    • George Kirby changed his curve grip in last start
George Kirby debuted a new curveball grip in Tuesday’s start, making the change “on the fly” before the game.

Advice: Kirby didn’t like how his curveball was performing against right-handed batters this season, so he decided to try a new grip before Tuesday’s start in order to “find something that has a little more depth and [he] can stay on the plate with it.” It seemed to work on Tuesday as Kirby threw just six curveballs but got five swings and two whiffs. The other swings resulted in foul balls and one groundout. Kirby mentioned that it’s a grip he’s used in the past and one he knows Zac Gallen uses. “I throw it a little bit harder, but it just kind of eliminates the horizontal movement, which, especially to righties, I kind of had a hard time with.” After a successful first attempt at the new grip, the modification may stay around, giving Kirby a little more fantasy upside in what is already a good season. • Fans seven for Jacksonville
Cabrera (shoulder) threw four scoreless, no-hit innings for Triple-A Jacksonville on Tuesday, striking out seven and walking two.

Advice: The right-hander built up to 60 pitches (37 strikes) as he closes in on a return to the big-league rotation. The Marlins moved Cabrera to the 60-day IL over the weekend, which will prevent him from being activated until early July, but he should be ready to rejoin the team's staff as soon as he's eligible. Through five MLB starts this season, Cabrera has a 7.17 ERA, 1.59 WHIP and 31:14 K:BB through 21.1 innings. Rotowire.com Today, 7:17 am

    • Secures 14th save
Doval picked up the save over the Cubs on Wednesday, allowing one hit over a scoreless ninth inning while striking out one.

Advice: Doval entered the contest with a one-run lead in the ninth and surrendered a leadoff single to Dansby Swanson before retiring the next three batters in succession to secure his 14th save of the campaign. The right-hander has now converted each of his last five save attempts and has allowed only one baserunner over his last three appearances. Doval has also posted at least one strikeout in three consecutive outings. Rotowire.com Today, 6:11 am
    • Camilo Doval locks down 14th save vs. Cubs
Camilo Doval struck out one batter in a scoreless ninth inning to earn the save against the Cubs on Wednesday.

Advice: Doval was summoned to close out the game with a one-run lead in the ninth inning. He gave up a leadoff single, but stranded the runner with a strikeout, fly out, and a groundout to secure the win and lock down his 14th save. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:15 pm
    • Quiet in return
Arenado went 1-for-8 over both games of Wednesday's doubleheader versus Atlanta.

Advice: Arenado played all 18 innings Wednesday at third base in his return from a left forearm injury. He didn't make much of an impact at the plate, but it's encouraging to see the 33-year-old play both halves of the twin bill. He's down to a .254/.310/.364 slash line with six home runs, 32 RBI, 26 runs scored and one stolen base over 73 contests this year. The Cardinals have occasionally used Brandon Crawford and Brendan Donovan at the hot corner, and they could continue to be an option there if Arenado is out of the lineup or limited to designated hitter at any point in the future, as his forearm issue is believed to be a lingering one. • George Kirby flummoxes Rays over six frames in win
George Kirby struck out seven and allowed one run over six innings on Wednesday in a win over the Rays.

Advice: Kirby coughed up an early run-scoring single to Yandy Díaz, but managed to keep Tampa Bay’s lineup quiet from the third inning onwards to net his seventh win of the season. He induced 13 swinging strikes, including six on his four-seam fastball, and finished with a pedestrian 28 percent CSW. Of course, he also didn’t hand out a free pass in this one. It wasn’t his most dominant effort of the season, but was more than enough to lead Seattle to a much-needed win. The 26-year-old righty has allowed two earned runs or fewer in six consecutive starts dating back to May 29. He’ll carry a strong 3.35 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and 96/9 K/BB ratio across 99 1/3 innings (17 starts) into a tough come outing on Wednesday against the Orioles. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:21 pm
    • Sharp in seventh win
Kirby (7-5) allowed one run on four hits while striking out seven over six innings to earn the win Wednesday over the Rays.

Advice: Kirby had his way with the Rays on Wednesday as he managed to get through six innings for his third win in his last five starts. Kirby has been on a tear, allowing two runs or less in six consecutive starts, posting a 1.70 ERA with three walks and 40 strikeouts in that span. He has the third best ERA in MLB since May and he'll look to keep it going in a tough matchup vs. the Orioles next week. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 12:13 pm
    • Getting day off Wednesday
O'Hoppe is absent from the lineup for Wednesday's contest versus the Athletics.

Advice: O'Hoppe had started each of the previous 11 games -- including 10 at catcher -- so the Angels determined it was time to give him a breather. Matt Thaiss will start behind the plate for the Halos in Wednesday's series finale. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:44 am

    • Connor Joe gets start in right versus righty
Connor Joe is in the Pirates lineup Wednesday for the first time in five games.

Advice: Joe was playing regularly against righties last month, but a slump changed that, and since the Pirates have been in a stretch in which they’ve faced righties in 17 of 19 games, he hasn’t had a big role. He currently has a .459 OPS in June after coming in at .853 in April and .737 in May. For the season, he has a .649 OPS against righties and an .825 OPS versus lefties. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:09 am
