground Saturday
Jordan Montgomery (knee) is scheduled to throw off of flat ground on Saturday.

Advice: Diamondbacks’ manager Torey Lovullo told reporters on Friday that Montgomery is still dealing with some inflammation in his knee, but the expectation is that he’ll be good enough to resume throwing on Saturday. Depending on how Saturday’s session goes, the club may be able to give a timeline for when the 31-year-old southpaw may be able to return. Rotoworld 31 minutes ago
    • Set to return Tuesday
Schwarber (groin) is expected to be activated off the injured list ahead of Tuesday's series opener against the Dodgers, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Schwarber has been working through drills at 90 percent intensity, per Corey Seidman of NBC Sports Philadelphia, and the 31-year-old slugger will run the bases Saturday in what is the last step in his rehab program before rejoining the team. Schwarber is slashing .250/.373/447 with 17 home runs, 49 RBI and a .820 OPS over 367 plate appearances this season. Rotowire.com Today, 2:18 pm

    • Gavin Lux goes 0-for-4 against Diamondbacks
Gavin Lux finished 0-for-4 in the loss to the Diamondbacks on Thursday.

Advice: The Dodgers’ patience still hasn’t paid off with Lux, who is hitting just .214/.267/.291 through 251 plate appearances. His Statcast numbers aren’t as bad as the line suggests, but they’re also not as good as they were in the two years before he missed all of last season with a torn ACL. On the plus side, his defense, which seemed poised to be a major problem early on, has actually been above average after the move back to second. It makes sense for the Dodgers to try to do better, but at the same time, the more confident they feel in Miguel Rojas, the less they have the need to make a move, since they could always plug in Mookie Betts at second after he returns in August. • Goes yard in win
Chapman went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and an RBI double in Thursday's 4-2 win over Atlanta.

Advice: Chapman is 14-for-38 (.368) with four homers and 12 RBI over his last 10 contests. The third baseman put the Giants ahead with his fourth-inning solo shot and then added the RBI double for an insurance run in the sixth. Chapman's recent surge has him at a .245/.325/.426 slash line with 12 homers, 42 RBI, 56 runs scored, 23 doubles and seven stolen bases through 85 contests this season. • Chapman belts home run, RBI double in win Thursday
Matt Chapman went 2-for-4 with a double, a home run and two RBI against the Braves on Thursday.

Advice: The home run was his 12th of the season. Chapman took Charlie Morton deep in the fourth inning and then hit an RBI double in the sixth inning. He’s hitting .245 with a .751 OPS and 42 RBI on the season. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:06 pm

    • Picks up seventh win
King (7-5) picked up the win Thursday, allowing one run on four hits and two walks against the Rangers. He struck out five.

Advice: King held the Rangers scoreless through five, then was removed after allowing two batters to reach base with one out in the sixth, eventually resulting in one earned run on his ledger. It's the sixth time in his last eight starts that King has allowed one earned run or fewer and his 10th such outing this season. Over his last eight starts, King has tossed 44 innings with a 2.45 ERA and 53 strikeouts. His next opportunity to toe the rubber is scheduled to come at home against the Mariners next week. • Michael King shuts down Rangers over 5 1/3 in win
Michael King struck out five and allowed one run over 5 1/3 innings on Thursday in a win over the Rangers.

Advice: King generated 13 swinging strikes, although just a pair of them came on his four-seam fastball, as he finished with a robust 34 percent CSW. A sixth-inning single from Wyatt Langford was responsible for the lone tally against him in a low-scoring pitcher’s duel at Globe Life Field. The 29-year-old former reliever will bring a strong 3.51 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 120/41 K/BB ratio across 105 innings (19 appearances, 18 starts) into a home outing on Wednesday against the Mariners in his final outing prior to the Midsummer Classic. • Thomson: Schwaber could return on Tuesday
Phillies manager Rob Thomson said “it’s possible” that Kyle Schwarber (groin) could return on Tuesday when the Phillies begin their series against the Dodgers.

Advice: Schwarber is already running at 90% on the field and has not yet been on the IL for a week, so he likely wouldn’t need any rehab assignment if he progresses quickly. There are a few days to go, but it sounds like we might get a minimum stay for Schwarber on the IL. Rotoworld Yesterday, 12:23 pm

    • Idle Thursday
Rutschman isn't in the Orioles' lineup for Thursday's game against the Mariners.

Advice: Rutschman will get a day to regroup Thursday after being held hitless in 13 at-bats over his last four games. James McCann will instead get the nod to start at catcher while batting ninth. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:12 am
