    • Collects 14th save
Suarez walked one and struck out one in a scoreless and hitless inning to earn the save in Thursday's 6-4 extra-inning win over the Reds.

Advice: Suarez had no trouble locking down the save in the 10th inning after the Padres pulled ahead. The right-hander has still allowed just one run all season, and that was March 28 versus the Giants. His scoreless streak is at 20 innings, and he has a 0.40 ERA, 0.67 WHIP and 21:5 K:BB over 22.1 innings with 14 saves and one hold on the year as one of baseball's top closers. • Rebounds for 14th save
Holmes earned the save in Thursday's 5-0 win over Seattle, allowing two hits while striking out a pair in 1.1 innings.

Advice: Holmes came on in relief in the eighth after Nick Burdi loaded the bases. He'd induce a grounder off the bat of Luke Raley for the final out before working around a pair of singles in the ninth to earn his 14th save. It's a nice bounce-back effort from Holmes, after he allowed four runs in a blown save against Seattle on Monday, the first four runs he's allowed this season. Overall, the 31-year-old right-hander sports a 1.64 ERA with a 1.23 WHIP and 25:6 K:BB across 22 innings this year. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 2:46 pm
    • Continues stellar run
Gil (6-1) earned the win Thursday over the Mariners, allowing just one hit and two walks while striking out eight in 6.1 scoreless innings.

Advice: Gil continues to look like a star in the Yankees' rotation -- the 25-year-old right-hander now has five straight wins and quality starts, allowing just two runs over 30.2 innings in that span. He's lowered his ERA to 2.11 on the year with a 1.01 WHIP and 70:29 K:BB through 10 starts (55.1 innings). GIl will look to keep rolling in his next outing, currently scheduled for next week on the road against the Angels. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 2:07 pm

    • Robert Suarez nails down 14th save against Reds
Robert Suarez fired a scoreless 10th to pick up a save against the Reds on Thursday.

Advice: That’s already the 14th save of the season for Suarez; putting him at right around a 40-save pace at this stage of the season. The right-hander hasn’t just helped in that category, as the scoreless 10th puts his ERA at a sparkling 0.40 for the 2024 campaign. There were question marks about Suarez being a stopper for the Padres coming into the season. Over the first 50-plus games, that question has been answered rather emphatically. • Nick Castellanos homers as Phillies top Rangers
Nick Castellanos went 2-for-4 with a solo homer in a 5-2 win for the Phillies on Thursday over the Rangers.

Advice: Castellanos extended the Phillies’ lead to 5-2 with a solo blast in the seventh inning. The veteran outfielder has been able to provide five homers thus far in 2024, and the pair of hits see his average increase to a still-disappointing .206 mark. Castellanos is a good bet to be (much) better over the final two-thirds of the 2024 campaign. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:20 pm
    • Luis Gil holds M’s to one hit, strikes out eight
Luis Gil held Seattle to one hit with eight strikeouts over 6 1/3 shutout innings Thursday while picking up a win.

Advice: Another masterful outing for Gil, one that might quiet the “move to the bullpen” talk when Gerrit Cole returns to the rotation. Gil did walk two, but he was mostly dominant with the only hit being a J.P. Crawford single in the fourth. Gil has struck out 22 batters over his last two starts in 12 1/3 innings, and his ERA is a sparkling 2.11. A chance to impress again is scheduled for Wednesday against the Angels in Los Angeles. • Rosenthal: Gil could move to pen when Cole returns
According to Ken Rosenthal, the Yankees “are likely to ‘back off’ on Luis Gil in order to have him as a factor for the playoffs.”

Advice: On one hand, backing off Gil makes some sense. The 25-year-old has already thrown 49 innings this season and has not thrown more than 96 innings in any season since 2019. However, when Yankees manager Aaron Boone was asked about his plans for Gil, he mentioned that Gerrit Cole is likely four to six weeks away from returning, which is an eternity during a baseball season. Moving Gil to the bullpen could make sense on the surface, but it’s impossible to tell what position the Yankees rotation will be in by the time Cole comes back. As a result, it’s too early to make a move for your fantasy teams. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:31 am

    • Rejoining rotation
Irvin will re-enter the Orioles' rotation following the injury to John Means (forearm), Matt Weyrich of The Baltimore Sun reports.

Advice: Each of Irvin's last two appearances have come in relief, but he's been terrific in seven starts this season, collecting a 2.90 ERA and 28:8 K:BB over 40.1 innings of work. Means' next turn comes up Monday in Baltimore against the Red Sox, and Irvin would be on regular rest that day after throwing 3.1 relief innings in Wednesday's loss to the Cardinals. • Cody Bradford (back) moved to 60-day IL
Rangers transferred LHP Cody Bradford (back) to the 60-day IL.

Advice: The team needed space on the 40-man roster to call up Jesus Tinoco with Jon Gray (groin) going on the IL. Considering the Rangers are also expecting to get back Max Scherzer, Tyler Mahle, and Jacob deGrom at some point over the summer, Bradford may not have a spot in the rotation when he is eventually healthy enough to pitch. He can be cut in all redraft fantasy leagues. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:56 am
