• Throwing off mound this weekend
Hendricks (back) will throw a bullpen session this weekend in Boston, Bruce Levine of 670TheScore.com reports.

Advice: The Cubs will map out a plan for Hendricks' rehab based on how he feels during and after the bullpen session. Hendricks was placed on the injured list Tuesday with a lower-back strain. Given his 12.00 ERA in five starts this season, the team might elect to give him ample time on a rehab assignment in hopes he can get back on track. Rotowire.com 35 minutes ago

  • Draws start Wednesday
Blach is slated to start Wednesday's game against the Padres at Coors Field.

Advice: Per Patrick Lyons of JustBaseball.com, the Rockies are likely to treat Wednesday's contest as a bullpen day, as Blach tossed an inning of relief Monday and may not be ready to handle a typical starter's workload just two days later. Prior to getting a call-up from Triple-A Albuquerque last weekend, Blach had made four starts for the Rockies' top affiliate, logging a 3.45 ERA, 0.92 WHIP and 12:2 K:BB in 15.2 innings. Blach will presumably be in line for just one start before moving back to the bullpen after Wednesday's game. Rotowire.com Today, 1:33 pm

  • Kyle Gibson strikes out six in Cardinals’ win
Kyle Gibson limited the Diamondbacks to one run in six innings and struck out six in the Cardinals’ 5-1 victory Wednesday.

Advice: The Diamondbacks did Gibson a favor, giving Ketel Marte, Lourdes Gurriel Jr. and Gabriel Moreno the day off, and Gisbon went on to have a pretty easy day. His 14 whiffs and 36% CSW were both season highs. He’ll carry a 2-2 record and a 4.35 ERA into Detroit for his next start. Rotoworld Today, 1:02 pm

  • Jordan Montgomery goes seven against Cardiansl
Jordan Montgomery yielded three runs — two earned — in seven innings Wednesday in a loss to the Cardinals.

Advice: Montgomery cruised through five innings before giving up three hits and two runs in the sixth. The unearned run came after a Blaze Alexander error in the seventh. Montgomery struck out four and walked one in the efficient 87-pitch outing. He’ll take on the Dodgers next. Rotoworld Today, 1:02 pm
  • Set to start Friday
Priester is slated to make his next appearance as the starting pitcher for Friday's game against the Giants in San Francisco, Alex Stumpf of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Earlier in the week, the Pirates listed Priester as their probable starter for Wednesday's game against the Brewers, but Pittsburgh is instead having Josh Fleming open Wednesday's contest for what will be a bullpen day. Priester won't have his turn in the rotation skipped, however, as the Pirates will simply push him back in the schedule a couple of days to have him start Friday's series opener at Oracle Park. Priester will look to rebound after he struggled mightily in his 2024 MLB debut this past Friday versus the Red Sox, taking a loss while allowing five runs (four earned) on seven hits and one walk over 4.1 innings. • Shut down after setback with elbow
Williams will receive an injection and be shut down for seven days after feeling right elbow discomfort Wednesday following a start in extended spring training, Mandy Bell of MLB.com reports.

Advice: The soreness was similar to what he first felt during spring training in a weighted-ball workout. The Guardians are hopeful that Williams can begin a throwing program in a week and ramp things back up, but it's certainly no guarantee things will go that smoothly. Even in a best-case scenario, Williams figures to be sidelined well into May now. Rotowire.com Today, 12:38 pm

  • Rangers send Max Scherzer on rehab assignment
Rangers sent Max Scherzer (back) on a rehab assignment to Triple-A Round Rock.

Advice: The 39-year-old veteran will get the start on Wednesday and hopes to throw at least 50 pitches. Scherzer, who has been on the injured list since the start of the regular season, hopes to make a return in sometime in May after he underwent back surgery in the offseason. Rotoworld Today, 12:10 pm

  • Improves velocity in latest bullpen
Waldichuk (elbow) threw a successful 30-pitch bullpen session Tuesday, MLB.com reports. "Waldichuk looked really good and got his velocity up from his last bullpen," said A's manager Mark Kotsay. "He's trending in the right direction."

Advice: Waldichuk has now thrown three bullpen sessions over the last eight days alone, certainly an encouraging sign with respect to his surgically repaired elbow's strength. The left-hander is slated to throw additional bullpen sessions during the Athletics' road trip before facing hitters in a simulated game at some point next week, after which he'll head out on a rehab assignment, per Kotsay. • Adductor strain considered moderate
Giants manager Bob Melvin said Wednesday that Snell could miss beyond the minimum 15 day with what has been termed a moderate left adductor strain, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Advice: Snell first felt the injury during a recent bullpen session and still was in discomfort when he attempted to throw again, necessitating a move to the injured list Wednesday. San Francisco will use an opener in Ryan Walker followed by likely bulk reliever Mitch White in Snell's place Wednesday, but how it plans to fill the spot in subsequent days is not yet clear.
