• Promotion made official
The Orioles recalled Kjerstad from Triple-A Norfolk on Tuesday.

Advice: Kjerstad had gotten off to an unbelievable start at Norfolk this season, slashing .349/.431/.744 with 10 home runs over 21 contests. It could be tricky finding consistent playing time for Kjerstad given the Orioles' bevy of options, but the left-handed batter will certainly be in the mix for starts between designated hitter, the corner outfield spots and first base against right-handed pitching. • Orioles recall Heston Kjerstad
Oreioles recalled OF Heston Kjerstad from Triple-A Norfolk.

Advice: It’s official. Kjerstad will join the O’s active roster after the team placed Austin Hays on the injured list. The 25-year-old outfielder has excelled at the Triple-A level this season where he’s posted a .349 average and 1.176 OPS along with 10 round trippers. If he’s still available on waivers, he’s definitely worth a stash as the young prospects in Baltimore, minus Jackson Holliday, have gotten off to hot starts in the majors. Rotoworld 27 minutes ago
  • Straight-line running Tuesday
Urshela (hamstring) did some straight-line running drills Tuesday, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

Advice: It's a good sign that he's already doing some running just a few days after landing on the injured list with a right hamstring strain. Urshela will eventually progress to running the bases and could need a short rehab assignment before rejoining the Tigers. Rotowire.com 29 minutes ago

  • Goes through full workout
Ibanez (hamstring) went through a full workout at second base on the field Tuesday, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

Advice: McCosky added that Ibanez didn't appear to be favoring his left hamstring at all. The veteran utility player would appear to be close to beginning a rehab assignment, with a return before the end of the month possible. Once he rejoins the Tigers, most of Ibanez's playing time figures to come against lefties. Rotowire.com 32 minutes ago

  • Beginning rehab assignment
The Rangers assigned Sborz (shoulder) to Double-A Frisco on Tuesday to begin a rehab assignment.

Advice: The right-hander has been on the shelf with a rotator cuff strain since April 7, and he shouldn't require a lengthy rehab assignment since it's been a relatively brief absence. Sborz made three appearances prior to the injury and struck out three without allowing a run over 2.2 innings. Rotowire.com 50 minutes ago

  • Claimed by Arizona
The Diamondbacks claimed Jacques off waivers from the Red Sox on Tuesday, Andrew Parker of Beyond the Monster reports.

Advice: Jacques had been designated for assignment after making one appearance this season for Boston. The left-hander holds a career 5.08 ERA, 22:10 K:BB and 63 percent groundball rate over 28.1 innings at the major-league level. Rotowire.com Today, 10:48 am

  • Yankees send DJ LaMahieu on rehab assignment
Yankees sent DJ LaMahieu on a rehab assignment with Double-A Somerset.

Advice: The team was targeting LaMahieu to make a rehab assignment tonight and it looks like they are right on schedule with the 35-year-old. LaMahieu has been recovering from a fractured foot he suffered in the spring and could be a nice boost for the Yankees’ offense who have scored zero runs in two of their past three games. It’s unclear when he’ll make his return to the active roster, but this is a step in the right direction for the veteran infielder. Rotoworld Today, 10:36 am

  • Diamondbacks claim Joe Jacques off waivers
Diamondbacks claimed LHP Joe Jacques off waivers from the Red Sox.

Advice: The 29-year-old southpaw was placed on waivers this past Saturday and will get a fresh start in Arizona. He’s likely to start off in the minors and be used as bullpen depth for the D-backs. Jacques made 23 appearances (one start) for the Red Sox during the 2023 campaign, posting a 5.06 ERA, 1.58 WHIP and a 20/10 K/BB ratio. In his lone appearance with Boston this season, he allowed three hits and one earned run in 1 2/3 innings of work. Rotoworld Today, 10:31 am

  • Earns first win Monday
Erceg (1-1) earned the win against the Yankees on Monday, firing two scoreless innings during which he allowed a walk and recorded a strikeout.

Advice: Erceg took the baton from starter JP Sears, who stymied his former Yankees squad over six shutout, three-hit innings. Erceg didn't miss a beat, locating 17 of his 26 pitches for strikes and serving as a bridge to a rare save opportunity for Mason Miller in the ninth inning. The right-hander now has five consecutive scoreless appearances, a span during which he's fired six scoreless frames while recording six strikeouts. Rotowire.com Today, 10:28 am
