      Advice: Crawford took his first loss of the campaign his previous time out when he allowed season highs of four runs (three earned) and 10 hits against the Cubs. The right-hander got back on track with a strong outing Wednesday, notching his third quality start and second victory of the season. Crawford has been outstanding for the Red Sox early in the campaign, ranking fifth among qualified starters with a 1.56 ERA through 40.1 innings.       Justin Verlander allowed two runs with two strikeouts over seven innings in a no-decision against the Guardians on Wednesday.

      Advice: Verlander had worked around four hits and two walks through four scoreless innings until the Guardians got to him in the fifth. Will Brennan led off the inning with a solo homer to put Cleveland on the board. A walk and triple brought one more run across before Verlander escaped the frame. He tossed two more innings for the quality start, striking out two batters. The 41-year-old right-hander ends the day with a 2.08 ERA, 1.15 WHIP, and a 13/7 K/BB ratio across 17 1/3 innings.     • Jarren Duran reaches three times in win Wednesday
      Jarren Duran smacked an RBI triple, scored a run and drew a pair of walks as the Red Sox triumphed over the Giants on Wednesday evening at Fenway Park.

      Advice: Duran worked a walk off of Daulton Jefferies in the third inning and came around to score the go-ahead run on an RBI ground out off the bat of Rob Refsnyder. He then plated a run of his own with a two-out RBI triple that chased Jefferies in the fourth inning.     • Kutter Crawford fans six in victory over Giants
      Kutter Crawford delivered a strong performance in Wednesday night’s victory over the Giants, allowing two runs on four hits over his seven frames.

      Advice: Crawford punched out six batters on the evening while surrendering a pair of free passes. He served up a solo homer to Tom Murphy leading off the third inning, then allowed an RBI bunt single to Mike Yastrzemski in the fourth inning. That was the extent of the damage against him. Crawford got 12 swings and misses on 92 pitches in the contest, six on his cutter, while registering a CSW of 29 percent. Now 2-1 on the season, he’ll carry a brilliant 1.56 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and a 40/13 K/BB ratio (40 1/3 innings) into a tough matchup against the Braves in Atlanta on Tuesday.       Juan Soto singled, walked and stole a pair of bases as the Yankees triumphed over the Orioles on Wednesday evening in Baltimore.

      Advice: Soto smacked a one-out single off of Corbin Burnes in the top half of the first inning and swiped second base before being stranded there. He then worked a leadoff walk in the sixth inning, and once again nabbed second before being thrown out trying to steal third.       Advice: The third baseman got the start Monday versus Arizona's lefty pitcher Tommy Henry in the first game of the series, but Muncy will begin in the dugout Wednesday for the second straight game against southpaw Jordan Montgomery.       Seth Lugo pitched seven innings of one-run ball in defeating the Blue Jays on Wednesday.

      Advice: Lugo fanned eight today, giving him 17 strikeouts in his last two outings. He totaled just 14 in his first five starts of the year, so this is a big improvement.       Yankees manager Aaron Boone said that Cole had a "heavy day" of throwing off flat ground Tuesday, but the skipper is unsure when the right-hander will be ready to throw a bullpen session, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.

      Advice: Cole has been playing catch multiple times per week for about two weeks while steadily increasing his throwing distance. He hasn't hit any reported snags in his recovery since resuming his throwing program, but it's not yet clear when Cole will be able to take the next meaningful step forward in his recovery from his right elbow injury by getting back on the mound. Boone also declined to speculate if a return before the All-Star break is realistic for Cole, who is eligible to be activated May 25 after opening the season on the 60-day injured list.       Marlins sent Jake Burger (oblique) on a rehab assignment with Triple-A Jacksonville.

      Advice: The 28-year-old slugger was placed on the injured list a little over two weeks ago and will get some live at-bats with Jacksonville on Wednesday. Prior to hitting the injured list, Burger was slashing .228/.281/.421 with three home runs and 15 RBI in 64 plate appearances this season.
