    • Daulton Varsho triples, scores twice vs. White Sox
      Daulton Varsho went 1-for-3 with a triple, two runs scored, two RBI, and two walks against the White Sox on Wednesday.

      Advice: After drawing a walk in the first inning, Varsho brought two runs in to score on a triple in the second. After walking once again in the fourth, he crossed home plate on a base hit by Bo Bichette.     • Max Fried tosses complete game in win over Cubs
      Max Fried tossed a complete game, allowing two runs -- one earned -- with nine strikeouts in a win over the Cubs on Wednesday.

      Advice: Fried was outstanding on Wednesday against the Cubs. He had a perfect game going through five innings until Ian Happ led off the sixth with a double. A wild pitch put Happ on third before a groundout brought him in to score. Fried returned for a clean seventh inning before giving up one more unearned run on two hits and an error in the eighth. Fried finished out the complete game with a strikeout in the ninth. The 30-year-old left-hander struck out nine batters overall on 18 whiffs. He’ll take a 3.38 ERA, 1.06 WHIP, and a 48/20 K/BB ratio across 58 2/3 innings into a start against the Nationals in Atlanta on Monday. Rotoworld Wednesday, 7:07 pm
       
    • Comes up short in first loss
      Skubal (6-1) took the loss Wednesday as the Tigers were downed 8-3 by the Royals, giving up four runs on six hits and two walks over five innings. He struck out six.

      Advice: In a matchup of elite southpaws, Skubal wasn't able to keep pace with Cole Ragans and failed to complete six innings for only the second time this season in 10 starts, while tying his season high in runs allowed. Skubal also served up a solo shot to Nelson Velazquez in the fourth inning, just the fourth homer off him in 60 innings. Skubal will take a 2.25 ERA, 0.85 WHIP and 72:10 K:BB into his next outing, which lines up to come at home next week against the Pirates. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 6:26 pm
       
    • Jurickson Profar scores twice in victory over Reds
      Jurickson Profar doubled, walked, scored a pair of runs and collected an RBI on Wednesday as the Padres triumphed over the Reds.

      Advice: Profar worked Nick Martinez for a leadoff walk in the fourth inning and scored on a fielder’s choice off the bat of David Peralta. He also chased Martinez from the game with an RBI double in the fifth inning, then came around to score on a run-scoring single off the bat of Jake Cronenworth.     • Freddy Peralta handed tough-luck loss
      Freddy Peralta fired seven one-run innings on Wednesday striking out seven and walking one in a loss to the Marlins.

      Advice: Peralta’s only mistake was a 3-1 fastball to Jazz Chisholm in the first inning that wound up in the seats. Even in that at-bat Peralta missed some borderline pitches to fall behind. Still, he was fantastic Wednesday after scuffling to a 6.19 ERA May. He likely has better times ahead while his strikeout rate stays high and walk rate stays manageable.     • Tarik Skubal allows four runs in loss to Royals
      Tarik Skubal allowed four runs over five innings on Wednesday in a loss to the Royals.

      Advice: Fantasy managers were expecting a throwback pitcher’s duel in this one, but Skubal got in trouble right away on Wednesday afternoon as Kansas City struck for a pair of runs in the second inning before Nelson Velázquez took him deep for a fourth-inning solo shot. He finished with six strikeouts and only handed out a pair of free passes. He’ll bring a stellar 2.25 ERA, 0.85 WHIP and 72/10 K/BB ratio across 60 innings (10 starts) into a favorable home matchup on Tuesday against the Pirates. Rotoworld Wednesday, 2:38 pm
       
    • Jhoan Durán gives up homer before earning save
      Jhoan Durán picked up his fourth save Wednesday despite giving up a homer in the ninth against the Nationals.

      Advice: The homer from Joey Meneses led off the ninth in a two-run game. The next batter singled, at which point Dave Martinez put in speedy Rule 5 pick Nasim Nuñez to run. Martinez, though, just couldn’t help himself and still gave away an out to have Ildemaro Vargas bunt Nuñez over when Nuñez most likely could have stolen the base on his own.     • Holds on for fourth save
      Duran picked up the save in Wednesday's 3-2 win over the Nationals despite allowing a run on two hits in the ninth inning. He struck out one.

      Advice: Called upon to protect a two-run lead in the ninth, Duran got off to a rocky start, surrendering a leadoff homer to Joey Meneses followed by a Luis Garcia single. However, following a sac bunt that moved Garcia into scoring position, Duran struck out Joey Gallo before inducing a game-ending groundout from Keibert Ruiz to close out a 3-2 win. While he was able to escape with the save Wednesday, Duran's been shaky recently, allowing homers in three consecutive outings and five runs over 2.2 innings in that span. He now has four saves with a 4.66 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 10:3 K:BB across 9.2 innings to start the year. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 1:11 pm

      Langeliers went 0-for-2 with two walks and a stolen base in a win over the Rockies on Tuesday.

      Advice: The slugging backstop got it done a bit differently Tuesday, with Langeliers showing some solid plate discipline while recording his second multi-walk effort of the season, both which have come within the last week.
