• Shifts to 60-day IL
The Mariners transferred Santos (lat) from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Thursday.

Advice: The transaction was made in order to free up a spot on the 40-man roster for infielder Leonardo Rivas, whose contract was selected from Triple-A Tacoma. Santos is in the midst of a throwing program as he works his way back from a right lat strain, but the Mariners are proceeding conservatively with him. He won't be eligible to make his season debut until late May. Rotowire.com Today, 10:21 am
  • Mariners transfer Gregory Santos to 60-day IL
Mariners transferred RHP Gregory Santos to the 60-day injured list with a right lat strain.

Advice: Santos’ hasn’t been able to pitch with his lat strain and even with a positive result from an MRI, the team has decided to shelf the 24-year-old hurler for an extended period of time. This is a brutal blow for fantasy managers who were expecting Santos to return by the end of May. Rotoworld Today, 10:21 am
  • Credited with win
Schreiber (2-0) pitched a perfect inning and was credited with the win Wednesday over the Blue Jays.

Advice: Schreiber was deemed the most effective reliever after Alec Marsh (elbow) exited the contest in the fifth inning and Angel Zerpa struggled in a 1.2-inning assignment. Schreiber has maintained scoreless outings in all but one of his appearances so far, pitching to a 0.75 ERA, 0.83 WHIP and 8:3 K:BB across 12 innings. He's added two wins and seven holds while serving in a setup role. Schreiber doesn't have a clear path to saves with James McArthur emerging as the Royals' closer, but he's very clearly in the late-inning mix. Rotowire.com Today, 9:52 am
  • Takes loss Wednesday
Hjelle (0-1) took the loss versus the Mets on Wednesday, allowing three runs on two hits and a walk while striking out two over 2.2 innings.

Advice: Blake Snell (thigh) was placed on the injured list Wednesday, forcing the Giants to go with a bullpen game. Hjelle ended up with the most innings of the seven pitchers used, but he was unable to match his success from his season debut Sunday versus the Diamondbacks, when he pitched two innings of one-hit ball. The right-hander was on the shelf with an elbow injury to begin the season, and he'll likely serve as a long reliever for the majority of 2024. Rotowire.com Today, 9:40 am
  • Starting rehab assignment
Topa (knee) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A St. Paul on Thursday, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Topa opened the season on the shelf with left patellar tendinitis but has been cleared to test himself in a game setting. The reliever presumably will need multiple rehab appearances before returning from the 15-day injured list and slotting back into the Minnesota bullpen. Rotowire.com Today, 9:18 am

  • Royals place Alec Marsh (elbow) on 15-day IL
Royals placed RHP Alec Marsh on the 15-day injured list with a right elbow contusion.

Advice: Marsh was hit by a line drive off Addison Barger on Wednesday which made him leave the game early. Originally the team called it a forearm injury, but tests revealed that the injury is on his elbow. The 25-year-old will be sidelined for at least the next couple weeks before he can return to action. Rotoworld Today, 9:12 am

  • Summoned to majors
The Royals recalled Klein from Triple-A Omaha on Thursday.

Advice: Klein, 24, has allowed just one unearned run with a 12:6 K:BB over 11 innings this season with Omaha. The reliever will be making his major-league debut when/if he enters a game. Rotowire.com Today, 9:10 am
  • Goes on injured list
The Royals placed Marsh on the 15-day injured Thursday with a right elbow contusion.

Advice: Marsh departed early in his start in Wednesday's 3-2 win over Toronto after being struck in the right elbow by a comebacker. X-rays came back negative on Marsh's elbow, and though he sustained nothing more than a bruise, the Royals decided it was best to shut him down for the next 15 days. The Royals called up Will Klein from Triple-A Omaha on Thursday to give the bullpen a fresh arm in the short term, but it's not immediately clear who will replace Marsh in the rotation. • Summoned from Triple-A
The Blue Jays recalled Little from Triple-A Buffalo on Thursday.

Advice: He'll join the Toronto bullpen as a replacement for Bowden Francis (forearm), who was placed on the 15-day injured list. Little has compiled a 2.89 ERA, 1.65 WHIP and 16:8 K:BB over 9.1 innings across his nine relief appearances for Buffalo. Rotowire.com Today, 9:00 am
