    • Rehab start Wednesday
Senga (shoulder/triceps) will begin a rehab assignment with High-A Brooklyn on Wednesday, Will Sammon of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Senga is slated to throw about 40 pitches in his first game appearance since he was diagnosed with a right shoulder strain back in February. The right-hander will require multiple rehab outings before rejoining the Mets' rotation, but he should be able to make it back before the end of July if all goes well. • Starting for Mets on Wednesday
Mets manager Carlos Mendoza said Monday that Scott will be recalled from Triple-A Syracuse to start Wednesday versus the Nationals, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Things had been pointing in that direction and the skipper has now made it official. While Mendoza did not commit to Scott making additional starts in the majors beyond Wednesday, the opportunity would seem to be there with Tylor Megill now in the minors. Scott holds a 3.90 ERA and 25:6 K:BB over 27.2 innings in five starts with the big club this season. Rotowire.com 7 minutes ago
    • Christian Scott to start Wednesday versus Nats
Christian Scott will start for the Mets against the Nationals on Wednesday.

Advice: It’s unclear if this will be one and done or if Scott might get to keep the spot for a spell. He certainly deserves a long look; he had a 3.90 ERA and a 25/6 K/BB ratio in 27 2/3 innings over five starts before the Mets sent him down a month ago, and he’s since posted a 2.12 ERA in Triple-A. He’s worth playing in mixed leagues this week. Rotoworld 8 minutes ago
    • Rays release Chris Devenski
      Rays released RHP Chris Devenski.

Advice: Devenski was DFA’d last week after racking up a 6.75 ERA in 26 2/3 innings out of the pen for Tampa Bay. He has a 6.46 ERA in 94 2/3 major league innings since the beginning of 2020. Rotoworld 22 minutes ago
    • Cleared to begin rehab assignment
Gonzalez (forearm) will begin a rehab assignment Monday with Triple-A Indianapolis, Alex Stumpf of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Gonzales has been sidelined since mid-April with a left forearm strain but has been cleared for game action following nearly three weeks of throwing off a mound without issue. Given how much time he's missed, the left-hander's rehab assignment should be fairly lengthy, but a return before the end of July is likely if he doesn't encounter any setbacks. • Poised for MLB start this week
Scott appears poised to make a start for the Mets this week, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Scott had been scheduled to start Monday for Triple-A Syracuse, but that will no longer happen. The Mets do not have a starter listed for Wednesday's game against the Nationals, and manager Carlos Mendoza had indicated previously that Scott would likely join the rotation at some point during the team's current stretch of 17 games in 17 days, which runs up until the All-Star break. All signs point to it happening Wednesday, although there's no official word from the Mets yet. Scott held a 3.90 ERA and 25:6 K:BB over 27.2 innings in five starts earlier this season for New York. He's posted a 2.76 ERA and 55:12 K:BB in 42.1 frames covering nine starts with Syracuse. Rotowire.com 55 minutes ago
    • Christian Scott’s AAA start being skipped
The Mets are skipping Christian Scott’s turn in the Triple-A rotation and starting Mike Vasil on Monday night instead.

Advice: There is no reported injury for Scott, so skipping his start would seem to be a strong indication that he will be called up to take over Tylor Megill’s spot in the rotation. That could mean a start on Thursday against the Nationals. Scott should be scooped back up in all leagues in which he was dropped. Rotoworld Today, 12:55 pm
    • Report: White Sox intend to trade Garrett Crochet
USA Today’s Bob Nightengale reported that “the White Sox intend to trade [Garrett Crochet] by the July 30 trade deadline.”

Advice: According to Nightengale, the White Sox “quietly engaged in brief contract extension talks” with Crochet,” but there is “no optimism towards reaching an agreement,” so the team is now intent on moving him. As of now, the White Sox have allegedly had 15 teams call to express interest in Crochet, who is making just $800,000 and is under team control through 2026. Some potential concerns surrounding the left-hander are just how much he’ll pitch over the summer after having already thrown 21 more innings than his entire career total heading into this season. There are some additional concerns about whether “a team acquiring Crochet may have to offer a contract extension for him to lift those innings restrictions in the second half because of the potential of an injury risk.” We should get more clarity on Crochet’s market over the next couple of weeks, but he seems like a strong bet to be dealt. • Making next start Tuesday
Birdsong is scheduled to make his next start Tuesday in Atlanta, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports.

Advice: The banged-up Giants have only two members of their Opening Day rotation (Logan Webb and Jordan Hicks) available at the moment, so San Francisco should have a spot available for Birdsong until at least three of Kyle Harrison (ankle), Blake Snell (groin), Alex Cobb (hip), Robbie Ray (elbow) and Keaton Winn (elbow) come back from the injured list. After being expedited to the big leagues last week following just two starts at Triple-A Sacramento, Birdsong demonstrated shaky command in his MLB debut against the Cubs on Wednesday, giving up three runs on six hits and three walks over 4.2 innings. On a positive note, Birdsong induced nine swings and misses and finished with five punchouts. His long-term outlook remains promising, but Birdsong shapes up as a risky fantasy option heading into what will likely be a two-start week. After facing off against Atlanta, the 23-year-old right-hander lines up for another turn Sunday in Cleveland. Rotowire.com Today, 12:02 pm
