    • Surrenders first run at Triple-A
Skenes allowed one earned run on five hits and one walk while striking out seven across 4.1 innings with Triple-A Indianapolis on Wednesday.

Advice: Skenes faced adversity at the highest level of the minors for the first time, as he surrendered his first run after 14.1 innings of work. There were still plenty of positives to take away from the outing, however, the most notable of which is that he ramped up to 71 pitches. The Pirates have refused to give any indication of when Skenes will make his big-league debut, but there is a current opening in the rotation with Marco Gonzales (elbow) sidelined. • Struggles with power
Ryan (1-1) picked up the win Wednesday against the White Sox, allowing three runs on four hits and a walk over six innings. He struck out eight.

Advice: Although Ryan only gave up four hits on the day, three of them went for extra bases, including solo homers to Kevin Pillar and Korey Lee. Ryan has been tagged for three or more earned runs in three of his five starts this season but boasts an incredible 38:4 K:BB and a 1.01 WHIP in 28.2 innings. He's tentatively lined up for a rematch with the White Sox on Monday. Rotowire.com Today, 8:25 pm

    • Evan Carter homers, triples in win over Mariners
Evan Carter went 2-for-4 with a home run, triple, and two RBI to lead the Rangers to a 5-1 win over the Mariners on Wednesday.

Advice: Carter had an excellent day at the plate with his second multi-hit game in his last three contests. He went yard in the fourth inning, going back-to-back with Adolis García for a pair of homers off Bryce Miller. Carter drove in a second run with a triple in the seventh. The 21-year-old outfielder is hitting .215/.315/.456 with four homers, 16 runs scored, and one steal across 92 plate appearances. Rotoworld Today, 8:20 pm

    • Robert Suarez locks down ninth save vs. Rockies
Robert Suarez struck out one batter in a perfect ninth inning to secure the save against the Rockies.

Advice: Suarez was given a three-run lead to protect in the ninth inning. He worked quickly, striking out one batter and closing it out on seven pitches for his league-leading ninth save of the season. The 33-year-old right-hander holds a 0.77 ERA, 0.94 WHIP, and a 10/4 K/BB ratio across 11 2/3 innings. Rotoworld Today, 8:10 pm
    • Tallies sixth save
McArthur earned the save Wednesday against Toronto, allowing one hit and no walks with two strikeouts over a scoreless inning.

Advice: McArthur converted on his sixth consecutive save chance, keeping the Blue Jays off the scoreboard after entering the game with the Royals ahead by one run. He's rebounded from a rocky start to 2024 and hasn't allowed a run since April 3 (eight appearances), with 11 strikeouts over 9.2 innings in that stretch. Rotowire.com Today, 7:54 pm
    • Max Scherzer gives up three runs in rehab start
Max Scherzer looked a bit rusty in his first minor league rehab start at Triple-A Round Rock on Wednesday, giving up three runs on five hits over 2 1/3 innings of work.

Advice: The 39-year-old right-hander struck out four batters in the contest and didn’t issue a base on balls. Two of the three runs scored against him came on solo home runs — off the bats of Jason Martin and Cole Tucker. Scherzer threw a total of 52 pitches in the ballgame, 32 of those for strikes. All that really matters is that he made it through the start healthy. He’s going to need at least one additional rehab start, but if things go well in that outing he could then be cleared to join the Rangers’ rotation in early May. Rotoworld Today, 7:33 pm

    • James McArthur locks down sixth save on Wednesday
James McArthur struck out two batters in a scoreless ninth inning to lock down the save against the Blue Jays on Wednesday.

Advice: McArthur continues to impress on the mound since taking over as the Royals closer. Protecting a one-run lead in the ninth, he worked around a hit, striking out two for his sixth save of the season. The 27-year-old right-hander appears poised to break out as a full-time closer in Kansas City. Rotoworld Today, 7:33 pm
    • Reynaldo López twirls seven-inning gem vs. Fish
Reynaldo López allowed one run over seven innings on Wednesday in a no-decision against the Marlins.

Advice: López authored yet another dominant performance, this time against a floundering Marlins lineup, piling up six strikeouts and only allowing five baserunners over seven frames. Yet, he was forced to settle for a no-decision after Atlanta’s bullpen coughed up a two-run lead in the ninth inning. The 30-year-old converted reliever has been a revelation this season, allowing one earned run or fewer and completing six frames in four consecutive starts to kick off his Braves debut. He’ll bring a microscopic 0.72 ERA, 0.88 WHIP and 24/8 K/BB ratio across 25 innings (four starts) into a road tilt on Tuesday against the Mariners in Seattle. Rotoworld Today, 7:30 pm

    • Joe Ryan strikes out eight in win over White Sox
Joe Ryan allowed three runs with eight strikeouts across six innings in a win over the White Sox on Wednesday.

Advice: Ryan retired the first six batters, striking out the side in the first. Kevin Pillar led off the third inning with a solo homer to put the White Sox on the board. Korey Lee followed two batters later with another solo blast. Ryan put two runners on in the fifth and a run would come in on a double steal of home. The 27-year-old right-hander completed six frames to earn his first win, striking out eight on 19 whiffs. Ryan will take a 3.77 ERA, 1.01 WHIP, and a 38/4 K/BB ratio across 28 2/3 innings into another start against the White Sox in Chicago on Monday. Rotoworld Today, 7:25 pm
