    • Records first steal of season
Ramirez went 0-for-4 with one RBI and one stolen base in Thursday's 5-4 win over the Red Sox.

Advice: Ramirez reached on a fielder's choice in the fifth inning and picked up his first steal of the campaign on his first attempt. The third baseman isn't the fastest player, but he tends to be opportunistic on the basepaths. He has at least 20 steals in each of the last five full campaigns, including going 28-for-34 on his stolen base attempts in 2023. His four-game hitting streak came to a close Thursday, and he's batting a modest .238 with three home runs, 16 RBI, 14 runs scored, three doubles and a triple of 19 contests. • Underwhelming rehab appearance
Buehler (elbow) allowed two runs on four hits and four walks while striking out three across 2.2 innings in a rehab outing with Triple-A Oklahoma City on Thursday, Eric Stephen of SBNation.com reports.

Advice: Buehler was expected to throw between 80 and 90 pitches, though his struggles with control limited the length of his outing. He particularly struggled with his offspeed and breaking pitches, as he threw 15 combined curveballs and sliders -- only two of which went for strikes. Though the outing wasn't positive, it could come as some consolation that this was Buehler's first time pitching with an automated strike zone, per Oklahoma City Director of Communications Alex Freedman. It's possible that this was Buehler's final rehab outing before rejoining the big-league rotation, but the Dodgers are expected to assess the situation before making a final decision. • Walker Buehler struggles Thursday in rehab start
Walker Buehler (elbow) surrendered two runs over 2 2/3 innings on Thursday for Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Advice: Buehler needed 26 pitches to get through the opening frame and didn’t make it out of the third inning of this one, departing after just 68 pitches. He struck out three and also issued four walks. The big concern here is that he wasn’t able to sufficiently build up his pitch count and might wind up needing another rehab outing before finally returning to Los Angeles’ starting rotation mix. There should be a decision regarding his next step at some point in the coming days. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:06 pm

    • Notches four-out save
Yates earned the save in Thursday's 9-7 win over Detroit, allowing one hit while logging a strikeout in 1.1 scoreless innings.

Advice: Yates entered with two outs in the eighth inning, striking out Spencer Torkelson to strand the tying and go-ahead runs on base before working around a two-out single in the ninth en route to his second save this season. Yates has yet to allow a run through his first eight appearances (8.2 innings) this year. The 37-year-old veteran has saves in two of the Rangers' last four games, as he looks to be firming his grasp on the ninth-inning job in Texas. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 4:05 pm
    • Kirby Yates gets four-out save against Tigers
Kirby Yates got the final four outs to pick up a save Thursday against the Tigers.

Advice: Yates got the final out of the eighth inning, and while he did give up a hit in the ninth, he was able to keep the Tigers off the board while picking up his second save of the season. Jose Leclerc also worked in the game Thursday, and while he did strike out two without giving up a run, he also walked a pair while throwing 10-of-25 pitches for strikes. Long story short, Yates looks solid and Leclerc does not, and that’s why the former is going to get the bulk of the save chances for the foreseeable future. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:21 pm
    • Amed Rosario triples in victory over Angels
Amed Rosario went 2-for-4 with a triple and an RBI against the Angels on Thursday.

Advice: Rosario plated Richie Palacios with his triple in the first inning off Griffin Canning to give Tampa Bay a 1-0 cushion. The three-bagger comes a day after Rosario blasted a two-run homer, and the former top prospect has been swinging the bat well to begin the 2024 campaign as seen in his .339 average and .532 slugging mark. Rosario has been streaky throughout his career, and he appears to be on the right side of that line to begin 2024. Rotoworld Yesterday, 12:37 pm

    • Working on mechanics
Diaz attributes his early-season velocity drop to his mechanics being a little off after he missed the entire 2023 season with a knee injury, Will Sammon and Tim Britton of The Athletic report.

Advice: The right-hander has averaged 96.6 mph with his four-seam fastball through his first seven appearances this season, down from the 99.1 mph he averaged in 2022 and even the 98.1 mph he averaged in April 2022. Diaz indicated Monday that he was pulling a bit to the first-base side with his delivery, something that seems like he should be able to correct fairly quickly. The velocity drop hasn't impacted his performance, as Diaz has converted all four of his save chances with an impressive 1.29 ERA, 0.57 WHIP and 10:2 K:BB through seven innings. • May not return this weekend
Rangers manager Bruce Bochy said Wednesday that Lowe will need "about 30 [at-bats], could be more" during his minor-league rehab assignment before returning from the 10-day injured list, Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Advice: After kicking off his rehab assignment at Double-A Frisco last Friday, Lowe looked as though he could be ready to rejoin the Rangers by the weekend. However, Bochy's comments suggest that the Rangers are planning for Lowe to have a more extended stay in the minors to get his timing back at the plate before reinstalling him as their everyday first baseman. Lowe has since shifted his assignment to Triple-A Round Rock and has gotten in 16 at-bats over five total minor-league games, recording just one hit (a home run) while drawing two walks. If Bochy sticks to his estimate of Lowe needing about 30 at-bats before being activated, the 28-year-old seems poised to remain with Round Rock through the weekend before rejoining the Rangers for the start of their homestand next Tuesday. • Rare day off Thursday
Arozarena is absent from the lineup for Thursday's contest versus the Angels.

Advice: Arozarena will get just his second day off this season while he's stuck in a 2-for-23 rut at the plate that has dropped his slash line to .174/.240/.275 for the season. While Arozarena rests, Harold Ramirez will pick up a start in left field. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 6:57 am
