    • Jackson Merrill powers Padres past Brewers
Jackson Merrill went 3-for-3, drew a walk and clobbered a three-run homer on Saturday, powering the Padres to a 6-4 victory over the Brewers in San Diego.

Advice: Merrill smacked a one-out single off of Carlos Rodriguez in the second inning, but was ultimately stranded at third base. The 21-year-old outfielder then broke a scoreless tie with his mammoth 440-foot (105.9 mph EV) three-run blast to center field in the fourth inning. He also singled in the sixth. With his three-hit attack, Merrill is now slashing a robust .290/.327/.444 with 10 homers, 35 RBI and nine stolen bases on the season. Rotoworld 31 minutes ago

    • Homers, drives in two in win
Morel went 2-for-4 with a home run, two RBI and two runs scored in Saturday's 8-1 win over the Mets.

Advice: Morel hit an RBI single in the first inning then crushed a 446-foot solo home run in the third. Morel's .209 average so far in June is actually his highest of any month this season, and the homer was his fourth in 19 June games. The 24-year-old is hitting just .202 to date but does have 14 home runs and 43 RBI over 267 at-bats in 2024. Rotowire.com 48 minutes ago

    • Berrios allows five runs in loss against Guardians
Jose Berrios allowed five runs in five innings and took the loss against the Guardians on Saturday.

Advice: Berrios gave up six hits, walked one and struck out three. Home runs have been a problem for Berrios this year and he allowed three more of them on Saturday. He’s now allowed a total of 17 home runs in 16 starts. His 1.58 HR/9 would be a career-high. The 30-year-old right-hander is set to face the Yankees at home next weekend.

    • Ronel Blanco holds O’s to one run over seven
Ronel Blanco allowed one run in seven innings to get a win Saturday over the Orioles.

Advice: Blanco gave up a homer to Jordan Westburg in the second inning, but it was smooth sailing for the right-hander from that point on. He did put three runners on via walk, but he was able to strike out four and limited the loaded Baltimore lineup at an impressive level. Blanco has been one of the biggest bright spots for the Astros in 2024, and he’ll take a 2.34 ERA into a scheduled start against the Mets next weekend. Rotoworld Today, 3:29 pm

    • Christopher Morel wallops 446-foot homer in win
Christopher Morel went 2-for-4 with a solo homer and two RBI on Saturday, powering the Cubs to an 8-1 blowout victory over the Mets.

Advice: Morel contributed a run-scoring single as part of Chicago’s five-run opening frame against Mets starter Tylor Megill before clobbering a gargantuan 446-foot solo shot to left-center field -- his 14th round-tripper of the season -- a couple innings later. It was a much-needed tater for Morel, who hadn’t gone deep since June 11. Rotoworld Today, 2:19 pm

    • Max Scherzer to make season debut on Sunday
Max Scherzer (back, thumb) will make his season debut on Sunday against the Royals.

Advice: The declaration comes directly from Scherzer, so we’re going to take his word for it. We’re still not sure why the decision was made to bump him back an extra day, but it doesn’t have significant fantasy ramifications. The 39-year-old veteran right-hander will make his season debut later this weekend after missing the first couple months of the year recovering from offseason back surgery and a thumb issue that cropped up during his rehabilitation process. He’s no longer an upper-echelon fantasy contributor, but he’s still capable of making an impact, when healthy, especially in deeper mixed leagues. Rotoworld Today, 9:38 am

    • Set for season debut Sunday
Scherzer (back/thumb) said Saturday that he'll return from the 60-day injured list to start in Sunday's series finale against the Royals, Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Advice: After completing his recovery from offseason back surgery in addition to moving past the thumb and forearm injuries that slowed down his rehab process, Scherzer was originally scheduled to make his 2024 debut Saturday. The Rangers ultimately elected to push Scherzer back another day, with manager Bruce Bochy opting to go with Jon Gray for the second game of the series. With Scherzer set to take the mound Sunday, Dane Dunning will be pushed back to start in Monday's series opener against the Brewers. After being acquired from the Mets ahead of the trade deadline last season, Scherzer went 4-2 over eight regular-season starts with the Rangers, posting a 3.20 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 53:15 K:BB in 45 innings. • Seven-game hitting streak
Arozarena went 2-for-4 with a double Friday against the Pirates.

Advice: Arozarena extended his hitting streak to seven games, two of which have been multi-hit efforts. He's hitting .391 in that span while tallying two homers, six RBI, five runs scored and three stolen bases. With this stretch, Arozarena has raised his average to .191 -- his highest mark since April 14. Rotowire.com Today, 7:24 am
    • Clubs 12th homer
Olson went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run and a second run scored in Friday's 8-1 win over the Yankees.

Advice: His fourth-inning shot off Carlos Rodon helped chase the southpaw from the game as part of a three-homer, eight-XBH barrage from Atlanta. Olson's bat has come alive in June, and through 74 plate appearances on the month he's slashing .309/.365/.574 with four of his 12 long balls on the year and 10 of his 40 RBI.
