    • Happy with mechanical tweaks
Gausman tinkered with his mechanics ahead of Friday's start against the Mariners, in which he tied his season high with 10 strikeouts, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports. "I definitely had a bit of a different delivery today, and that was by design," Gausman said after the outing. "It's something we're trying to get back to what I was doing in 2021. I think it will allow me to be around the zone a little bit more."

Advice: The veteran right-hander saw his fastball average 1.4 mph more than it had this season coming into the start, while the movement on his splitter was more effective as a result of the tweaks. "I was getting way too much horizontal movement on my splitter and not enough vertical movement," Gausman said. "I haven't looked at the metrics, but I could tell that it was carrying the zone. To me, that shows the vertical was there on my splitter. Guys are going to swing more at it when it looks like it's going to be in the zone longer." Gausman, who missed much of spring training due to shoulder fatigue, has had an inconsistent beginning to the season and will carry a 4.64 ERRA, 1.34 WHIP and 24.0 percent strikeout rate into his next start -- numbers all well below the standard he established during his career resurgence in San Francisco in 2020-21. • Getting breather Monday
Martinez is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Pirates, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.

Advice: The Mets are concluding their four-game series with the Pirates with a Monday contest that begins at 12:35 p.m. ET, so Martinez looks to be on the bench in what looks to be little more than a veteran's maintenance day. Francisco Alvarez will get a day off behind the dish and will occupy Martinez's usual spot in the lineup at designated hitter. Rotowire.com Today, 7:59 am

    • Crumbles in ninth
Kopech (2-8) allowed four runs on two hits and two walks against Miami on Sunday. He was charged with a blown save and a loss.

Advice: Kopech entered the ninth inning with a 4-3 lead but quickly gave it up on a Josh Bell RBI double. Two batters later, Jake Burger would crush a walk-off three-run homer. Kopech hadn't blown a save chance since June 13 but is now just 8 for 13 in opportunities this season. His ERA jumped to 5.45 with a 51:23 K:BB through 38 innings. John Brebbia could begin to push for more ninth-inning work; he threw a scoreless eighth inning Sunday and has given up just two runs over 16.1 frames since the start of June. • Provides offense in loss
Caballero went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run in Sunday's 13-2 loss to the Rangers.

Advice: Caballero's homer briefly gave the Rays a 2-1 lead in the third inning before the Rangers scored nine runs over the next two frames. The utility infielder isn't known for his power, but he has two homers over his last five games. For the year, he's slashing .241/.301/.369 with six homers, 24 RBI, 38 runs scored and 24 stolen bases across 274 plate appearances. Caballero will likely see most of his playing time against left-handed pitchers, mainly serving as a platoon option in the middle infield. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 4:38 pm

    • Christian Yelich homers, plates three to lead Crew
Christian Yelich went 3-for-4 with a homer, double, three runs scored and three RBI on Sunday afternoon, leading the Brewers to a 9-2 rout of the Dodgers in Los Angeles.

Advice: Yelich opened the scoring in Sunday’s contest with a 418-foot (107.2 mph EV) two-run blast off of rookie left-hander Justin Wrobleski in the fourth inning. He then singled and scored on a two-run knock by Blake Perkins in the eighth inning. Yelich also tacked on an RBI double in the ninth and scored on a double by Garrett Mitchell. He’s having an outstanding season in the middle of the Brewers’ lineup, slashing .329/.407/.533 with 11 homers, 41 RBI and 19 stolen bases. Rotoworld Yesterday, 4:12 pm
    • Blows save, takes loss
Chapman (1-4) blew a save and was tagged with Sunday's loss to the Mets. He allowed two runs on two hits, three walks and two strikeouts in 0.2 innings.

Advice: Chapman entered with a one-run lead in the ninth but loaded the bases and gave up a go-ahead two-run single to Francisco Lindor. Chapman was erratic with his control as he matched his season-high with three walks and threw 40 pitches, his third-most in an outing in his career. The veteran has been the Pirates closer since David Bednar went down with an oblique injury, but this is now three straight outings in which he gives up at least one run. • José Caballero homers in loss
José Caballero went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run in a loss to the Rangers on Sunday.

Advice: Caballero took Nathan Eovaldi deep for a two-run hot, accounting for the only runs the Rays would score on the day. The 27-year-old now has six home runs and 24 RBI on the season, but his fantasy value comes courtesy of his 24 stolen bases. As long as he keeps playing most of the games in Tampa Bay, his speed will give him fantasy value. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:31 pm

    • Aroldis Chapman loses control, blows save
Aroldis Chapman walked three batters, allowed two hits and two earned runs in a disastrous ninth inning on Sunday against the Mets. He also struck out two batters.

Advice: The Mets took some tremendous at bats against Chapman in this ninth inning. Francisco Alvarez walked on eight pitches. Harrison Bader laced a single after seven pitches. Then Jose Iglesias walked after eight pitches and multiple foul balls to load the bases for Francisco Lindor who promptly hit a go-ahead single. All in all, Chapman threw 40 pitches! That’s the most he’s thrown in a single inning since 2015 and he’s been shaky all season. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:21 pm
    • Michael Kopech implodes in loss
Michael Kopech allowed four runs on two hits in 2/3 of an inning in a loss to the Marlins on Sunday.

Advice: Kopech was tasked with protecting a one-run lead and was not able to do it. He walked the first batter of the inning, but the Marlins sac bunted with the next hitter and Jazz Chisolm Jr. flew out, so it seemed like Kopech would get out of the inning before he allowed a double to Josh Bell, intentionally walked Jesus Sanchez, and gave up a game-ending home run to Jake Burger. That’s now three straight rough outings for Kopech after he had seemingly gotten things back on track. He now has a 5.45 ERA on the season and should not be on fantasy rosters right now.
