• Two hits in 2024 debut
Mendick went 2-for-4 on Monday against the Twins.

Advice: Mendick began the season with Triple-A Charlotte but joined the big-league club Monday and made his debut while starting at third base. Braden Shewmake has picked up the majority of at-bats at the hot corner since Yoan Moncada (thigh) went down, though Shewmake is hitless in his last four starts and is just 5-for-35 overall. His struggles could open up more regular playing time for Mendick, though he has only a career .242 average and .112 ISO across 519 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:59 pm

  • Struggling of late
McMahon went 0-for-3 with an RBI on Monday against the Padres.

Advice: McMahon recorded four hits April 12, but he has only five hits across 38 plate appearances since. He's also struck out at 39.5 percent clip in that span while tallying two RBI and two runs scored. Even with that stretch, McMahon has a .314 average across 100 plate appearances. • Elehuris Montero goes 0-for-3 in loss
Elehuris Montero finished 0-for-3 with a strikeout versus the Rockies on Monday.

Advice: In spite of a greatly reduced strikeout rate, Montero hasn’t experienced any success in the early going, having hit .210/.250/.226 in 68 plate appearances. If he doesn’t pick it up, there’s the chance the Rockies could DFA him after Kris Bryant returns, though it seems more likely that they’ll just send down Michael Toglia or Sean Bouchard. They still might want to try Hunter Goodman in Montero’s place later. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:18 pm
  • Three hits in loss
Suarez went 3-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI and a run scored in Monday's 5-3 loss to the Cardinals.

Advice: Suarez, who logged his first three-hit game of the season, entered the game on a 3-for-26 (.115) stretch over the last eight games. The two runs knocked in upped his season total to 16, second on the Diamondbacks behind Lourdes Gurriel (21). Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:11 pm
  • Nolan Gorman drills walk-off homer to sink D-backs
Nolan Gorman slugged a game-winning two-run homer on Monday, leading the Cardinals to a 5-3 walk-off victory over the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Gorman came off the bench to wallop a 425-foot walk-off shot to right field off Diamondbacks lefty reliever Kyle Nelson. It wss his fourth round-tripper of the season and first time taking a southpaw deep in the opening month of the year. The 23-year-old slugging second baseman has gotten off to an excruatingly-slow start this season, batting .179 (14-for-78) with six runs scored, four homers and 10 RBI through 21 contests. It feels like only a matter of time before he gets going, but he’s struck out a staggering 32 times already in just 84 plate appearances. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:38 pm

  • Eugenio Suárez tallies three hits in losing effort
Eugenio Suárez went 3-for-4 with a pair of RBI on Monday in the Diamondbacks’ loss to the Cardinals.

Advice: Suárez served as Arizona’s primary offensive catalyst in this one, kicking off the scoring with a second-inning run-scoring single before plating an additional run with a ground-rule double in the fifth inning as part of a three-hit peformance. Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough as the Diamondbacks’ bullpen wound up melting down over the final few frames in an eventual loss at Busch Stadium. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:37 pm
  • Issued release
Peterson was released by the Diamondbacks on Monday, per MLB's transaction log.

Advice: Peterson was designated for assignment Friday, and he'll hit the open market after failing to draw interest elsewhere. He went 1-for-22 with one RBI and two runs over 14 appearances prior to being released. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:32 pm

  • Diamondbacks release INF Jace Peterson
    Diamondbacks released INF Jace Peterson.

Advice: Peterson was designated for assignment by Arizona on Friday, and rather than report back to Triple-A after going unclaimed, the infielder is now on the free agent market. The 33-year-old scuffled with a .045 average in 22 at-bats, but his versatility should see him get a look with another team; likely on a minor-league deal. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:30 pm

  • Maikel Garcia goes deep in loss to Blue Jays
Maikel Garcia hit a two-run homer on Monday in the Royals’ loss to the Blue Jays.

Advice: Garcia has cooled off considerably after coming out of the gate on fire to open the regular season, but he managed to take Blue Jays lefty Yusei Kikuchi deep in the sixth inning for his first round-tripper since April 3. The 24-year-old infielder is batting .178 (16-for-90) with 10 runs scored, four homers, 15 RBI and four steals through 22 contests. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:18 pm
